Do you remember when we toured Sean and Lisa's house? And then we met their new baby Kathryn at the Fancy Flea? Well now Sean and Lisa have generously invited us back to their house to tour Kate's darling nursery AND I was able to take a few photos of their sweet sweet and I mean SWEET baby girl too! Like this one ...
Oh she melts my heart. She is just ADORABLE.
And speaking of adorable so is her nursery! Here are some notes from Lisa on how the room came together.
*Sean painted all of the green furniture
*The crib was found on Craig's List for $60
*Lisa's boss gave her the changing table
*The baby dresser was picked up off of the side of the road and they painted it and added new glass knobs
*The side table was picked up at a yard sale for $7
*The rocker was the rocker used in Lisa's nursery when she was a baby
*The baby wicker rocker belonged to Sean's father when he was a child
*The adorable crib quilt, bumpers, sheet, and curtains were made by Lisa & Sean's neighbor and dear friend, Katy
*The vintage chenille crib bed skirt was picked up at a yard sale for $1 and friend Katy added tea stain and rick-rack trim
*The awesome bunting was made by neighbor and dear friend, Jill
pssst...... that's MY sister! ;-)
*Many of the vintage accessories were given as shower gifts by fellow thrifting neighbors
*Vintage planters and lamps were found at flea markets and antique shops
*Lisa glued on rick-rack and pom-pom trim to the lamp shades
*Friend and neighbor Jill made the Dick & Jane plate
*The photo card holder holds photos of Kate's grandparents as babies and congratulation cards from when Lisa's dad was born in 1942
*The rug was a lucky find at Home Depot and was the finishing touch for the room
So let's have some fun and peek together, shall we?
Oh, but first here's another of Kate ...
*click on photos for larger view
Okay, off we go ... and you know me - in random order. ;-)
More sweetness ....
I hope you enjoyed touring baby Kate's nursery! Sean and Lisa have been treasuring every second of parenthood and have had so much fun creating a cozy nest for their little girl. And I had so much fun sharing it with you! For those of you who may have missed their home tour, just click here and enjoy.
Oh and if you'd like, feel free to leave any pearls of wisdom that you may have for Sean & Lisa on the joys of parenting! I'm sure they will love reading what you have to say!!! You may also continue to visit them at their own blog, Bungalow a GoGo! They are VERY special people to me. I love them so much. Thank you Sean and Lisa and, of course, Kate! You are as precious as can be!
Love,
Kim
I'm sure Sean and Lisa have been getting their fair share of unsolicited parental advice. With that said, here's mine. : ) When your children want to talk to you, no matter how old they may be, put down whatever you are doing and give them your full attention.

She is SO darling, just like a doll. And I never want to leave this room with all of its vintage fabrics and decorations. So lovely, takes me straight back to the 1950's when I was little. They've created quite an atmosphere in this room.

Utterly charming and so very memory-laden! All of the items and characters are familiar from my own childhood and those of the children. Just perfect in every way.
The only thing I'm not familiar with is the double-bumper on the bed---I suppose our weather was always warmer than yours. It's all lovely, and Kate's dreams would HAVE to be of sweet fairies and dear little friends in such a softly-welcoming room. (And her beautiful Fairy Godmother, of course).

that little kate is a doll! love her sweet nursery! although, i'm pretty sure that the jenny lind crib was just recalled a few weeks ago. love the vintage dick & jane images, too!

What a precious little girl....she is so adorable! Her parents have done a wonderful job in decorating her nursery...how lucky she is to have such a sweet room to grow up in. Thanks for sharing, Kim. I don't think I can ever see too many pictures of a darling baby.

I couldn't help, but think of my deceased mother-in-law after viewing your baby and items. Last week I finally thru away my husbands baby blankets. Wool and silky trimmedl a couple pair of booties along with it. We still have the cute little sailor sets and little blue outfits. He is 72 years old and over weight doubtful if he will ever need them. A only child the shoes and bottles where thrown out after his mother passed away. By the way the blankets shrunk when washed. The toys are keepers!! Enjoy your little sweatheart she is a doll.

I have 4 grown children and a grandmother of 8. The only advice that helped me when we had our first was she is new at being a baby and you are new at being a parent. Take one day at a time. Some days will be nerve wracking but the good days will out way them. Just make sure that each day is filled with love at your house and when the bad days come love will still be there. She is so precious.

What a beautiful room. So many vintage things to see and love. Everything is perfect - just like the little living doll who lives there. Just enjoy every minute of this little one's life - she will grow so fast. Don't forget to take care of yourself too! You need as much love as Kate.

What a precious little face. I just love her sweet little lips! I certainly enjoyed the visit today as we are expecting our first grandbaby girl in Sept. I will tell my daughter in law to check out your post because there were so many precious ideas in just this one post.
And the word of wisdom that I have for little Kate's parents are this. " Define good." As parents we so often tell our small children to be good. But how can they be good if they don't know what good looks like. We must show and tell and they will learn.
Hugs to all
God Bless!

How very precious!
"Sugar and Spice and everything nice, that's what little girls are made of."
Sean and Lisa, you have a beautiful baby girl. Enjoy every moment for she'll be all grown up much too fast. Capture as much as you possibly can on film, pictures and video. You will be so busy with your everyday chores that the baby days will slip away before you know it. But you can always look back and recapture those precious moments on film. First smiles and sweet little giggles. Treasure each day and may God bless you all.
Beautiful pictures! Kim. Thank you for this adorable tour. ADORABLE.
Takes me back to when my own children were babies. They now have babies of their own. Seems like yesterday I cradled them in my arms as I would rock away the hours. Sweet memories. : )

That is one precious baby girl! She is beautiful! I love the wooden blocks and her name in the curtains. The paint is very pretty.

Well first off, that baby girl is absolutely beautiful. I called my oldest daughter over, she's 9 now but I said, "Look, you had cheeks just like that." I miss kissing those puffy baby cheeks.
The room came out great, I love all the vintage touches. Such a special space for a little one to grow into!
As far as advice goes, my only advice is to trust yourself. You know best what is right for your family, even when everyone else in the world wants to tell you what to do. Enjoy that baby sweetness and kissing those cheeks. It all goes by so fast.

Oh my goodness...I love this nursery. Sweet, just like that baby...My daughter is a Kathryn. Beautiful name.
My pearl of wisdom is when your child comes to you and asks you for something...if it is "yes", say it with exuberance...if it is "no", make sure you mean it and stick to it. You will raise a child who understands the meaning of "no", but also knows the joys that come with all those "yeses"
Enjoy that baby...she is beautiful.
Thank you Kim for sharing those rosy little cheeks with us today.

Such a little beauty, I love her tiny little mouth! LOL I can tell she is going to be so loved. I love everything in the nursery, all the old thing. I just made 2 quilts for a friend that adopted 2 little children with the Dick & Jane material, love it! Very nice pic's! :D
Posted by: Julie Harward | July 13, 2010 at 08:50 PM
Kathryn's little room is just darling!!! And oh my, Dick and Jane bedding, I have never seen the like, I love it! Her pram is adorable, too. I adore all of the little details, it really could pass for a room from the 50's, I think.
Kathryn is a little doll, what a pleasure to see her and her sweet little nursery. Thanks, Kim.
My pearls of wisdom, from a Grama's perspective, ~enjoy her every minute that you have her under your roof, she will grow up much too quickly.
Thanks again, Kim, love and hugs,

her room is wonderful. Reminds me of the things my daughter did in my granddaughter's room when she was a baby. Everything just looks so good together.
Thank them so much for sharing.
My pearls of wisdom come from being a grandma-dishes, beds, and all those other things can wait-babies are grown before you know it. Enjoy the gift.

I remember their house...I was obsessed with it and loved everything about each room!
Congratulations on such a beautiful baby ~ she's absolutely gorgeous. I can't say enough about her nursery...I love how they made it special. It's all very thoughtful and the family items are such a treasure. The bedding is by far my favorite matched with the green furniture. Wonderful job - she will definately love it.
Makes me wish I had a nursery to decorate! :)

And what a nursery! Lovely and beautiful, clever and creative. I love the fact that it didn't cost them a fortune, either.

Oh Kim, what a sweet, sweet little baby girl. And that nursery is amazing, I love that she decorated in all the nostalgic colors and designs. I see a little Dick and Jane there, those banners are adorable. I love the colors that she chose for the crib and dresser too. How lovely, and what a lovely chapter they are enjoying with the joy of a new baby in the house.

Kim,
Your blog was the first I found when I started blogging a year and a half ago and it is still my favorite. While shopping recently I found something that I just couldn't leave behind because it was made for Daisy Cottage. If you don't mind come over to hospitaliteacottage.blogspot.com and email me an address I can mail it to. I will promptly send it over. Keep up the wonderful creativity.

Kate is a beautiful and lucky baby! The nursery details are making me drool; the Humpty Dumpty lamp and pom pom trimmed shade, the etched round mirror, the baby dresser w/ glass knobs, the sweet Jenny Lind crib and BEDDING-love that fabric, the darling wire card holder thingy (I have one as well and the name escapes me), the tiny clock, the sweet baby things, the antique pram, the baby banner, oh it is all there! What a darling space! Congrats to the new family!

Thank you for so many encouraging comments and wonderful advice! It was so much fun to put together Kate's nursery (thank goodness you get nine months-and a few after the baby's born-to get it just right!) And we are so lucky that Kim was able and willing to capture these precious memories for us and for Kate in years to come. Kim, my dear friend-the photos are amazing! I love, love, love the ones of my beautiful girl-all of them!!! And I think we know she loved being your model! Also, I forgot to add in my notes that while the crib we bought was recalled, we sent away to the manufacturer and received their "fix-it" pieces that make it safe for the babe-no more drop-down side! We also used no-VOC paints on the walls and furniture to keep it healthy for her little lungs. Thanks again to all of you for the great advice-keep it coming!

Kate is a beautiful little bundle.

What a wonderful decorated nursery for baby Kate!
Well, as a mother of a twelf year old son and a nine year old daughter I can tell you it's so important to give your child a warm nest. And by the way you decorated the nursery I can see that Sean and Lisa are loving and warm people. And their sweet baby Kate is adorable or as we say it in Dutch: ze is een schatje!
To Sean and Lisa I want to say: enjoy being a parent and give her all the love you have. Let her know that she is very precious! love Nina

Oh, how adorable is she?! I love that little smile of hers too! Brought a smile to my face just seeing it! Congratulations on the birth of your daughter Sean and Lisa. She will bring you so many years of joy and laughter. My advice to you is always trust your instinct. There are times when I trusted the advice of others, even when I didn't feel it was best for my child. Looking back, I now know that I should have gone with my "gut feeling". I can honestly say that Kate's nursery is the most precious I have ever seen. I have never seen a nursery decorated with such vintage flair and I love it! Great pics as usual Kim. You are one talented chic! :)

Posted by: janet | July 14, 2010 at 10:17 AM
What a darling little girl! And the nursery is a dream room, for sure. The only advice I have is to love, love, love her - and spend a lot of time playing, reading and having fun together. The dishes can wait, the dusting and cleaning will happen but time goes so fast and before you know it she will be grown. Enjoy every minute together!

Oh, Kate is adorable and I love the darling outfits - the little lace, tiny tucks, and precious pastels with sherbet accents! The baby feet and small sandals will just melt your heart!
Kate's own dear room is utterly charming in every sweet and delicious way! What wonderful creations by Lisa and Sean in more ways than one!
As for tried and true hints - if you start now with a bedtime routine, once Kate is older and even in a big girl bed, she'll settle down to sleep more easily. Our routine was sitting in our rocking chair together, cuddle while I read one book aloud, and I'd then sing a good-night song and into bed the baby would go. The song I chose was Once Upon a Time from Peter Pan. I don't have a great voice but the boys didn't care!
Thanks for inviting us in!! Hugs!

Your back Kim and oh how I missed you!
Lisa and Sean,
Your Kathryn is beautiful! She has captured your hearts and mine as well. You seem like joyful relaxed parents and so your days will be full and even overflow with delight. Parenting is fun. The best advise I can think of is to live each day intentionally. Intentional living leaves very little roon for regrets.
God has blessed you with Kathryn and God has blessed Kathryn with loving parents.

Kate is an absolutely beautiful, adorable baby! The nursery is so special ~ love the vintage pics and Dick & Jane fabric.
Give your child/ren "time". It is the most precious commodity. Everything else can wait. They will remember the games, the books read, sitting and talking ~ whatever the time of day or night ~ being in the kitchen, the garage or back yard with one or both of you. They will NOT remember how clean the house or car was, how beautiful the furniture was if you couldn't sit on it nor the complexities of your job, housework, etc. Memories can be made doing the smallest thing with them...and yes, always listening.
Thanks so very much for the tour and allowing us to see this adorable little girl.

This precious baby is a gift from God. I always tell new mothers that I turned my children over to God for Him to take care of. I have 4 sons and I knew I could never be everywhere guarding them from all harm....so I asked God to take care of them for me. It took a lot of the worry away and allowed me to really enjoy my kids growing up! I love the beautiful room with all of the special treasures. She will have a life filled with love! ♥

What an awesome nursery - thanks for sharing the great photos, Kim! That's wonderful to see such happy parents and baby. :)
My advice - enjoy your baby (and as she grows)right where she's at at the time. Let it soak in. Kids grow fast! Enjoy including her in your everyday activities, even just watching.
Thanks again Kim for showing us this very cool nursery! I especially liked the chalkboard, the chenille crib skirt, and the fabric banner with her name on it. But it was ALL neat!

Awesome pictures, they are so cute when they are little. :)
Appreciate every moment they are in, each thing they learn is a gift, celebrate it and them, often! Put up streamers, even though it mars the walls, have lots of balloons for every birthday.
Love them, even when they remind you of you, like a mirror. :)
And, try not to be too freaked out when they dye their hair green, get tatooes and numerous piercings! lol. Love them for who they are and your life will always be enriched greatly.

Adorableness all the way through. What a beautiful room for their too cute for words daughter! I will leave this post frustrated that I cannot gently pinch those adorable cheeks and legs ;-)
For Sean and Lisa: When raising children (and teenagers), never ever lose your sense of humor. In light of eternity, some things just aren't as awful or as big as they seem at the time. Enjoy every moment.
