What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true!

Kim
So yes please tell me what you are up to today while I wash and fold and wash and fold and.....

Good Morning, Kim,
I actually wish I was on your porch folding clothes with you! It looks so inviting there!!
I am teaching school today...and we have parent teacher conferences tonight, so it is an especially long day. It is nice to have the opportunity to visit with the parents of our students though.
Kim, I will finish a little bit of laundry that I have left to do. I just got home from the Dr. as I have bronchitis, but nothing a BIG FAT shot and a Z-PAK can't take care of. I'll probably nap a little and have some soup ;) Have a wonderful day!
Good morning, Kim! I am sipping a cuppa Earl Grey while looking at the pretty snow before it melts. Then I will be doing chores, just not laundry today. And then carpool. And then the barn for my daughter's riding lesson.
Would LOVE to be on the back porch doing laundry!
But...as fate would have it, I am on the computer, in my little home office...asking the question: Dear sore throat, WHY?
We are hovering around zero degrees here in Oklahoma.
However, Spring is on the horizon...I so look forward to the smell of flowers, once again...the warm breezes...the green grass...and last but not least...the opportunity to PAINT once again.
Furniture that is :)-
Thank you for sharing your laundry with us, Kim...we love you!
laundry doesn't seem near as fun at my house. If I folded on my deck...would you wear a parka, mittens and boots and come visit with me? I will make coffee.
ok we will do it at your place, it's much nicer there!
Just received a 1917 singer that I had ordered. Beautiful machine but the box was smashed and the bottom of the case was smashed. The needle and one of the attachments were on the wrong side of the styrofoam and the thread spool pin is missing. So torn because it runs and sounds good and we can make a new case but would like the manual and spool pins
Really wanted to use it and it is just all covered in good old victorian gold and red and it is so lovely.
Not sure happy or sad - more happy than sad. I'll get it fixed for sure! It is beautiful.
Well, Kim, I'm certainly not on the back porch as it is -7 celsius and full of snow! I think it would be awesome to be able to do laundry that way though. There's something kind of romantic about it. I suppose in reality it isn't romantic though. I did do my laundry and washed and ironed some vintage linens that I use for table tops. I wanted to hang them on the line but it was too cold. They always smell so lovely after being on the line don't they? Have a blessed day! Pamela
I am in Sebring Fla. (and glad to be rather than in Indiana) doing my laundry in the hotel laundry room. Just taking a break to check my email and read my favorite blogs.
Wished my laundry room looked like yours! I'm cleaning out old files and shredding. Trying to get an organization going around this household. Love from Okla, Cindy
Pretty weather finally ahead in the forecast!
I am sitting here reading blogs, posting snow pictures on mine and waiting for our 25 inches of snow to melt so we can get out. Record breaking here in N.W. Arkansas. So reading, scrapbooking and blogging for me this day...not a bad day :)
Just finished sharing leftover Chinese takeout with Grand #6---that girl REALLY likes crab Rangoon.
She's allowed a ten-minute Fifi and the Flowertots before we go up for her nap, and I may have to struggle to get her undressed for bed---she's wearing flannel pants, a turtleneck, her tutu, ballet slippers, and apron and a tiara.
Washer and dryer are both humming, and I'll spend the naptime folding those warm, clean clothes and doing a little vacuuming---we've made so many Valentines lately we have tee-ninecy scraps of red and pink paper all over the carpet. And do you have any idea how much snowfall can occur from paper doilies?
SUNNY here today, but 2 degrees when I awoke, and only 18 now. Birdies in the driveway have been munching on warm food all morning, and drinking warmed water from a big plastic pot-saucer. Life as usual.
Hi Kim! Today I'm working on a digital collage for Crowabout. It's been awhile since I've participated in the group so I'm determined to finish! Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Terri
Sorry to tell you that I am also doing laundry. Lots of laundry. Spring cleaning amounts of laundry. Just wish I could do it outdoors like you do. Have a great today, Kim. :)
Suzanne from Boynton
I too am catching up on the laundry here today. Wishing it was about 55 degrees and I could hang it out on the clothesline. Don't you just love sheets after they've dried outside on a cool spring day?
I love doing laundry, and I guess I will tell you about my morning: I got up, did morning chores, and I went and walked six miles, then I came home the long way (back roads, you know how I like them, and I got three nice pictures) stopped at the apple orchard and bought more homegrown popcorn from the apple farmer, and I came home and ate a bowl of my homemade Garden Minestrone soup for lunch, yum! Now, I am heading upstairs to my craft/sewing room to try to finish sorting! The sun is shining and I am COLD, but it's a great day!
Love your laundry porch, it's so sweet as is that blue apron, I have a couple like that. :0)
XOXO
Joni
I'm working on a room re-do in our home and putzin around fluffing stuff! I also just put dinner in the oven! It is sunny here today, but in the negatives with the wind chill. Oh to be on the porch doing laundry....
Hey Kim, loved yesterday's post which I just got to read today. I am cleaning bird cages - not my favorite job but an absolutely important and very necessary one - and getting ready to venture out in the cold to do some errands. Wish I was hanging out with you on your adorable porch! Well, a girl CAN dream, right? ;-) xoxo
I am crocheting on a lilac hooded cape for my beautiful 2 week old grandbaby, Lilly. That makes me very happy. I do however have to go to work at 2:30 this afternoon at a job that I dislike very much. The office I worked in closed and this has been the only job I have been able to find....factory work. It is hard but I am thankful I at least have a job. Meanwhile I will continue to search for a better fit job....and read your blog to perk me up! <3
I am avoiding housework, contemplating a sewing project, browsing through some new library books that I would like to sit and read, and perusing through the blogs.
Maybe at some point, I will actually accomplish something!
I got in line at 7:45 a.m. to get into a church rummage sale that started at 9:00. Found a few goodies, so I guess it was worth it! (Now I'm ready for a nap, but I have laundry to do also.)
Kim,
I'm also doing laundry. Like you, we live in an old bungalow. In its earlier days our laundry room was a utility porch, but it has now been enclosed. With two large windows overlooking our backyard, it makes for a pleasant place to do laundry - when it must be done. ;-)
Love your pictures! I hope Marley has forgiven you by now.
I am having two really lovely friends over for lunch. I have made: roasted new potatoes, crispy Asian chicken and rocket salad followed by homemade mango ice-cream tickled with crushed maltesers.
I've cooked breakfast and got a granddaughter off to school (2hours late cause we had snow last night). Dishes, laundry (in my not so pretty corner of the garage), sorting through a pile of mail-a task I put off way too long, looking for a recipe for apple butter, and heating up leftover hamburger-veggie soup for lunch. I live such an exciting life.
Oh and chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting for dessert:)
Laura what is rocket salad? Your lunch sounds lovely.
No school today because of yesterday's snowstorm, so I am enjoying doing all the bits of nothing that capture my fancy! Among these have been dreaming of Spring and my gardens!
I'm sitting at the computer while I should be getting ready for my quilt retreat this weekend. Lots of packing to do. I also need to get the house cleaned so it won't look quite so bad when I return. Unsupervised hubby and all....... :-)
i am cooking meatloaf, baked potatos, veggie, and choco pudding for dinner and for my dads dinner. i will be sending food over for my dad since my moms in the hospital.
but i have to say that you sure make laundry fun kim!
hugs, linda
I am also doing laundry in my basement today while watching my grandaughters. My basement is not finished-it is an old house around 1930 and in spring has a bad habit of leaking water on the floor. However, I hung up pretty pics, some laundry signs and a rag rug in the laundry area. I am thankful for my washer and dryer as I remember days of the laundromat. Love the smell of clean clothes. Blessed. Love from ILLinois - Kathy C
At work now, going home and putting a 2nd coat of red paint on my mirror. I just fell in love with yours! Now I'll be on the hunt for more mirrors at GH.
Today I am sitting on the sofa...like I have been doing for a week now. My back is out and I'm not allowed to do anything. Doing laundry even sounds fun to me!!:)
I am on the mend...so I'm sure chores won't sound so fun in about a week or so.
~Cindy~
Laundry, also...but it is SO much fun to do this type laundry....baby clothes, bibs and bedding from the 2 day visit of our adorable little 8 month old granddaughter. Nothing sweeter than folding little ruffly dresses and sweet smelling baby items : ) I swear I hear her precious little giggle with every item I pick up to fold. Also arrange a huge fres flower arrangement of baby pink tulips to put in my kitchen. LOVE pink! I'm close o Houston Tx and it's 24 degrees again today. Yikes...not the norm for us and I'm forcing Spring feel in my house : ) Happy laundrying to you!!
*sigh* it looks so warm there:>} I't about 16 degrees here but I'm warm inside baking brownies and cookies for the church bake sale. I can't wait to hang my clothes on the line again in spring!
It's my day off and I'm doing laundry too, but not on my porch! It's freezing cold here in Wisconsin and I long for the days when I can be hanging out my laundry in the fresh air! Have a lovely day everyone!
Today, I washed my outdoor dec. pillows. Dreaming of spring even though we still have traces of snow on the ground...I just know Spring is going to pop up before we know it, so I decided I'd get things ready for some good ole porch time. (Laundry Not Included)!
Cathy [email protected]
I'm nursing my injured right hand today - and wishing I could be decorating Valentine cupcakes now instead - but your cheery post has brightened up my otherwise messed up day! Thanks, Kim! I needed that!
It's been cold today so I decided to go through my mother's saved Christmas/birthday/holiday cards from the mid to late 1990s and early 2000s to keep the ones near and dear to my heart and those worthy of framing. The large box that held these card and envelopes is in the recycling as are the many card backs and envelopes.
Do you frame greeting cards as wonderful seasonal and really inexpensive art once matted and framed? I do! In the true confession department, I have more saved than I'll ever possibly have wall space for.
Hi Kim ~ worked today and I would MUCH rather be doing laundry ~ call me crazy but I LOVE doing laundry ;-) Tonight I'm making vegetarian mushroom soup ~ yummy
xo
Working at a law office. Listening to people gripe, taking a much needed break. It is 7 degrees here, your blog lets me think of warm wonderful things!
You make doing laundry sound like fun! My laundry is in the storage area. Not too fun. I'm running errands today and getting my hair done in the afternoon.
Today my husband had a vacation day, so we slept in (so cold who wants to even get UP on these winter mornings?) and then I head off for a beauty day- got m y hair done, massage, then some shopping. Came home to consider what to fix for dinner and husband said "Let's go get Italian!" So, um, was a perfect day.
Just finishing packing ( it is evening) because tomorrow I am headed for a couple of days with girl friends out of town.
Life is pretty savory.
Never even thought of laundry today! ; - )
But then again if I had a nice day to do laundry on a nice back porch.................nah. Even then don't think I would wanna!
Hi Kim, today I have been to patchwork had a great time with the girls that I haven't seen for some time (actually since I was sick last year with that collapsed lung) anyway we had a great morning then lunch. I came home checked out ebay for a dining table (its out there somewhere) got tired of ebay so I thought that I would visit you before starting my ironing and dinner, all in all it has been a good day. I hope that yours has too. Trish xox ;)
I'm at home sick with a terrible cold and sinus infection. BUT, I feel very blessed to have a warm home, a caring husband that will make me soup, and two kitties that stay by my side when I'm sick. They do a very good job keeping me comfortable and cozy.
"It's people like yourself that make everything beautiful and worthwhile."

Thank You Ida!
Kim I just wanted to thank you again for allowing us into your sweet home! I absolutely loved being there and looking around with you. Your hospitality and sweet spirit make the home even more beautiful! Thanks for reminding me that one day I too will have my "dream come true!" ~ Ida - MOPS Member
Thank You Jane!
"I just discovered your blog and am blown away with the comfortable, almost nostalgic feel of it...almost like finding a long-lost friend after many years apart...somehow familiar, but all so exciting and new." ~ Jane
Thank You Dena!
"Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena
Thank You Grace!
"I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace
Thank You Francesca!
"Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca
Thank You Kathy!
"I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy
Thank you Rue!
"That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue
Thank You Jeanette!
"Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette
Thank You Lenna!
"My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists.
In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna
Thank You Rose!
"What I love best about Daisy Cottage is Kim. I love the way you appreciate every good thing in life and embrace joy in every moment."
~ Rose
Thank You Lisa!
"Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.
Thank you Pamela!
"I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela
Thank you Joy!
"Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy
Thank You Anne!
"Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
Thank You Tracy!
"Your words and thoughts of encouragement help me see myself with value. You are a blessing. Thank you."

Thank you Karen!
"Your humble spirit has not changed through your many posts here in Blogland. You have been blessed with a special gift and I am very thankful you share it with us." ~ Karen
Thank You Betty Jo!
"You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo

Hello Kim,
I am cleaning my studio and bathrooms.
The studio is in our basement and it is C-O-L-D down(61F) there, so I am splitting my time between upstairs and down.
Studio cleaning is fun, because discoveries hidden by messes get unearthed;D And I figure out which project to do next...
I'd love to come and help you fold laundry on your sweet porch!
Peace,
Donna

However, I hung up pretty pics, some laundry signs and a rag rug in the laundry area. I am thankful for my washer and dryer as I remember days of the laundromat. Love the smell of clean clothes. Blessed. Love from ILLinois - Kathy C

At work now, going home and putting a 2nd coat of red paint on my mirror. I just fell in love with yours! Now I'll be on the hunt for more mirrors at GH.

Nothing as pleasant. I just finished washing and grooming the poodle. She's now giving me a quite proper cold shoulder so I'm visiting you.

Today I am sitting on the sofa...like I have been doing for a week now. My back is out and I'm not allowed to do anything. Doing laundry even sounds fun to me!!:)
I am on the mend...so I'm sure chores won't sound so fun in about a week or so.

I just sat down to rest from folding my towels... honest. The older I get, the more it seems the laundry does ME.
Pleasant day, Miss Kim,
Julia~

*sigh* it looks so warm there:>} I't about 16 degrees here but I'm warm inside baking brownies and cookies for the church bake sale. I can't wait to hang my clothes on the line again in spring!

Wishing I could do ANYTHING on my porch - it's buried in snow! The robins are here so spring can't be too far away!

I went to Costco this morning, so I'm organizing my pantry! The hardest part is done -- carrying in all of the cases of canned goods and boxes.

Love your laundry baskets!
Hugs!

HUGS!

Oh how I wish my laundry room was as pretty as yours. Mine is in a dreary basement.
I'm working today and then the weekend will be here. Sunday we are expecting sunshine and temps in the mid 40s. It will feel like heaven in Ohio.
Have a great weekend, Kim! La

I'm at home sick with a terrible cold and sinus infection. BUT, I feel very blessed to have a warm home, a caring husband that will make me soup, and two kitties that stay by my side when I'm sick. They do a very good job keeping me comfortable and cozy.
