It was a Friday in June and she came over so that I could rub her head. She had a terrible headache. She says that I am the only one who can rub her head right and make the pain go away.
After I finished rubbing her head she fell asleep on the sofa in the living room and I watched her sleep from my chair.
I thought about all of the times that I would stand by her crib and watch her sleep when she was a baby and I thought about all of the times that she slept in my arms.
And as she slept that afternoon with her baby growing inside her I felt so thankful that I am still here for her.
And then my mommy tears quietly slid down my cheeks in gratitude.
One day she will understand.
♥
We mommies understand. Yes, we do.

What a poignant post. Shannon is lovely and the image is perfect. Does her blouse really match the pattern on the blanket?

I get to see my five month pregnant daughter tomorrow!!! I may feel the little one kick for the first time! It is emotional having a daughter "with child"...and such a blessing. I think I know just how you feel. Love to you all...

Oh Kim, this post is so beautiful....as is Shannon.
I know what you are feeling in your heart. I'm so
happy that you are able to be there during this
special time with your daughter. Our daughter
married an Australian last November and lives in
Brisbane....just a few thousand miles from TN! I,
too, was fortunate to have been able to spend
precious time with Amy watching her grow into the
beautiful woman she has become. I agree that you
are going to be a wonderful grandmother. Enjoy
this time with Shannon.

Yes, gratitude and happy memories. As I type three names stand out on your list of followers. I see listed names also chosen for my daughters. And just for this moment they stand beside me wishing you joy.

What a beautiful post. Shannon is such a lovely girl.
You are going to love being grandmother so much. I just took my granddaughter home after her being here for 2 nights. The house is way to quiet with her gone.

understand until they too are a parent! My daughter is beginning to understand now !!
Our grand is now 5 months old! Enjoy all this
beautiful time together and cherish each other! My heart
swells every time I see our little darling! You will be a wonderful grandma! Enjoy!!!!!

Your daughter Shannon is beautiful!
I can imagine that you had a flashback to the time that she was little..... and now she's the one who will experience these moments real soon!
Blessings, Nina ♥

My daughter now has five children (yes, that surprises even me).
I can't tell you how much I love it when she tells me she "understands" me so much better. We were always fairly close but became even closer after she had her first child.
You will LOVE all the wonderful changes. :)
I rarely comment because I read on an rss feed most of the time but you have always been a light in a world that can be too dark at times.
