Her beak is tucked behind her tiny wing as she sleeps beside her Mommy. It was early this Sunday morning and the church bells were ringing as cars were cruising by. Joggers were jogging and dogs were barking and predators with their own wings were circling in the sky. The world was spinning as our world does but in this moment she was grounded.
Grounded in the peace of trust. Trust in her mother. Trust in her maker. She breathed so deeply her little chest lifted off of the ground with each breath.
Beep went the horn. Bark went the dog. What's up went the human. And yet she slept on.

Your words bring a song in my heart, Kim. Have a beautiful week.

To be that trusting and feel so safe. Mother and child as it was meant to be.
Love to you on this Memorial Day.

I need to take a lesson from this little one. Seems so many things startle me these days, and instinctively my first impulse is to fly away, time and time again. I forget that I too am grounded.
Thank you for reminding me, Kim.
