Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Drawn to the Sea

She is so gently beautiful, Kim, & so very lucky to be loved by you.

I grew up with dachshund's and they are the sweetest babies I've seen. She is absolutely gorgeous and I love the pictures of her. Definitely a special gift for you. Have a great week Sweetie!

Hugs ~ Laura

I think you love your Maggie like I love my Hagrid. I've seen him out in the middle of the yard looking up like that, but with his eyes closed. He must have been praying, or maybe in a zen meditation! Anyway, whatever he was doing, it made him happy-- and that makes me happy.

Julie Harward

I love her sweet face...and I know you will think I am crazy but you have the same sweetness in your face too! I just did a post today about my sweet animal...come see :D

Oh my goodness. I think I'm in love. Your blog is....well, sweet, relaxing & simply beautiful. So glad I found it.

Kimberly Padilla

She is so beautiful Kim! I am so happy that you glorified God in this post. I am thankful for all the blessings that He has given me too. . . even the tough times have been blessings in that they either taught me something or toughened me up. What a beautiful post and a delightful way to start the day! May God bless you and Maggie, and Marley and the rest of the family! Kimberly

Patti VZ

Great post, Kim! Just a relaxing visit with you...and thanking for all of our blessings.

Oh Kim what a wonderful post. We all should thank the good Lord for where we are in our life and the many blessings that he bestows upon us. Even if we are going through a hard time, we must look for the lessons to be learned and the wisdom to be gained.
Maggie is as adorable as ever ;-)
What a great start to our day. Thank you!

Sweet Maggie is taking time to stop and smell the roses. Have a wonderful day, Kim and Maggie! La

God's beauty is all around us isn't it? Even in sweet Maggie. Every day is a gift and we should awaken and take time to enjoy. You capture such beautiful pictures Kim.

Have a blessed day!

Yes, ma'am!

I'm head over heels in love with my Ben too, lol!

Sweet other words are necessary!

My little Doxie enjoys the garden, too. I'm missing him a lot this morning - the house just isn't the same without him. He is at my daughter's house and having fun with her children for about ten days while we go on vacation. We couldn't take him with us this time so he's doing what he loves - playing with the children! Thanks for sharing Maggie today. She's so sweet!

My mini doxie has the same sweet eyes and the earnestness, too. He has male pattern baldness, which I see Maggie does NOT have, her hair is GORGEOUS and makes her even more wistful and dear.

What a precious little soul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Patty M

Your girl is such a cutie...Her face is so full of life and her expressions are priceless. Love the wagging tail photo. Dogs are surely one of God's little blessings...Patty

I knew someone with a doxie named "Frankie" (a female) and another doxie name "Nathan" and yes, one named "Oscar" -

They are one of my favorite breeds. Great post Kim - owning a pet is one of life's many blessings!

I just adore that Maggie girl!! My Gracy (she is 10 and a beautiful gray schnauzer) and I do the same thing. Sometimes I just let her wonder all over the back yard and smile as she does something funny or sweet!! She sometimes looks back to make sure I am watching!!! God is so good to give us pets to love and enjoy!!! Terri

Barbara Anne

What a wonderful reminder to share time by sitting to enjoy nature's bounty with a dear friend!

As always, your photos tell the charming story and sweet little Maggie is a natural star. I certainly miss my dearly departed dogs when I see her.

Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions

She is a sweetie, Kim! I can just feel the heat of the sun on her silky hair. Enjoy! : )

My Blessed Serendipity Life

Maggie is so sweet. When you mentioned Maggie looking up and thanking God it brought back a memory I had as a little girl. My great grandma (I called her Nannie) used to say that when birds got a drink they would look up to heaven to thank God. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Kim I adore your blog.Everything about it is so sweet and peaceful! I read it daily for inspiration anf your pics are the best! kathy

Patty M

Kim, It's me again...I forgot to mention that I made your grandmama's banana nut bread this weekend. YUMMO! I hope you don't mind I linked to your recipe on my post today...Blessings sweet lady, Patty

The Lady of the House

She has such a sweet glimmer in her eye, Kim. I'm so glad you have her to enjoy.
Happy Day to you and your little gal, The Lady of the House

I wish we could get together so you could give my Maggie a hug and I could give one to your Maggie! They are an extesion of our very souls. Such sweet little puppies.

Linda from Heartfire At Home

Kim, I have absolutely no idea how it's taken me this long to find your magical blog...... your cottage is such a 'heart home'. And, your colours are pure sunshine for the soul!! I'm a 'red' girl myself, I have to have a touch of red in basically every room, I think I'm just hardwired for it! I adore the touches of red throughout your cottage. The yellow too! My very first home I owned myself had golden yellow walls, and I so loved that tiny space. I called it Cozhaven (cozy and haven combined), and it was my very own peace of heaven.

So glad I found you!

Maggie looks like such a darling dog. My cat Jessie loves pottering around outside, although admittedly, probably likes snoozing and napping under a pretty bush more than sniffing it!

Linda. xoxo

Our lives are just full of His blessings, aren't they? You are among mine, Kim. My spirits are always lifted when I visit you, and I just love seeing Maggie in the garden. Have a wonderful week. Hugs, Terri

Ahhh, that is just such a sweet post. But I kept hoping Maggie would find something with all her hunting:)

Or maybe she has-a family that loves her.

Cindy (aka Grandma C)

So beautiful Kim and so well done. I want to thank you for reminding me of daily blessings and the garden for sure. Maggie is so cute in her bandanna

Almost as precious as my Mattie! My "tweeny" shorthaired black & tan dachshund was rescued from a shelter. It was perfect timing because my adult son with mental health issues had come to live with me. He had lost everything: his career, his family, his vehicle, his possessions including his clothes. He was coming to me after living homeless in the streets of one of our large cities. His depression was severe and sweet little Mattie loved him back to health! She took to him immediately: cuddling, nuzzling, following him, sleeping with him, and loving him unconditionally. She made him laugh again. She gave him purpose. Now, he is living across the country from me with his fiancee. Mattie has stayed with me, and she loves me just as much as she loved him. I am forever grateful for my sweet Mattie!

Kim, I love to visit your blog, and like your little Maggie I find it so easy to thank God for all my blessings when in my garden. I have a little short haired red Dachshund named Hilda. It just amazes me how much she enjoys life.

Sharon Duffey

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Maggies blog, she is so incredibly adorable! I have a Doxie, her name is "Ginger" and she is a long-haired Doxie and she and Maggie are "so" like each other. She likes to "garden" and chase lizards too. :) Also, she has an "emotional" side that we have to be careful with, and she is very smart for such a little gal. Dogs...truly, the Lord created 'want to be' with us, what a wonderful gift. I love their personality's and the way they amazing. I am tickled at how Doxies will 'sit awhile' outside and explore the world, it is good for us to watch, it helps us to remember to do this too! and thank God for His Creation!

  • "I just discovered your blog and am blown away with the comfortable, almost nostalgic feel of it...almost like finding a long-lost friend after many years apart...somehow familiar, but all so exciting and new." ~ Jane

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

  • "What I love best about Daisy Cottage is Kim. I love the way you appreciate every good thing in life and embrace joy in every moment." ~ Rose

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

  • "Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

  • "Your words and thoughts of encouragement help me see myself with value. You are a blessing. Thank you." ~ Tracy

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
