I was driving home from the bookstore with my new magazine and a couple of books that were on my wish list when I saw this sunset happening to my left. I pulled into the nursing home parking lot and took a quick pic with my phone. As I got back into my car, I noted that there were wonderful balconies for each nursing home apartment but none of the residents were on them.

A glorious gift from above was happening and not one resident was outside to see it.

As I put my car in drive to head on home, I could not shake this image out of my head.

I think I will call the nursing home tomorrow. If they need someone to sit with their residents so that they may see a sunset, I can do that.

It is the very least that I can do.

To the Lake and Back

I left for the lake around 8 in the morning. It was humid and misty after an early rain and it was beautiful. Spiritual might be a better adjective for me to use. It was such a tender morning. The swans were bathing, the ducks were quacking, the summer light was filtering, and the dewy blooms were happy. Busy bees were beautifully being and butterflies and dragonflies were so very free. And sweet Neighbor Kitty welcomed me with his gentle purring melody.

Life is lived a moment at a time. Sometimes we are rushed, distracted, and very stressed and merely trying to get to the end of the day. Our burdens may be many. Our worries often get in the way. Yet we are always living a moment at a time in spite of ourselves. All of the above images were taken as I made my way around the lake and home again. With every step I took in my wet and worn out flip flops, I knew how blessed I was to have this time; to see and hear the beauty; and to be able to share these tiny glimpses of pure joy with you.

And my steps around the lake are lighter now .....

My son will be coming home soon.

Descendants ...

In 1957 Queen Elizabeth generously gave "my" city a pair of mute swans. Their beautiful descendants are gracing this sweet lake to this day.

And I am sure the Queen would agree that all babies are precious indeed.

On the Other Side of the Lake ...

On one side of the lake you will find these geese who stay together literally like birds of a feather.

And on the other side of the lake you will find this goose with his baby muscovy duck, Lucky One, who as you can see is happily growing up.

As you also know, Papa Goose was never accepted by the other geese on the lake.

But he certainly has been accepted by all of his duck children. They love him so.

And those other geese do not have Papa's heart.

Not the one he wears on his bill ...

Nor the one he has within.

I love you Papa Goose.

And so does Papa Goose ...

P.S. Lucky One's Mama - Little Mama is off having fun on the lake. She is a very social duck. She flies back to Papa but she is pretty independent, that is until she has babies again. Lucky One stays with Papa Goose ... never leaving his side.
