Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

She was selling the SCHWANNNNN??? Oh, My. Why am I so far away?

Lovely reportage of a lovely day---splashes of color, lots of goodies, sunshine and good friends and nice doggies and a wonderful spot to gather---what a DAY!

PS. You DID purchase a pear?

Hi Kim!
I loved all of your pictures but my favorite for the day were the dishes in Erica's booth!

Florence Muma

What a lovely day you all had. It would be hard for me to pick one photo out, they all told the story. Thanks for sharing. Florence

Blueberry Mike looks too good to be true! Did they hire him for the day to just stand there and look good?? LOL!! Glad you had so much fun and the weather looked like it was amazing! Your daughter is so beautiful. I love her top. (Anthropology??) I'm not surprised her hot pink desk sold right away! I had my eye on that as soon as I saw it! Love the bags your sister makes. Very talented family you bunch are! I think my fav is the pic of your daughter with the desk! Thanks for sharing your fab day, would have loved to been there!

Oh wow what great photos. You captured "the flea" perfectly. It was great meeting you in person and I'm sure we will cross paths again. The Flea was awesome I got so many ideas for my own Dixieland bungalow and I'll be seeing everyone with all my collected "treasures" in Nov.

Angela Kloss

As much as I loved the rain we had here in Indiana, it was wonderful to see the sun shining down on the Fancy Flea. I only hope that the pictures will dance through my dreams tonight. I have so many favorite photos, although the one that stands out in my mind is the picture of the white and glass tablescape, the dishes are slightly out of focus, but in the foreground is the lovely yellow blanket. I can just imagine having that out on a back porch to enjoy lovely meals in the summertime. My other favorable mentions would definitely be the picture of the vintage dishes containing the gorgeous blue fire king? dish, I love blue and it had so many blue dishes that I was drooling over, lol. Also the closeup of the yellow dresser was superb, normally I don't surround myself with yellow, but the shade is just gorgeous and cheerful, I can't resist.

Lastly the picture containing the Home and Garden Book, it's a vintage book I remember from my childhood. My mom had that book as well as some of the other popular home and garden books of that era. Unfortunately she passed away almost four years ago and between her and my dad moving alot most of those things have simply disappeared with time. And thank you again Kim for adding me to your Blog Candy!

My favorite picture is the one with Shannon and her pink desk.
I really like the way she dresses!

oh hands down Mr. Blueberry...sigh..

Nancy Hutson Maisenbach

What a wonderful day for the F F! I like the last picture best. The one where you are pointing out where Black and Brew is. I could see you there. You and your town are lovely! I also love the blue herb bench. My husband says he can make one for me.:) All the pictures are great Kim.
Thank you!
Nancy M.

Mary Lou

Looks like a great time and some good stuff!
My favorite photo is Kate of course. After that, the one with the blue tent and all the flowers in front with the $35 sign on it...

Oh Kim!!! So sad I missed it! Planed on going with my Mom, but spent the day in bed with a fever and some weird random infection YUCK! Hope to make it next year. LOVE your goodies in the giveaway. Fave pic - embarrassed to say it's Blueberry Mike! He could have sold me just about anything! Love the pics showing Munn Park too.

Beautiful pictures as always Kim.

I should have been there I saw a couple things that would fit with my collections-the "luncheon plates and cups" and the Pyrex "refrigerator dishes" (with the little lids.

Wow so many beautiful things there.

What did you bring home for you?

I forgot to tell you-my favorite picture Baby Kate-I'm always partial to the babies. She's adorable and just looked at your tour of their home, beautiful.

pogonip @ meadowsweet cottage

I felt I was strolling along beside you as I browsed through your wonderful photos. I just might be inspired to get creative after seeing all the goodies at the Fancy Flea.

Loved the linens and rolling pins and red bistro set but it was the pink French Provincial set that captured my heart! Good thing I was a continent away or my pocketbook would have been in big trouble :)

Kimberly Padilla

What a delightful day it looks like you had! I loved all the photos! Such beautiful things! I wish I could have been there, but you made it seem as if I was. Thank you.

Kimberly ♥

Oh I wish I could have been there. All the painted furniture, flowers, fabrics, the dishes, linens, the sunshine, the dogs.. oh my... All the photos are gorgeous but I'm rather partial to the cute little doxie and the photo with the "for president" sign. Thank you for sharing.

Wonderful pictures, love them all. I wish I could have been there! Just heaven, all these vintage items and furniture. I almost can't find any antique or vintage furniture where I live and if I do, it's perhaps ten times more expensive than in the USA because it's so rare. Loved the virtual tour at your flea market visit!

I just fell in love with the pretty pink furniture - that pic is my favorite!

What a wonderful sale - so much eye-candy - it was really hard to choose just one favorite!

I love ALL your photos! What a great market. I wish we had something like that around here.....

Alison Gibbs

What a fabulous flea market. My favourite would be sweet abay Kate with her little yellow bow

Sandi ~ A Cottage Muse

So jealous of your wonderful day! Such great photos full of super treasures and lots of fun! Is Blueberry Mike in the giveaway too?! Love the rose print!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Thank you for sharing.....we have nothing even close to this type of event in our little town. It's hard to choose, but I love the painted furniture in many of the photos...the pink furniture especially. The little red doxie picture is another fav...looks like my Morgan. Did you find great things for Daisy Cottage? Judy

Ruth Graham

What a Blueberry Mike day for... Oh My Gosh I mean beautiful day to enjoy your Flea Market!

I can just see that red wrought iron table and chairs in Daisy Cottage! So Sweet!!

Thanks for sharing Kim.

Love and Hugs.... Ruth ;-)

Beautiful pictures. Wish I could have been there! The giveaway is fabulous. Count me in!
We had fun in Aberfoyle, Ontario and found many pretty treasures!
I'll have to swoon over the pictures again and again.

I felt like I was right there with you. Thank you so much for sharing your day with those of us who live too far away to attend in person.

I enjoyed all of your pictures, but the one with the stack of aluminum "glasses" was my favorite because my grandfather had the same set and it made for the coldest sip of water imaginable. My mother also had the same cake plate and cover as is in that picture. Thank you for the memories.

judy hale

Kim first of all thanks soooo much for sharing with us.My favorite pic is hard to choose because I loved them all but the painted furniture really caught my eye.And no doubt Blueberry Mike ooohh what was the asking price for him anyway lol.Looks like you had a terrific time and great weather.

Hi Kim,

Oh my goodness -what a fun day everyone had at the Fancy Flea. I would love to hop over from California to join in on the fun but since I can't I enjoyed every one of your photos. The herbs and flowers really made the market special since I love gardening and just planted a Spring herb garden. My favorite photo would have to be the first with the fabulous blue tea pot and all of the blue and white. Love - love it.
Sending you and Maggie blessings, hugs, tail wags and best wishes,
Erin and Bentley

Oh my! Such eye candy!
My favorite: with people- that darling baby
Of the flea- I like the picture of the dresser with the silver on top
and the picture of the 2 peoples fannies as they are looking for something in that field of garden was funny!
I would love to win this lovely giveaway! karen....

Thank you for that wonderful visit to the fancy flea! I had a good time. And no, I could not possible pick one favorite photo. I like them all!

Wow! It looks like you had a wonderful time! There must have been so much to look at! I could have spent all day there just walking around. The pictures are wonderful! As usual, you did a great job!

The close up photos of the jewellery are so yummy to gaze at, but I think the flowers for sale are the prettiest photos. Oh for my garden to look like that.
As for Blueberry Mike - well, I have a couple of blueberry bushes that might need tending....if he's ever this side of the pond! xx

Sally Hamilton

That looks like it was truly a delightful day. My sister and I love to go antiquing and something I'm always on the lookout for are quilt blocks or quilt tops that need to be finished. I know that quilter would be tickled pink to see her project finished out.

I loved, loved, loved all the painted furniture! But when I saw the pic of the two tables with the park in the background I wanted to sit down with a sandwich and an icy lemonade!
I used to live in Lakeland and downtown was nothing like it is today! I couldn't wait to leave, what was I thinking? Oh, maybe it was because I kept running into my ex and his girlfriend :)

This is one reason I love your blog. The pictures are so beautiful that I can't pick a favorite. Even though the storms were raging here in Arkansas, I can still enjoy the beauty of your site that God has given. For those of us who live far away, through your blog, we can have our spirits lifted in your work. Kim, you are an inspiration to so many and we thank you for sending out the love through your pictures. God bless you!!! Alice

Sharon Avinger

Oh, Kim! What a gorgeous day, what gorgeous shopping! I love the photo of the gal who scored the beautiful blue mirror because I want that mirror myself! Ha. Thanks for entering my name in your giveaway.

Lisa Adams

Wow, love all of the treasures. Mr. Blueberry was quite charming. I love herbs as well so I would so be at his section of the sale:)

I would love to arrange a flea like this in my neighbourhood. Sounds like a fun way to spend a day in the sun. Thanks for sharing it with us.

:) Lisa

I am sitting here drooling over each picture! I sure regret missing this event - I could have bought so many things. I was just overwhelmed looking at all the beautiful things at each booth. I have almost the same amorie that you showed with you/Shannon in the mirrors. It was the first "antique" piece I bought years ago - I turned mine into a sewing cabinet. I love the mustard chest of drawer and the aqua dresser was TDF. The "blueberry guy" wasn't bad either. I could have took him home in a heart beat. LOL Thanks for letting us tag along as you visited all the booths.

Oh my goodness, I wouldn't have known what to buy first!
It's hard to pick a favorite photo because I loved so many of them, but the close up of the red iron chair with the zebra rug blurred in the background made my heart skip a beat!

Andrea at Opulent Cottage

Dear Kim, Fancy Flea looks like so much fun! But I have to say that my favorite photo is the one of your darling daughter. What a beautiful girl! Your town seems to be chock-full of such sweet, lovely folks, I sure do wish that I lived closer!!
xo, Andrea

ok, call me shallow, but the Blueberry guy was my favorite photo - what a cutie!!!

Great photos.

Thank you for "taking" us with you! Your photos are beautiful! I love old Pyrex and glassware, so that table caught my eye! Also love the rose painting...thrilled to see that in the giveaway! :)

Deb from Rabbit Hill

Had fun pretending I was shopping there! What great finds! Favorite Pic? Loved the doggies but the winner is....Mr. Blueberry Mike!

Kim - Gotta add to my previous comment! Shannon and Blueberry Mike would sure make a "great looking couple"! Are they both single? : )))) Loved her outfit-she is a doll and Blueberry Mike -well he is so 'fine'!!

Fancy Flea looks like a spot I would love to shop :-)
Thanks for sharing your day! Hard to pick a "favourite" photo ... but I loved the chippy vintage doorknob so the 4th photo from the bottom with the bird plaques, yellow linen napkins, vintage paint by numbers and chippy doorknob is my choice for fave ♥

Since it's so hard to pick from all the amazing items in the pics (although, the woman escaping with the turquoise mrror is great), I vote for the picture of Sean and Lisa with Katie. My "baby" is 24 now and I was thinking about how fun the journey of raising a little person is. Happy Mother's Day, Lisa! Oooh...and I do like those red ice cream type chairs...

This surely makes me want to go "fleaing"! I loved the pictures you took. As I do some very amateurish painting myself, I really enjoyed Mary's art. My favorite thing to paint is fruit. She did beautiful work. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.

Susan Freeman

Thanks for all the great photos of the Fancy Flea!! It is so fun the "arm chair shop". I enjoyed seeing all of the brightly painted furniture. Shannon's desk was darling and I can see why it sold so quickly. I liked the dresser that was painted a certain shade of turquoise you know the one with the floral prints in the oval frames peaking out. The Blueberry guy was cute too.

Susan and Bentley

Kim, your pictures are fantastic! Made me feel like I was
there......hoping to make it in November. I love your blog!

Your photos are fantastically cheery! My favorite was the little Dachshund. You have quite an eye for color and depth of field. Fabulous photos!

What a perfec way to spend a day!

I found your site by accident while internet browsing for decorating blogs so now I have added you to my RSS feeds. By looking at your photos it was like I was at the flea market with you. I look forward to your next posting.

magpie chic

Couldn't sleep, so got up in the middle of the night here (New Zealand) and read your latest post, which I have been eagerly anticipating. WOW, how fantastic! I am sooo glad you love to take pictures! I'm going to look at them all again. Guess you were pretty taken with that Mr Blueberry:P

Jennifer Hayslip

Blueberry Mike is my vote! hee! hee! Gorgeous post Kim! I've been so busy and out of the loop a bit, and It has made me realized how much I miss your blog!!! It feels like HOME!!! XOXO,Jenn

Barbara Anne

What wonderful photos of a glorious day and event! I plan to follow the links and to savor the pictures in detail in a few minutes.

Thanks for introducing us to sweet little Kate! I'd wondered about Sean and Lisa's baby since you mentioned they were expecting when we got to tour their delightful home.

As wonderful as your give-away items are, please don't put my name in the hat this time. I have more than enough and am trying to simplify at least a bit and have more art than I have wall space.

Your blog is just so much fun! Thanks and hugs!

I love all the pictures. Can't wait to start going to sales! Great give away.

Kathy Thomas

Blueberry Mike wins hands down! Such a friendly face! Thanks for taking me to the flea market. It looks like it was a great day. I am inspired to go paint some furniture after looking at all the gorgeous pics. I saw a chair at the Salvation Army that would look great painted a yummy orange sherbert!

Thank you for the great pics, felt like I was right there with you & your lovely daughter. My fav was that pale pink dresser and nightstand, loved! and the flower pics, and the doggie pics. Thank you for the great give away too your just so sweet. Have a great day!!

Angela Harvey

Oh, I would've loved to be there! The painted furniture gave me a boost of inspiration to paint a couple of pieces I already own. Thank you! I thought the paint by number was going to be a beautiful addition to your home, but it's a GIVEAWAY-yay!! I would love to win it!!

the domestic fringe

Picking a photo is tough! I love the zebra print with the red metal chair.

This looks like an amazing flea market. I've never been to such a great one.

I'm KICKING myself for not driving over there for such a wonderful event!! What was I thinking (or not thinking)!! I have to say that my favorite picture is...Blueberry Mike! What a cutie!

Kathy from Clearwater

You got to be kidding...that cutie...Blueberry Mike...a take home for sure!! LOL

I liked them all but I loved the one of the wardrobe with mirror where we can see you and Shannon a bit, that's neat -heck they all are, but fav one is Mike. Yum. Talk about eye candy, haha.

I liked the shaded area lane one, too - I love shady areas.

Blueberry Mike.

duh. ;)

Lynn Paterson

Hi Kim, love the sidewalk scene that shows all the booths lined up....and of course, Blueberry Mike was not too bad either! Really liked the close up of the plates too. The photos were spectacular.....for a moment I thought I was there!

Wish the Fancy Flea was in Texas :)
Loved the doxie pic. They are my favorite dog.

How sweet of you to share your pictures! It is a shame I could not have been there but too far a drive from here at the edge of Texas.
What a wonderful day it must have been to see all the goodies and share the company of your beautiful daughter.
Thank you Kim. I enjoyed it.

Dear Kim,
My husband and I so enjoyed meeting you on Saturday.Of course, my favorite picture is the one of Bentley. He is enjoying his 15 minutes of fame. Pretty good for a pound pup that beat the odds. Love reading your blog. The Fancy Flea was just delightful. Thanks for telling us about it on your blog. Small town FL at its best.

Thanks for taking us along. The only bad thing is that I saw so many things that I would love to have like all that painted furniture!!! But I'd have to say the sweetest photo was that of cute little Kate!...reminds me of my little Lily! :)

Karen Flanagan

Hi, Kim. Everything looked lovely, and I appreciate all the photos. I even saw a few pieces I would love to come home with! Blueberry Mike wasn't too shabby either...

Thanks for taking me there via your excellent photos! That town setting is certainly beautiful, too! Too bad I couldn't go -- I saw quite a few goodies that might have found their way to Birmingham!

Blueberry Mike looks delicious ;)

Lets see...where should I start. I loved the hot pink desk and the top that Shannon was wearing. The dogs were cute and of course the baby too.
I wish Blueberry Mike lived at my house, oh my he is a hunk!:)
I would have needed a u-haul trailer if I had gone! I saw so many things I would have liked to have!
Thanks for sharing your pics!
Have a great day!

Kay in Kansas

sweet cottage dreams

Oh mY! What a fUn dAy!
I love all of the photos!
Each one is so special...but if I'd have to pic my favorites (I know, I cannot pick one)
they'd be Shannon, Blueberry Mike, silver, red lampshade and all the painted furniture!

Have a super week!
What a lovely giveaway, too!

Myrtle Yopp

Thanks for the photos---wish we had a "Fancy Flea" here in Virginia! Favorite photo--besides the stools (one with needlepoint) I'd say Blueberry Mike wasn't hard on the eyes :)....Thanks again for your wonderful blog!

I have to say Shannon and her hot pink dresser. I would've brought that one for my Emily!

oh Kim!! thanks for taking us with you. i love the picture of the red iron chair with the big poppy on the seat!! there were so many beautiful things there. how did you not come home with one of each?

Cindy Johnson

I loved the art work!! The pears were fabulous! Florida!! What a beautiful area!

How kind to have another giveaway :) A visit to your blog always make me smile ~ thanks :)
Have a happy day, crystal

So much fun! I feel like I just strolled the Fancy Flea right along with you. Thanks so much! I've been a little bit under the weather the past few day's and this is just what I needed. My spirits have been lifted. My favorite picture? They're all beautiful! But I loved the one of sweet baby Kate, so adorable. A close runner up would have to be Blueberry Mike, what a handsome devil. ; )

Looks like a fun day - wish they did stuff like that in IDAHO! They probably do, I just don't know when/where it is :) I liked the pictures of Blueberry Mike....he, he! Just kidding - I liked them all! Beautiful colors and great stuff.

What a gorgeous day!! It definitely brightened up my rainy morning here in Upstate New York... Like most of the ladies, I think Blueberry Mike was a highlight of the photos, but the yellow dresser from Lori's booth was beautiful!! I love the bright furniture - so cheery! I am so happy I found your blog. I love sharing my morning coffee with you and this fantastic music! Thanks for the inspiration :o)

Seriously! Pick ONE... Well... the one I kept going back to was the one of Blueberry Mike and the teal herb planter... really it was the teal herb planter that caught my eye... really.

More Chic Than Shabby

I liked the link to check out Lisa and Sean's home. Beautiful home and beautiful baby.

Hi, Kim,
what fun! The fancy flea. I liked the painted furniture. I am wanting to paint a dresser. Have never painted furniture. You give me courage.

Hoping I might be so lucky to win the giveaway. You are soo generous! Yes, you are!

More Chic Than Shabby

Just realized my domain name is not working quite yet. I love the pictures of the painted furniture pieces.

What fun! I enjoyed looking at all the pictures of the Fancy Flea, however, my most favorite.... and the one that has inspired me, is the one of the herb bench with the terra cotta pots inserted into the bench!! so adorable, I am going to have to have one myself!! beautiful town you live in as well, I felt that I have strolled down the sidewalk with you.....

with love from Kentucky,

Oh my it looked like so much fun! My favorite picture would have to be Erica's booth and those iron tables!!! I have been looking for one for such a long time and they are so hard to find here in AZ. Now I know where I should look! LOL

Cheryl Fields

"Beauty in things exists merely in the mind which contemplates them." (David Hume's Essays, Moral and Political,1742).
I loved the little canvas paintings by children. What an awesome way to teaching our youth to appreciate art. I believe it will help our world continue to flourish.
Beauty is said to be in the eye of the beholder...I'm sure that Mary's mom has some little canvas paintings that she still cherishes.
Love, Cheryl

Oh Kim, this flea market is so wonderful and colorful!

I love the photo where the potted herbs are on a blue-aqua stand. It inspired me to make a sign for my own herb garden. And the next photo, with Blueberry Mike by the herb stand. What a cute guy.

Ann in Texas

Lisa Potter

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE any of the pictures of painted furniture.

And of course, Blueberry Mike was definately easy on the eyes!!!!

Mary Whalen Gans

I wish we had a flea market like that here on Cape Cod... how lucky you are.... As for my favorite photo -- of course, it's Blueberry Mike -- what a cutie! I have my own man who loves to garden, but we have 3 daughters (15, 13 and 9), and hope that someday they will find their very own Blueberry Mike!

Deborah Downing

All the photos are wonderful, and I see many things I would have wanted to bring home. But out of them all, Blueberry Mike would be my first choice!
Shannon looks beautiful and I'll bet she's as sweet and kind as her Mama.
Love you

I was in Lakeland once years ago and clearly don't remember how darling your town is. Time for another visit. And all I can say is, HELLO BLUEBERRY MIKE! Even though he is young enough to be my son-in-law....LOL! Loved your pictures, Kim.

hi - my favorite pic - well i ohhed and ahhed over many of them - i just bought a little chair to paint - so i enjoyed looking at the painted furniture - BUT i think my favorite pic was of BLUEBERRY MIKE!! :^) Thanks for all of the pics and thank you for a chance to win some lovely things..

Rhonda Klansky

Loved everything that I saw. How often does this sale take place? Separate subject--Can you recommend other shopping, etc choices in your area?

The tenth photo from the top was my fave with all the vintage dishes..some very sweet pieces I would love to add to my collection. All of your photos made me wish I was always.

Tina Vanecek

I am a big fan of bird houses. So I would have to say the bird house pictures were my favorite. Although all your pictures are always beautiful and what a gorgeous day you had. Thanks for sharing it with us!! Tina

Debbie from Texas

Sounds like you had alot of fun! I was in the Hill Country looking at beautiful wildflowers but I don't know - Blueberry~~~~~~I could look at antiques and vintage treasures for hours!
I know you have so much fun with your camera. It shows and you are very talented, Kim.

Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
