It has been very cloudy and rainy here. And we have had several really bad lightning storms too. Poor Maggie runs for my lap - on the rare occasion when she is not already on it - and shakes until the bad "boom booms" go away.
But even though it has been a bit gloomy I've still been able to not only make tuna fish sandwiches but do my laundry on the laundry porch too.
;-)
So that's a good thing. Except when a BIG bright bolt of lightning comes down and I jump and hurry back inside.
Don't tell Maggie but I'm pretty darn scared of lightning too.
xo,
Kim
Poor little Maggie. I can see you two snuggled up together waiting out the storm.
I need a laundry porch. I have to go down in our basement where there are creepy crawlies.
Have a wonderful day, Kim. I hope it will be sunny in Florida for you and Maggie today. La

Kim - it's o.k. I'm afraid of the lightning and thunder too! Cuddle up with Maggie and wait out the storm.
Hopefully the sun will shine soon
((((Hugs))))

Thank goodness for porches! I used to be scared of thunderstorms, but lately I like to sit on our porch and watch them roll through, as long as they're not tooooo bad!
Kim, I wanted to thank you for inspiring me to finally paint a piece of furniture that I've wanted to change for a few years now, but was too afraid to take the plunge. I love it, and can't believe I waited so long. Come take a look if you get the chance. Thanks again for your color inspiration!

You have a great laundry porch. The container for the laundry detergent is terrific. (from previous posts) Someday in our old house, we'll do something like yours....but in the old rustic unfinished basement. Can't wait!

Oh, a good thunderstorm sounds wonderful right about now. Everything is so dry...that late August kinda dry that we get here in Southern Cal. We hit a record 108 (yikes) yesterday. I'm willing fall to come...stay safe and dry. Patty

Your blog is such a happy place Kim.

I was always afraid when I was a little girl of storms and my grandmother would tell us that was just God moving the furniture around in heaven. HE sure does make a lot of noise sometimes. My little Gracie is afraid of storms too. She will get up in my lap or try to hide under some cover til the storm is gone. Rainy days are good days to do laundry and I love your laundry porch.
Hope you and Maggie have a wonderful day.

I love storms, but not lightening or wind so much. Our mama cat goes under the guest room bed or the couch when there's thunder booming.
I can just see little Maggie snuggled and feeling safer in your loving lap! Isn't the trust of our little chums touching?
Hugs!

Don't you just love covered hangers? My great grandmother made me atleast a hundred. I adore them! They are all the same color - so sweet. Whenever I am doing my laundry and hanging up my clothes, I think of her. Goes to show that you never know what you might leave behind for your loved ones that will be meaningful to them and that will remind them of you... it might just be a yarn covered wire hanger :)

I envy you your rain and thunderstorms. We could do with a spot of rain. Forecast is for rain on Tuesday. Fingers crossed and pretty please ;)

I'm scared of thunder and lightening too!
Your photos are gorgeous, and I'm sitting here trying to figure out where I can get some of those oh-so-cute hangerz now!

Hi Kim!
I love lightning but am terrified of the thunder. If Maggie didn't come running for me I'd be running to find her to cuddle up with until it passed, LOL! When it thundered my mother always said the angels were bowling and the really, really loud ones were strikes :)
While the storms themselves are kinda scary don't you just love the way the air smells and feels after a good storm? Even if you are somewhere humid all the plants and leaves have been washed off by the rain and everything looks so much cleaner and brighter. Maybe God decided he needed to do laundry too :)

Stay safe Kim! Lightning scares me too!

Love your hangers and laundry room. That's what I need to do, is fix up my laundry room so it's very cheerful and inviting! We had a really good rain too, but mostly just thunder. As my grandmother used to say that's just an old potato wagon crossing through the clouds with potatoes falling out, because the farmer forgot to shut the back of the wagon. Cindy - Okla

Whenever I hear a thunderstorm it reminds me that I'm still a playful kid inside......makes me feel really young again.....not to say what it does for my blood pressure everytime there is a lightening strike!

I love the rain so much...Poor little Maggie! I also love your laundry porch. I just have a laundry closet, but I'm blessed to have it! I'm so thankful for my washer and dryer, right? I love what Anne said about God doing the laundry. It is so refreshing and clean after a good rain!

Kim, I'll bite - what do you put in your tuna sandwich? Oh, and I love Maggie, too. She can come to California and live with me -- rarely a thunderstorm here.

Kim,
The storms are the only thing I miss about living in Miami. Those were some fantastic storms and almost every afternoon. We haven't had hardly any rain this summer and I would just love to have an all day thunderstorm.

And where you live you should be concerned about the lightening! We are in the lightening capital of the world. Stay safe!! Love the pictures!!

I don't like lightening at all...we saw it hit a tree out front and then it traveled under our home and took out the pump to our well. Yes, it really scares me too!!

Sometimes rain makes me feel so cozy, especially when I am inside all safe and dry - thunder and lightening not so much! Especially since the area I live in is prone to power outages :-(......but it is the best thing for the garden!

Driving in a thunderstorm in Maryland some time ago, lightning hit a telephone pole right next to me. Complete whiteout and no visibility for a while. I stopped and was frozen in place for that period -- just glad I was grounded in my car!

Kim, I like the idea of your laundry porch. :) I enjoy seeing those crocheted hangar covers! I have a few that my mom had, and I enjoy them.
I CERTAINLY understand about the lightning!!

Here in our place we always experience thunder storm and lightnings in the sky. I'm always afraid of lightning. Don't worry just pray that the storm will calm down and no more lightnings.
