A Dollhouse Morning

The sun is slowly waking up the dollhouse kitchen.

And although the cupboards appear to be bare ...

We DO have eggs over there!    ;-)

Please have a seat in the chair ...  I'm so glad you are here.

Can you feel the summer breeze coming in through the window?

So yes, I really do need to make my dollhouse grocery list.  Maybe you can help me.... what should I buy?  I know I definitely need milk, bread, and fresh fruits and vegetables.  Oh and an apple pie. 

Yes an apple pie.  Because every kitchen needs an apple pie.

Cleaning the Dollhouse

If you are looking for me, I'll be in the dollhouse.

Note that I said DOLLHOUSE, not DOG HOUSE ...

Although Maisy DOES believe that this is her house.    ;-)

I've been cleaning the bedroom.  It so needed it.  Poor neglected dollhouse.

 

I fluffed the linens ...

 

And I dusted the coffee table ...

 

And I filled the pitcher with fresh water as I'm trying to drink more water every day ...

 

 

And now I think I'll curl up in the chair and read a book before I head into the kitchen ...

 

I so love my dollhouse.  Even if it has been a wee bit neglected.

Books, Books, Books

Hi there!  Come on in!  I'll move the books so that you can sit down. I'm just cleaning up the dollhouse a wee bit. And rearranging things too.  You know me.  I'll be done in a minute.  Maisy, sweetie, why don't you go outside and play for awhile?  I really need to vacuum the rug.

Good girl.

Goodness, there are books everywhere!  I do LOVE my books! My favorite being Gone With the Wind.  But you knew that.   ;-) 

And it's funny because when I received this email from our friend Barbara Anne ..

 

Hi Kim,

I've been enjoying your blog for a few months and made a heart for Jack, but here is my query.  What decorating books are in your bookcase or do you recommend?  I'm hoping to find some at the library and my on-line library search has been frustrating on this rainy day.

It made me realize that I don't have a favorite decorating book.  I think I love them all!

I have a TON of decorating books that you have seen stacked on the buffet behind my office chair.  And I have even more stacked on the round skirted table in my office corner.  I've collected decorating books FOREVER - long before we had computers and gorgeous decorating blogs to visit.  My most recent additions to my personal decorating library over the last couple of years include this one and this one and this one and this one and this one.   And I have enjoyed them very much.  They are all inspiring.  I also love all of Mary Emmerling's books and any that have anything to do with cottage style, of course.

What decorating books do you own? What ones do you love to check out from the library? Please share with me and Barbara Anne if you'd like!  We would love to know.  Do you have a favorite?

Be right back.  I'm going to let Maisy back inside.  I can vacuum later.

You've Got Mail

Your hearts for Jack have been arriving in my mailbox.

Thank you.  Thank you.  Thank you.

I am keeping your hearts safe and sound here at Daisy Cottage until I mail them off to our Jack.  Remember you have until March 31st to send your heart if your heart so desires.  Remember, too, that it is okay if you do not sew.  Neither do I.  I will probably hot glue mine together.  IF you emailed me for my mailing address and I did not answer, then unfortunately that means that I didn't get your email in my Inbox so PLEASE try again.  Thank you for your patience. If I receive an email from you, I promise that I will ALWAYS answer it.

I will share EACH heart that I receive for Jack on my blog with all of you right before I mail them to him.  So far, they are all absolutely precious.  Of course they are - they are of you! They are unique and as lovely as can be.  As I admire each one, I get teary, for what your hearts represent make these handmade treasures the most beautiful gifts in the world.

I AM going to share one heart now, however.  As you know, this loving idea bloomed from Tammy's heart.  She created a heart for Jack and she also generously created one for me.  I want to share that one with you now (I will share the one she made for Jack when I share all of yours) because without her wonderful idea, this project would not be happening.

I also received in the mail the CUTEST red cabinet for my dollhouse!

 

I purchased it from our Dale who has the cutest things in her Etsy shop.  I wish you could see this cabinet in person.  A D O R A B L E.

 

 

 

 

As you can see, I love moving things around in my dollhouse just like I like to do in my real house.  And speaking of my real house - can you guess what color I will be painting these mirrors?

 

 

 

 

Oh so fun.  Many of you have written me to tell me that you have treated yourself to a dollhouse too!  I'm so happy!  They are delightful, aren't they?
