Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

So so so cute!!

I think maybe we just want to play a little before the dreaded deed;). Too,too sweet.

I sometimes hide too at bath time. He is just adorable.

Barbara F

:-) They are so smart sometimes

That is tooo funny. Mindy runs for the hills when we ask her if she wants a bath!:)
Have a great day!

Kitchen Witch

Awww. When I adopted my dog, they'd dubbed him "King George" and so it stuck. His name is fitting most when he's been bathed and is being brushed after. See, he's a Pekingese and he has longer hair. He hold his head sooo high (as if he really is royalty) when he's being "groomed", I should post pics one day. Ahh, I love dogs : ) Thanks for sharing yours!

This is so little girl tries to make herself smaller. I think in her mind she thinks she won't be seen!

Too cute.....I'm sure he will look even more handsome after his bath though.

What a cute photo!!!!

And she "hides" so

Mine does the same thing only usually under the bed. A neat photo - you always capture such "sweet moments" with your camera.

Nancy Maisenbach

So cute! Same thing with our mini Dash-hound named Doggie Browser MD (Miniature Dash-hound). The inspiration for Doggie's name was the TV show Doggie Houser MD. Thanks for the giggle and the memory as our Doggie is in dog heaven now.

Barbara Anne

Too funny! Isn't it interesting what words our pets tune in to? "Go" is a happy favorite, but "bath" sends most of them under the bed.

Still laughing!

sue silva

Dogs are 100% LOVE and humans lucky enough to live with them are truly blessed.

Carrie Merth

Our dog does the same thing... hates bath.

Alice from Arkansas

Kimberly Padilla

How cute! I don't know of any animal, which really likes a bath. My guinea pigs hate baths! My hamster takes sand baths.I have never seen an animal enjoy being bathed, though they rest so peacefully afterward. Blessings!

Kimberly C.

Susie Sears Taylor

Her black and white fur coat looks perfect withe the red and white checked table cloth...soooooo Daisy Cottage-ish

Sami Jo

little sweety - I love his little black nose peaking out.

Nooks & Cranberries

How precious. To think that he'd be afraid of something so nice and cozy as a warm bath on a chilly autumn day! Great photo--good job capturing a moment.

That is so cute!! When my LittleJohn was alive he use to run and hide under the clawfoot tub and we couldn't get him out when he heard the word bath or saw us gathering up items for his bath. They are so smart.

Toni @ The Tattered Cottage

Oh My Gosh....He is soooo adorable! So typical of little boys, who usually believe a little dirt never hurt anyone :)

Enjoyed the laugh this morning. So cute.

Hi Kim,
Aww! My girl used to hide, run, and become the invisible dog! even though she was right in front of you."Kona" thought if she didn't listen to you and curl herself up into a tiny ball in her bed, she was invisible. LOL (We miss her)
I love your post!
Have a sweet day and big hugs, Elizabeth

Poor Marley. He is so sweet.

We have had our dog (got her from Animal Rescue League) for about two weeks. She smelled so bad when we brought her home, we just had to give her a bath. i was not sure how it would go....but she jumped right in and stood like a show dog.

i think i could give her a bath every day and she would be happy! LOL (we are pretty sure she has lab in her...and they typically love water).

i love your pic of your little one though...very cute!

Say "spa treatment" next time.

Ah, yes, that 4 letter word.... our Sam hides behind the bbq if the door to the deck is open, otherwise he runs to his bed and sits with his back to you. Perhaps he thinks if he doesn't see us, the bath doesn't exist? But the treats after are always gladly received!

Ricki Jill Treleaven

Aw, how adorable is he??? God bless him! I hope he got lots and lots of treats after bath time!

Our dogs hide when they see the brush!

Alison Gibbs

I love the way that they hide when they know it is bath time. We used to have to chase our dog when it was bath time.

Patti VZ

LOL!! Love it, Kim! What a sweet little old man!

Vivian Roberts

Omg! Omg! I received the magazine today, Where Women Create, and it is so amazing. Kim I thought your cottage was outstanding until I saw the pictures in this magazine, it just took my breath away. I will spent hours and hours with this magazine, thank you so much, you are a sweetheart, and you are an amazing lady. Thanks again, love Vivian .....

Captured that one perfectly, Kim.

Ha Ha he reminds me of what our cat used to do;)

You have a wonderful gift of being able to capture the special moment in a photograph. He is adorable.

Some words just shouldn't be spoken out loud.

Cute picture

Patty O'Malley

Awww, poor thing! That photo is precious!

Joy Jones

Tooooo Cute!!! I KNOW that look too....Barkley won't even follow me into a bathroom anymore...just in case...LOL....~ xo Joy

Trish Rowley

Hi Kim, Marley is sooo cute. Both of our Poodles do the same thing the little one shakes and the big boy runs and hides at the very mention of the word bath although Beau the big boy can be convinced with a little treat they are so funny. Have a great day Trish xox ;)

What a cute picture. Our dog knows a lot of words, but not bath. Love & blessings from NC!

So funny!

Dont you love it!!! It took 2 of us to get my beagle in the bath on saturday because we made the mistake of washing the chihuahua first!!! She definitely knows the word BATH! hee! hee! So cute! karen....

kim sills

Please do not give me a bath! This is really cute!

Sooo cute!
Hugs, Cindy

it's a male thing - marley, it's going to be okay and over with, mommie is gentle - my koda likes all the rubs and falls a sleep during her brushing, too cute.

love ya, maria - cottage feel -

How cute and funny! If he would have gotten just a little further back. Can remember when hubby would give "Little Squirt" our sheltie we had when my sons were young. He looked like a little drowned rat, but was so pretty after he got dried off and brushed. Cindy -OKla

That's the best...My cheeks hurt from smiling.

Poor, poor Marley!

Awwwwwww!!!! What a cutie you are Marley!

G from GA

Sweet Marley put a smile on my face. My dog doesn't like baths either.

Have a wonderful weekend.

OMG, my pet does the same thing. Thank you for the lovely comment you left on my blog.

Love Lisa xx

And if yours is like mine, you can't even SPELL it, he knows it!!!! Yikes, they are so smart. Blessings, Janet

Donna, The Decorated House

Hi Marley!
I bet you smell so sweet about right now. And I'm sure you got a nice treat for being such a good boy.

Lots of Hugs Kim, to You and the sweet Doggies.

pogonip@ Meadowsweet Cottage

That's my boy! Funny how they love running through a muddy stream, but want nothing to do with warm water and shampoo ;)

Kim, This is adorable!!!

Cathy ~ Tadpoles and Teacups

HAHA! Our dog has the same opinion about baths too!!

A great moment captured for such a cute photo.

This pic reminds me of my dogs that I rescued a while back. They are both gone now...
they both hated baths and that was the word that made my Pooch run and hide in my girls closet... Love your pic :)

That pic made me LOL. Too cute.

  • "I just discovered your blog and am blown away with the comfortable, almost nostalgic feel of it...almost like finding a long-lost friend after many years apart...somehow familiar, but all so exciting and new." ~ Jane

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

  • "What I love best about Daisy Cottage is Kim. I love the way you appreciate every good thing in life and embrace joy in every moment." ~ Rose

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

  • "Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

  • "Your words and thoughts of encouragement help me see myself with value. You are a blessing. Thank you." ~ Tracy

Thank you Karen!

  • "Your humble spirit has not changed through your many posts here in Blogland. You have been blessed with a special gift and I am very thankful you share it with us." ~ Karen

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
