  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. Betty's Bungalow

I went on a fabulous home tour yesterday with my sister and friends and we had the BEST time touring wonderful historic homes and meeting the nicest homeowners.  I will share more about those homes later on, but first I wanted to share with you the bungalow that we all fell in love with as soon as we saw it...

This bungalow belongs to Betty, who kindly allowed me to take some photos to share with you.  The colors she used to decorate her home inside and out are delicious and I think you will agree that Betty has created a delightful home that one would never want to leave.

Wasn't that a treat for our eyes?  I hope you enjoyed the tour of Betty's bungalow as much as we did.  Poor Betty .. she couldn't get rid of us as we didn't want to leave!  We invited her to come visit us one day and hopefully she will because we would love to have her and she is a real sweetheart.

Erin's House

Let's go visit my beautiful friend and neighbor, Erin!  You might remember when I shared about her here and here.  She is so excited to have you over today!

Erin, who happens to be a daughter, sister, wife, mother and hard working volunteer, is also the kind of neighbor that you dream of having.  She and her husband, Scotty, were the first to welcome us to the neighborhood when we moved in four years ago and the first to welcome us to THEIR home as their guests. 

When Scotty & Erin bought their 1920's bungalow, it had been converted to a duplex by previous owners and was in dire need of being renovated.  The young couple got right to work and opened walls, tore up flooring, added central heat and air, added a family room, raised the ceiling in the master bedroom, gutted and redid the master bath, refinished all of the original wood floors, and installed new Australian Cypress floors in the new areas.  They painted every wall, inside and out, including all of the trim.  Whew!  Can you imagine?

Their hard work and dedication paid off and they created a wonderful haven for themselves AND for their adorable children, Jake and Lucy, who were later born in this beautiful home!

I LOVE Erin's home, not only for the obvious reasons, but because she celebrates her love for her family throughout her home by incorporating their creations and well-loved things into her decorating style.  Erin embraces all things HOME and she truly celebrates the little things in life and lives each day as if it were a gift.  As she once shared with me, "This is our everything house - our vacation AND dream home - our little place in the world where we love to be."

Lori's House

Are you ready to walk to my friend Lori's house?

I hope so, because, you are in for a real treat!  Her home is one of my ALL time favorites and she is so excited to have YOU as her guests.

Our Lori is amazingly talented in SO many ways.  She inspires me ALL of the time!  She is also an incredible mosaic artist!  We will have to make sure to come back another day to view Lori's gardens and enchanting mosaic wall!

Lori is a daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, and along with her full-time career as a sales director, she is also the creator of this fabulous event, that I had the honor of speaking at this year.  AND she is busy working on her next event -  The Fancy Flea - a vintage home and garden market to be held locally on November 14th.  I will share more about that later!

Lori has decorated her entire 1920's bungalow with her thrifty finds and has transformed numerous drab and dingy vanity tables, dressers, and sideboards into gorgeous pieces with her artist's eye and paint brush.

Lori is also a fantastic cook who loves to entertain and I've never stepped on to her porch without being greeted by the heavenly aroma of fresh coffee brewing and something yummy baking in the oven.  Her creative spirit FILLS her home from room to room and her beautiful bungalow is always a delight for all of the senses!

So let's go inside my lovely friend's home and spend some time in the beautiful haven that she has created from her HEART.

Lisa's House

Please oh please come with me to Lisa's house!  Well, it is actually Lisa and Sean's house - the cutest young couple who are now expecting their FIRST baby! Yay! They are so excited, as are all of their family and friends!

I adore my Lisa - she is a like-minded soul and has been a wonderful friend and neighbor to me.  Along with being a daughter, sister, wife, and mother-to-be, she is a nurse too.  AND, most importantly, she is a fabulous thrifter!   ;-) 

Lisa has decorated their 1920's Spanish bungalow with her thrifting finds and she and Sean have a wonderful eye for finding unique and fun things on their many hunting expeditions.  You've got to get up pretty darn early to beat these two love birds to the weekend sales!  She is so sweet as she has gifted me with several PERFECT Daisy Cottage treasures.

Well, enough chatting - let's walk around outside a little, before we knock on their door....

I hope you enjoyed touring Lisa & Sean's house!  It is a true labor of love for them and the result is a charming and welcoming abode.  I can't thank them enough for sharing their casa with us!  Don't I have the best friends and neighbors?  :-)

And I can't thank YOU enough for all of your kind comments for the homeowners about their homes.  Each of you have made their hearts sing and they all have REALLY REALLY REALLY appreciated your kindness! You have brought smiles to their faces, for sure!! So thank you from the bottom of MY heart for always being THE BEST. 

I'll have another tour coming up next week when we go to Lori's house and after that I'll share some wonderful things with you that I've received in the mail (thank you sweet ones - you know who you are). Then I will have ONE more tour and that will wrap up my tours for awhile.  BUT if you would like for me to do more in the future, I'll certainly do my best - maybe one a month or something like that.

Cindy's House

Let's visit my wonderful friend, Cindy!  She lives only a few blocks away and she is expecting us.  Not only is Cindy a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, she is also a loving friend too.  She is a department manager in a local home improvement store and has managed and merchandised antique shops in the past.  Cindy loves to go thrifting with her daughter and her friends to find the perfect piece for her home also known as Happinest...
