Wrapped in one of my daisy aprons and nestled in a basket on top of the red dresser on the front porch, Summer Lynn was an angel as Shannon and I snapped away trying to capture the moment and the milestone.

Two months old. A blink. A blur.

And a beautiful blessing.

We are so thankful.

Random ...

I hope you enjoy my often random posts. My life, too, seems to be so random now. Does that make sense? It is a season of randomness for me, I think.

As my beloved neighbors around me decorate their porches and yards with twinkly Christmas lights and gorgeous poinsettias, I am holding fast to my pumpkins that are still on my front porch because it is still November and I don't want to let her go. I love November's light and sounds and smells. I love the calm that she seems to bring when she arrives. November is like a deep cleansing breath that feels so right as it is slowly released with a satisfied sigh.

November comforts.

So yes, I love November. I will treasure these last days of her. With great thankfulness, indeed.

Mom, Apple Pie, Etc.

Thanksgiving at my sister and brother-in-law's house was WONDERFUL. Simply deliciously perfectly wonderful. I brought pumpkin pie, apple pie, and sweet potato casserole.

As we gathered around the table under the blue Florida sky, we honored, shared, remembered, and savored every morsel and every moment. We were our silliest, our finest, and our in betweenest.

We were family.

And speaking of family, I love this image that I captured of Mom ...

Thankful

I woke up early this beautiful Thanksgiving morning and knew where I needed to be before the day unfurled.

There was an angel soul that I had to see.

I am so thankful for Papa Goose. He has taught me so much.

And he makes my heart soar.

And YOU make my heart soar too.

Capturing ...

A month ago we said our temporary goodbyes to our Shawn. I remember wanting to capture every detail and every moment with my camera but most importantly with my heart.

Can you see the worry in my mother-eyes?

So many details that I wanted to remember ...

And as I snapped the photos and tried to stay in the moment, moments of motherhood came flooding back .... like when I would hold these very hands so tightly when he was a little boy to keep him safe as we crossed a busy street or when I would hold them just because that is what Mommys of little ones do - wishing all the while that we could hold and keep them safe forever.

I miss you Shawn.

I am so thankful for you.

$5 Chalkboard

I was so excited when I found this large schoolhouse chalkboard for $5 at a yard sale. I had no idea where I was going to put it but I knew that I loved it.

Change of Plans

Well I was planning on going with an all white and cream color scheme in the upstairs room that will now serve as a guest room. I envisioned a calm and restful space with little pattern and few accents - something very different from the rest of Daisy Cottage.

But my plans have changed.

My assistants have reminded me that there was no way that color and pattern would not end up in here.
