As I think I have already mentioned, I always listen to Pandora on my computer while I edit and upload the images that I am about to share with you and so many times the music that randomly plays is so unbelievably and spirtually perfect for not only my chosen pictures but also for what my heart is feeling with regard to them. Always blows my mind - to borrow a saying from my dinosaur youth - how serendiptious the music play is.
So the soulful notes that played for these images of our Papa Goose and his muscovy kids was an instrumental piece entitled "Surrender" by Paul Avgerinos. Oh. how. beautiful. As I listened and as I edited, I got teary. Yes, Papa Goose has a way - no scratch that, has THE way to my heart. And to surrender, as we know, means to give the control of something to something else.
Or SOMEONE ELSE.
Or SOMEGOOSE ELSE.
As I shared earlier, someone surrendered 10 muscovy babies to the lake - which being that they ARE muscovies - means they were surrendered to Papa Goose. Now, one muscovy baby has "run away" or should I say flown away and is currently a part of a pekin duck family on the opposite side of the lake. One has a bad boo-boo foot and is nursing it as I type on the grass. The other 9 are all just fine! They follow Papa and heed to his parental goose voice that believe me, sounds like no other goose on the lake. A few years ago, Papa Goose surrendered to the geese who would not accept him in that he stopped trying for their approval and disassociated himself with all geese. He became a free bird of his own will to only answer to Mother Nature and God. While he has been victorious in his surrender he has paid an earthly price. He is a loner, with the exception of a few adult muscovy friends. But in his surrender, he found his victory. He found his voice. He found his purpose under the sun. He surrendered to a Higher Power.
And let me tell you something...... surrender has never been more beautiful.
xo
I'm glad Papa Goose became a free bird of his own will to only answer to nature and God. I love you Papa Goose.

Now how to explain to my husband why my eyes are damp. He's going to have trouble believing it. Maybe if I read it to him verbatim. Thanks, Kim. Off to see if I can find this music.

Your writing is beautiful Kim. Heartfelt, tender, sincere. Your gifts are being used for a purpose. God's purpose I would say. Keep on doing what you are doing. You continue to bless your audience. Hats off to you and to the beauty that surrounds you in the form of all life.

Papa goose can teach us all a lesson if we listen. Surrendering to what will be instead of what we think should be is freeing. As the saying goes "man plans and god laughs"....we think we're so in control of our lives....but not at all. There is a bigger life out there if we just let it be. Papa goose is my hero.

I just love this story. I always love a happy ending! I love the way he stays behind "the kids" (except in that one picture) so he can keep an eye on them. My husband never let the kids walk behind him because he couldn't keep them safe that way. Papa Goose is a good dad!
