Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Thank you Kim for sharing the Fancy Flea with us! Sure wish I could have been there. The photos have inspired me to try a couple of new things. Love the peg board that was made more fancy with the frame! What a great idea!

I saw you at the fancy flea but you were walking by and I was inside a tent with my hands full paying for everything! So, alas I did not get to meet you but I had the best time there! My daughter and I spent over three hours and met so many wonderful people. My daughter, Carissa, even bought an apron that is in one of photos! As soon as she bought it she put it on. She wore it the rest of the day. It was a perfect day! I would have never heard of the fancy flea if it wasn't for you! Many thanks!

My girlfriend Chris was there and bought a fabulous pair of wrought iron decorative pieces. I have a shop in Texas and hope to come sell next year and see my friends and family in Lakeland. Thanks for showing the pics! Heather

Hi Kim,
I love when you go to the Fancy Flea..I saw many things I would have loved to have maybe its a good thing I don't live by the Fancy Flea....LOL :)
Have a sweet day and big hugs, Elizabeth

OM Goodness. I wish I lived near. y husband and I went to a flea market yesterday about 45minutes away and I only spent $1.00. Lots of stuff that I would have thrown away. LOL. Now, I wanted to ask you if you could email me where I could find flea markets like this one in the state of Florida. My email is [email protected]. Now that our kids are away at college it would be wonderful to get in the car and drive somewhere for the weekend and go junking. Would love to hear from you.
Thanks for sharing and your pictures are beautiful.

April aka The Junk Goddess

This Fancy Flea was the best EVER ! The weather was wonderful and all the vendors were amazing. Kudos to Lori for bringing such a fun event to Lakeland.

Terri Morse

Wow! I wish I could have been there. Thank you so much for the virtual tour. If I had been there, those two lovely white chairs with the pink upholstery would have undoubtedly gone home with me! Hugs, Terri

Judi in SW Florida

We had a wonderful time... our first Fancy Flea! Traveled from Cape Coral, met some lovely friends who live in Lakeland, and bought enough treasures to fill the trunk of my car! We even stopped to visit the swans at Lake Morton. Only regret... we did not get to meet you! Next time...

Thank you for the wonderful pictures! I will enjoy this again later! It's a wonderful little trip I can take when I have a few minutes and so relaxing!

I hope to someday meet you there. It was a wonderful Flea and I will most certainly go back. I came away with several goodies. I think meeting so many fellow bloggers was the best. It would certainly be a great place for a blogger get together in the fall.

Oh Kim ~ how FAB-U-LOUS. I wish I could have been there. sooooo many Treasures ;-)

G from GA

What a beautiful day for the Fancy Flea. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Crafting Marfa

Kim, how fun!! I loved just about everything in the photos. Thanks for taking us alone even if it was a virtual visit. I know that I've told you before, but I love your blog.

Your post did not disappoint. Everything looks just lovely. Several things caught my eye...

Kim, I looked for you but didn't see you. I was going to invite you to have lunch with us. I met some bloggers from around Florida, and we ate at The Terrace. So sorry to have missed you, but I did look.

I have a question for you. Is there ANY way you can find out who had the booth with that pink rocking chair??? I saw two chairs there that I really love and didn't have my checkbook with me. Actually, I had the WRONG checkbook with me. There were two red chairs in a booth, and I think I see the arm of one. The booth was called_______Boy. I can't remember the first part. LOL!

If you read this, please email me.

Sheila... who is blogging only sporadically due to a little injury that has reared its ugly head again. Sigh...

Kim, the chair is in the last set of pictures that says Random, and it is on top of some chest. The chairs I love are red.

Daisy Cottage

I would have LOVED to have seen you! We must have kept missing each other ...

I don't know whose booth that was but I THINK it might be my neighbor's... I will do my best to find out. Lori may know too.

I've missed you! I hope to catch up with you soon and I also hope your injury heals quickly!!!!

Kim, I'm having a bad hair day. LOL! Not sure my first comment made it, so I'm trying again.

I am very sorry to have missed you Saturday. I looked for you to see if you wanted to have lunch with a group of us who came from all over Florida. I had hoped to see you there, but I looked and looked to no avail.

I fell in love with some red chairs, and I can't remember who the dealer is or even whether he still has them. I think it was something like__________ Boy. But I don't know what the first word was. I'm thinking it's the booth in the last set of pictures that says Random, with the little pink rocker on top of a chest. Is there any way you can help me find him? I didn't have the right check book, but I fell in love with a couple of chairs. Please let me hear from you.

Sheila (who is blogging only sporadically due to a little injury that has cropped up again)

Kim, It was so nice meeting you at The Fancy Flea. I have enjoyed your blog for sometime. Your pictures of the Fancy Flea put mine to shame... I have to learn to point and shoot better :)

EYE CANDY!!! Whoot!!!

Thanks, Kim- ALMOST like being there. Saw about a m illion things I wanted to own. One of these days I am leaving this cold rain and coming down there for one of those!

Barbara Anne

As Michele said, what eye candy!!!!!!!!! I have a full house, but oh, some of those items certainly called to me.

Miss Kate has grown into an adorable cutie and Blueberry Mike is still looking good, too! He and Jessi look so happy!

Thanks for the yummy links, too!

Looks like a great market. I wish I was there - I would have purchased everything.

What a perfectly wonderful day!! The small armless rocker in that hopeful shade of green, and the stack of clear pink plates for me, please.

It should take about fifteen hours for the drive, and that will be me in the big ole red pickup.

You have wonderful adventures!

Debbie from Texas

Yes, I remember Blueberry Mike from last year!!! Fancy Flea sounds alot like our Roundtop Antique Fair that we have here twice a, so much fun!!! I always try to save up my money all year to go and buy things. Glad you had a wonderful time. Thanks for the pictures!!!

The Fancy Flea was FABULOUS! The day was gorgeous and the booth displays were beautiful. Everyone was having a great time, all the sellers I spoke to were so kind and friendly. I enjoyed my mini-exploration of Lakeland and want to get back soon to explore some of the shops and the area. It was lovely to visit the swans at Lake Morton and it was lovely to meet you, Kim. It was a special day in so many ways!

pogonip@ Meadowsweet Cottage

It's always a treat when you take us along with you, Kim. So many amazing pieces--gotta say that aqua bed is a keeper!

Thank you so much for posting such great photos of the Fancy Flea, I linked your post to the one I did yesterday. I was so busy looking and talking, I didn't get all the photos I wanted to share with my readers.

I met your friend Lori and Debbie of Vintage Soul AND so many other fabulous, talented, creative woman. This flea market is perfect for a blogging friends gathering and that's just what we did!

Loved every minute and everything! We'll be back in November with even more of our friends!!!!

What a great event! Wish I lived close enough to have attended. My purse would definitely be lighter now. ;)

Could you please tell me where this Fancy Flea is held and when?

Sweet Cottage Dreams

Oh boy! I spy MANY things that I would have loved to buy! The blue iron bed is soooo cute! Perhaps your sis will pass it your way someday...*swoon*

LOVE the roses plate - so pretty! The romantic tops are wonderful and just beautiful. I will be sure to revisit her store when she opens up again.

Kim, thanks so much for taking us along with you!

That looks like sooooooo much fun!! I would LOVE to go to that :) I'd need a cart for everything I bought, at least... lol

I truly enjoyed the Fancy Flea...both in person and again, with your beautiful photos. I even purchased a gorgeous RED mirror! (I'll be sure to take my checkbook in November)Thanks for sharing your bird's eye view of the Flea...I cannot wait for the next one.

I do wish we could have met...I was part of Sheila's party...with Shellbelle. We also met Becky (Junk to Joy) for the first time. And of course, I ran into several other bloggers (Becky from One Shabby Old dear friend, who got me started with blogging). This is a wonderful place for FL bloggers to meet...I can foresee a picnic in that gorgeous park. Hmmmmm.....
Jane (artfully graced)

Linda Browne

Oh my goodness...these pictures just confirm my need to attend the November Fancy excited...a few of my friends will be hosting booths there this year...Thanks for the inspiration, Linda

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
