It's acorn season. They are dropping and dropping and I mean they ARE dropping. Everywhere. But they are cute. Well they are cute until you step on one in your bare feet. And this being Florida, it is STILL barefoot season. No matter that it is October - we hit 92 degrees today.
This little one seems to be enjoying its solitude ...
It also remains lizard season. It is lizard season every day of the year here. They are also everywhere. And yes Maggie keeps her hunting license current and EVERY day she goes out and tries and tries AGAIN to catch one.
Yes, there was a really BIG lizard sitting on top of this bench.
Maggie was hot on its trail ...
Unfortunately for her, but NOT the lizard, her plan of attack didn't quite pan out ...
You can't tell her though. In her doxie mind, she NOSE what she is doing.
;-)
Kim
Wow, was 92 here (Texas), too! ; )Glad we're not the only ones.

Lucky you! It was 50 F or about 10 celsius here in New Brunswick, Canada today. Tomorrow will be about 15 celsius (60 F) which is warmer than normal. Sometimes I wish I could live in a warmer climate but I don't think I'd like the bugs or the lizards LOL. I love your blog and it is first one I ever looked at! Enjoy your nice fall.

It was a nice, warm & windy day in Ohio until a storm blew in....now it's in the 50s.
Some day...Miss Maggie's perseverance will pay off. :o) La

Maggie, you go girl. One day you will catch that lizard.

Very funny! Your Maggie is so adorable. My Maggie would be very jealous of that lovely, shiny coat. But, my Maggie does have better luck in the hunting of lizards, not so good for me or the lizard.
It's good to visit here, dear Kim. My sweet father died one month ago and I've been away. Your happy blog and your humor gave me a chuckle when I needed one today! Thank you, Kim.

You are still going barefoot? It is so cold here and yesterday we gt snow! I love acorns, as we returned from our vacation I brought home a big bag of them for my house. Love your sweet dog, she could not be more beautiful! :D

Yes...those acorns can be sharp!! Most of ours have dropped...so have the temps, it's 55 degrees {in Chicago}. I am loving it though. I'm pulling out all of my sweaters tomorrow!!
That Maggie is always such a treat to visit with!!

I've never seen so many acorns before,,I have inches and inches of acorns in my yard. Is that a sign of a cold winter !?

We have loads of nuts, acorns and otherwise, so walking outdoors is risky. It's like the ground is covered with marbles or ball bearings and you have to look where you step or you can turn your ankle. It's just when you want to look up and around at the glorious autumn colors in every direction.
Sorry Maggie, I'm on the side of the lizards!
Hugs!

Enjoy the last bits of your summer! Maggie has such a wistful look on her face! I thought acorns were much bigger! I have never seen one in real life,we don't have them here in our area.
keep well

I absolutely love that last picture of Maggie's nose poking through the bench. It's been too long since I had a dog :(

Oh wow! I am going to stop complaining. It's been in the 70s in New York, (60s at night) with 90% humidity. I have been complaining sooo much. I can't imagine having 92 degree weather again. Thanks for the cute post. Maggie is adorable, as usual! Blessings!

Maggie looks so determined! I'm glad it's starting to cool off here in Arizona. The lizards don't come out much this time of year. Not that I mind lizards but our cat likes to bring them in the house and place them on my feet while I'm working at my desk. She's sweet like that.

Acorns are everywhere here in Ontario and it was warm and mild around 70 until the cold front blew in and now it's in the 50's. We also have black walnuts ~ there were so many we couldn't believe it. The trees are starting to turn beautiful colours.
Maggie is adorable, you can tell from her face that she is concentrating on catching the elusive lizard....whatchout here she comes Mr. Lizard!
Have a great day

As my grandmother used to say.."Every dog has it's day!" Miss Maggie will have her day with the lizards! Love that last shot...sniffing them out!

We have skinks and chipmunks that run across our porch in the summer here in VA. It drives my indoor cats nuts! And I think the squirrels know they can't get out, because they sit just in the grass and taunt the boys. Fun pictures!

Love the pictures of Maggie! The last one reminded me of our Lab who would lay for hours on our deck watching a nestfull of baby robins through the cracks.

Go Maggie! She looks so beautifully groomed, too. We just have lots and lots of fallen leaves in our yard. Pretty though, like a golden blanket.

OOOOhhhh I'll trade you a bag of buckeyes or pine cones for a bag of acorns!!!
Happy autumn, even with your 92 degree weather, Kim!

We don't have acorns...we have the bigger version....walnuts! LOL...We do however have those little lizzards along with tons and tons of squirrles. My boys are avid hunters too and are always hot on their trail. Your little Maggie is such a cutie pie...I always love seeing pics of her and hearing about all her little adventures!!!!!

It was 40 this morning in Ok., but will be in the high 60's or low 70's this afternoon. I love early fall if there isn't wind involved, but in Ok. you can almost count on some wind to be involved. I did live in Port St John, Florida yrs ago and I remember my girls wearing shorts to school almost year round.Maggie is too cute and it looks as though she couldn't miss with that intense look on her face. Lol

I had forgotten how much I love those darling little acorns! I haven't seen them in recent years since we live in the high mountain desert. Thank you for sharing. xo ~ Leslie

It's acorn season here too in NH. We seem to have about a million squirrels in our yard trying to gather them but they'll never keep up. Warm in NH too-75 today!

Maggie knows ( nose) where the adventure is.Giggle, think she might catch one some day, then what?
Looking at all of those acorns made me remember when I was young making little acorn men.
Wishing you a joy filled day, Hugs!

How sweet Maggie's adventure is captured here. Maybe we should follow our instincts a bit more too?! Have a nice warm autumn/acorn day! We already wear our wintercoats and boots, although.... the weatherman told us we'll get a warm weekend. I hope so because I'm having my birthday-party on Saturday...... XXX Nina.
