Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Right now I am making ice tea, chopping up sunflowers to go on top of a salad and trying to get my house straightened up so I can decorate for spring. So many projects to do for spring that my head is spinning!!!!!!!!!! ~~Sherry~~

Ricki Jill Treleaven

I just spring cleaned our cabin's kitchen. Now I am on the porch, sitting on the porch swing drinking tea and reading Romantic Homes magazine (several issues), sipping tea, and playing on my MacBook Air. The sun is shining, and the lake is sparkling. There is a slight breeze.......ahhhhhhh bliss!

Have fun playing, Kim! :D

Where do all those dust bunnies come from??????

Well, I went grocery shopping (definitely a necessity) with hubby ~ which makes it more fun and now I'm just relaxing and sipping a cup of tea. Ahhhh Saturday ... wonderful isn't it. After my tea, I will go into the living room and play ~ ((Hugs))

Hi Kim! I've been puttering around my little condo cottage today ------ fluffing! I decided to sit down and catch up reading my favorite blogs. I so enjoy your's. Your's was the first blog I started reading and following. As I've said before, you are a constant source of inspriation to me. Thank you for being here and sharing your life, home and family! Jana in Texas

Not playing exactly but I feel good about getting a lot done today! This morning I primed the face frames of the lower kitchen cabinets, baked bread and a chocolate cake, 3 loads of laundry and now, well ok, now I'm playing by visiting you! Your beautiful, cheery home always makes me smile Kim:>) Have a great weekend!

Straightening the sewing room and trying to find new hiding places for too much stuff in a room that is too little.
Would you help???

well lets see....I'm taking a break from cleaning house for "company" tonight. We'll be sitting on the patio eating shrimp with an "adult beverage" and playing some kind of game after dinner.

These are gorgeous pictures. Especially love the first one.

Have started my own vintage inspired blog...

spring sounds so close by - i could hardly wait. i'm so enjoying our grandson and hearing my son laz playing his guitar- just hanging out doing whatever and having fun doing it. hubby doing some remodeling and i'm making sure he has his hot cup of coffee/tea. it's raining/snowing today - Praise God for his beauty -

love ya, maria - cottage feel -

I went to see 'The King's Speech' (LOVED it) and took dog for 2 walks today.
Off for burgers in awhile.

Jill, love that stack of vintage plates. Aren't they great? I love that your home is you, decorated the way you love. My home looks like a grandmother's home, doilies, books, knick-knacks~~but that is the look I love and I have been a grandmother for almost 7 years now...Enjoy playing and the weekend. Can you send some Florida sunshine here?

Yep---playing as well. I've been writing for two days, a several-chapters thing about memories of music, and just turned off the burner on a big pot of beans and got a sweet potato casserole ready to pop into the oven. Pork chops brining for supper.

Biding for Spring, and somehow all the pinks we've distributed around the house are BRIGHTING me almost as much as your own cheery colors.

Hope you're as warm as your welcome every day!

Hey Kim, Yep, I'm just surfing my favorite blogs while I am a free minute! I love your photos...especially that framed embroidery work...gorgeous! xoxo Beth

We got our little yorkie, Chloe, a new ball and I've been sitting here watching her play with it. She barks as she throws it around and hits it with her paws as her little tail is wagging like crazy!! It is so much fun watching her have fun!!

I'm playing, too! Been crafting all afternoon - just took a little break to play on the computer now! Love your pics, Kim - so cheery! Ahhhhh . . . . . now back to my tea, and painting. Enjoy your weekend, dear!

Judy in California

It's raining here in California again so I made soup to keep warm, did some hand sewing on my aprons, read a few chapters of a book, looked thru a bunch old quilting magazines I bought at an estate sale yesterday and did some paperwork for the Woman's Club. Your first photo of the dessert plates looks like my collection. We could host a Pretty Tea Party for a few hundred. I'll get started on the baking early tomorrow morning! I love playing house and looking out the kitchen window into my yard! Now I need to check out lauralovesroses blog.

Went to a family lunch/party today to celebrate my Uncle's 90th birthday. It was so much fun to visit with family and see Aunts and cousins I had not seen in a while. On the way home stopped at Goodwill for some thrifting..... a favorite of mine! Found some beautiful milk glass. 70's here tomorrow. I think spring is just around the corner. Love & blessings from NC!

Beautiful photos! As for me, I've been *playing* on the computer for way too much time this Saturday! I had so many wonderful blogs to read! My weekend began though with my mama coming to spend the night with us! This a.m. I cooked a big breakfast: fried eggs over easy, thick slices of low sodium bacon, wheat toast! Yum! Of course washed down with a good ol' cup of coffee! She left around 2 p.m. I then did a tad of organizing in my office. That was of course before blogworld sucked me in!

I'm washing my ruffly curtains in the hopes that spring cleaning will result in a bit of springlike weather instead of more snow!

Trish Rowley

Hi Kim, I am doing some embroidery on a quilt that I am making called Jane Austen's Bonnet this is my first block of a 12 month block of the month. It's keeping me busy and it will be a good project over the winter months. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Trish xox ;)

This was a BIG cleaning day for me, change the sheets, dusting, windex, mopping ,washing rugs and Sofa throws, You get the idea. Time to put out some spring colors. Even managed to bake a turkey, who says it has to be only eaten on holidays. Then i will make gumbo, with left overs .BUT I Plan to play tomorrow, husband has to work , so going with my grown sons Bowling, Haven't done it in years. Guess i better go dig out my Pink ball, Love the plates . i Been debating on getting a bunch of all the same , or all different . NOW I think it will be more fun collecting them one a time, and will give me another excuse to hit the flea markets more often. Thanks for the lovely pictures. Please let us know the kind of camera you use.

Sigh...I love spring I love all the colors in this beautiful photo post! I had two wonderful days this week of "hunting" Oh, the pure simple joy! *laughing*

I've been playing today too. I just finished decorating another little white birdcage tea light for my niece. I placed her birthday earrings inside :) Boxed some homemade cookies for her little ones (my great nieces) and delivered them this evening. I've been a pink mood for the past month...sigh

Well, daughter and I have been playing with a box of puppies. I believe we've been approved as adoptive family for one little girl. So exciting! xx

Sandi ~ A Cottage Muse

Hi Kim...I am recuperating, resting on the couch by the window watching the snow fall ~ enjoying your music and your colorful world! Thank you!

Barbara Anne

I'm a bit under the weather so have been sitting quietly looking a back issues of Cottage Living (miss that magazine!) and Country Living magazines.

I did put a wintery plaid pillow away and get a floral tapestry pillow out. The floral tapestry looks so pretty in my vintage sage green velvet chair.

Do you leave your lovely old plate stacked like they are in the 1st photo or do you separate them using coffee filters (or something else) for storage?

Happy today!

Germ-free hugs!

Judy A

I'm envious of your playing! The calm in your home is so refreshing, as I iron, vacuum, and clean up the ol' vacuum sweeper while my 1-yr old naps. Thanks for a little "vacation!"

My three-year-old daughter and I painted with oranges. I love your photos!

I spent the weekend have good friends over. We went to the Biltmore Estate for a day. Have fun conversations in front of the fire with a glass of wine each evening....

As usual darling pictures. Yes, I think spring is in the air. Washed some windows on the inside and out this weekend. Took an afternoon walk today, think March winds have already started here in Oklahoma. Love, Cindy

Hey Kim,
I've been cleaning in our bedroom. Cleared out the too big clothes(hooray) from the drawers and closet, making room for new(smaller) clothes. Such rewarding work.
Thanks for asking.

Yvonne @ StoneGable

Oh, I am so ready for spring! I love your bright fun pictures!
So pretty!

Hi Kim,
Because we are still in the dead of Winter, I have lost all desire to play...I'm fresh out of inspiration!
My son was down in Florida a short while ago, in the most southerly area of your state, I can't remember right off what area it was. They drove down the western side and home the eastern seashore. He loved Florida because it was so warm. He came home to -25 deg. Celsius!
Hugs, Cindy

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

  • "What I love best about Daisy Cottage is Kim. I love the way you appreciate every good thing in life and embrace joy in every moment." ~ Rose

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

  • "Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

  • "Your words and thoughts of encouragement help me see myself with value. You are a blessing. Thank you." ~ Tracy

Thank you Karen!

  • "Your humble spirit has not changed through your many posts here in Blogland. You have been blessed with a special gift and I am very thankful you share it with us." ~ Karen

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
