A Little Giveaway

Little Toes and Go Curls Go

I love our time alone together at her house when I watch her so that Mommy and Daddy can have a date night.  We spend some time outside chasing butterflies and picking leaves and grass blades.  We try to find planes in the sky. We get too hot in the summer heat and go back inside.  She helps me cook up something to eat and we have dinner together at her little table and chairs.  And then there is ice-cream because apparently whenever Birdie comes over there must be ice-cream because of that one time.  We play in her room and then read Good Night Moon, laughing hysterically when we get to the "Goodnight Nobody" page because I think we are going to have the same sense of humor that her mother does.  She is almost 3 and as cute as can be.  But of course!  

And can we talk about those curls?  I am so proud!!

It is Monday morning, the sun is shining and it is hot so I painted a Christmas tree. In August.  Just because.

I've also painted a few bunnies and they will be hopping to their new homes soon and a very abstract ocean.  Apparently I was in a color mood!  

I hope you had a great weekend.  I can't believe it is August 17 already.  As much as I TRY to stay in the moment and savor the now, I am really really ready for fall.

Bring on the pumpkins .... yes, while I paint Christmas trees.

The Goose Days of Summer & A Tiny Video

It is usually very hot and hazy out whenever I visit Papa Goose due do it being the dog days of summer here.  I think I will refer to these days as the Goose Days of Summer as my dogs are for the most part nice and cool inside enjoying the AC while Papa Goose is always outside in the heat and humidity.  But did you know that the term "dog days of summer" really originated with the original belief that the brightest star in the constellation named Sirius, also called Dog Star, was responsible for the hot weather?  I didn't know that, but I learn something every day hour.

Anyway, Papa Goose has been very happy lately as he has a new family to care for! Bandita, the muscovy duck who was dropped off by someone when she was a tiny duckling with a metal band on her leg at Easter time in 2014, has had a second round of babies and Papa is on the job again - protecting them and loving them as only he can do.  So sweet, so precious, our Papa Goose!  Yesterday I painted a few paintings of him and they are on their way soon to two other souls who love him as much as I do....

 

What a joy it has been to share this angel with you over the years!  I am so bad at taking video with my phone but I managed to record 8 whole seconds of Papa Goose saying good morning the other day as I walked up to him on the lake. Hopefully you can see and hear as I try to share it here ... oh and please ignore my high-pitched voice that I tend to use when talking to the birds!

Got Glasses?

She went to Build A Bear with her Mommy and Daddy.  She picked out an Olaf shirt and glasses just like hers for her very special bear now named Bear Bear.

Summer Lynn must now wear glasses as her beautiful, emotive, and most soulful eyes were crossing. There are several medical terms for her condition. I, as her Birdie, only care that she sees, God willing, and as she is meant to.  And that she sees and feels and knows that all is so very beautiful within her soul. No one will ever see the world like Summer Lynn. And that is how it is meant to be.
