Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Hello gorgeous!

You look beautiful, that dress looks great on you, love those boots.

Love you, my dear, wonderful blog friend. God bless you.

You look georgous - wish I had a $5 dress like that. And the boots - well what else can be said except "sigh" ...
Happy weekend xx

Ah boots ... boots and sandals ... my everlasting love affair. I can never have too many pairs :)

Trish Rowley

Hi Kim, Wow those boots are special and you look Beautiful it that dress.!! Before I had my back op I did line dancing for many years on a regular basis and loved to put on my boots, I know what you mean they did make me feel good. Have a great weekend making memories Trish xox ;)

Leslie @Farm Fresh Fun

Sweet Kim,
You look maahhhvelus!!! I love seeing your pic right after receiving that lovely and kind note from you. As we tell our daughter, "you're beautiful, inside AND out!"
Lady, you got me down to a "T." My house wears red n yellow but my bod wears pink n cream WITH boots - from the thrift store whenever possible. Flip flops are fun, but after an embarassing incident w/a young horse, not recommended on a farm. ;-) Eek, I just caught a glimpse of a yellow w/pink ruffled apron(?) too. Are you sure we're not sisters separated at birth? I hope you have a fun weekend w/much celebrating!
PS - does Daisy Cottage have a "button" for my blog? <3

Perhaps I will go to the thrift store today and see if I can get some boots they look great. Have a great weekend. Englishteacup(Lynne)

What a gorgeous boots and you're right: they are made for walking and you can wear them always!
I love mine too, but yours are beautiful!

Daisy Cottage is in my heart xxx Nina.

A Cupcake For Moose

Great boots! I've been wanting some myself. I think it would bring out my "inner Ree." Have a great Friday Kim! Your blog is such a treat to visit!

You look like a million bucks! Have a great weekend!!

Privet and Holly

Hi Kim! You look DARLING in your boots! I had to smile, because my family thinks my boot-loving is kind of funny. In the winter, it's my black equestrians that I wear all over as well as my UGGS, for practicality in a COLD climate! You are right, when you pull the boots on, it's almost putting on armor that says, Hey, I can take care of myself...I've got my boots on : ) Have a lovely weekend! xx P&H

A great look for only $13 :-) Judy

Love the boots! I don't own a pair of boots, but that doesn't meant that I can't see their charm!! And you are beautiful!! :) The dress is pretty...adore the color coral!!
Have a fabulous weekend!!! I might go lookin' for a pair of boots myself. :)

Are those cute or WHAT? My favorite is the tiny flags on each one...!!!! I betcha they were made in the USA? My daughter wore boots every day of her adult life until she was so far along in her pregnancy that her little ankles and feet swelled really bad...she can't wait to get back into them! Your outfit is toooooo cute and so are you, Kim~

Kathleen Grace

Kim, you are too cute! Your boots look adorable with that dress:>)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your boots!! I am wanting a pair in that color too! Living in Texas all of my life, I have grown up wearing boots. They just feel all is 'right' in the world when I'm wearing them. And you are so right - flip flops are nice, but boots are made for walking.

I just started reading your blog a few weeks ago and it is my favorite so far! Thanks for your consistent updates and great photos!

Adorable look, Kim! I'm not sure I could pull it off, but it looks great on you.

You have such a warm and sweet soul that comes through in your pictures and writing. I find myself looking at things, like old lamp posts, differently since I became a reader.

Have a great weekend! Lori

Debbie L.

Kim you are my inspiration. This morning when I saw you in those boots and your big smile I thought to myself "She is my hero". You are smart, fun, caring, and a doll in those boots! Walk on and strut your stuff:)

I had to take my dear Mom to the ER last night and I have had so much stress in my life lately. Daisy Cottage always lifts me up each day. Thank you dear friend for being You! Enjoy the birthday party this weekend.

Love Ya xoxoxo

When I was in the 6th grade, I begged and begged my dad to buy me a pair of cowboy boots. He did, but after awhile he noticed that I wasn't wearing them. They had cost a lot more than my regular shoes and he was thinking he'd wasted the money. So, to please my dad I started wearing them everyday to school, no matter what else I was wearing. And it was usually a dress. I think I wore them out but sadly, it was the first and only cowboy boots I've ever owned.

Maybe it's time for another pair.

Those are some beautiful boots you bought and they look great with your dress. Thanks for the memories your post brought back to me.

Barbara Anne

Nancy Sinatra would be so proud of you!!!!!!!!

Happy weekend, happy birthday to whoever it is, and happy partying!!!!

Your post makes me want to go out and buy a pair of boots:)
The last pair of boots I had were those white "go-go" boots with a zipper on the side or back (I think I must have had 2 pair). I remember wearing them with a hip-hugger skirt with a wide belt and a "po-boy" shirt. That had to be my fave outfit.

Happy birthday to your special person.

your outfit is cute. The boots are a great find. Don't you love such a nice bargain.

Love your $8 boots and your $5 dress. I just got a gorgeous black silk dress for $5 at Goodwill. Love a good bargain!! Now I just need to find a great pair of boots like yours. I have not been so lucky there. Have a wonderful weekend and have fun celebrating the birthday! Love & blessings from NC!

Dear Kim,
I belong to the Redhat and I always wear my red boots with fringe with my long purple dress. I wore my red boots to Grandparents Day one year and I was the only Granny in school with cowboy boots. LOL

My frist pair of boots were bought for only $$15.00 in Denver, Colorado in 1960 - that was big bucks at that time. LOL

Love your boots, dress and jewelry - you look smashing.

Jenny in Alabama

YOU GO GIRL! Have fun at the party...Ugh.... You didn't tell us who's birthday it is.

Carrie@ My Kinda Boring Life

I love your boots.

I am a cowboy boot wearing girl too--- I wear them with everything!!

Love your dress!!

I LOVE your boots! And your $5.00 dress! You made me remember when I was a little girl - I had a cowgirl outfit and boots. I wore my boots all the time, but have never had any since. Maybe I need to fine me a pair of boots!!!
:-) Enjoy your weekend.

I love your boots! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

karen cox

Kim, you look lovely in your boots. I have never owned cowboy boots, but my little ones did. There is something so special about cowboy boots.

You look absolutely ADORABLE!!! And those boots were a STEAL! I always find them but they are too small! Hopefully I will have good luck soon! And your right, there is nothing like boots! Here in upstate NY the weather is so crazy that I could be wearing my boots one day and flip flops the next!! They are both what I always wear, OCCASIONALLY shoes, LOL :)
Have a great weekend! :)

Look at you all pretty with your dress and fancy boots! I too love boots! (and I love my Uggs!!) Is thrift shopping not just the best?? And when you find something as special as you boots it's such a great feeling! Have a fun weekend wherever those boots take you! Sherri : )

Renee, we wore penny loafers with our hiphugger skirts and po-boy shirts. I never had the nerve to wear the go go boots. Are you by any chance from south Mississippi?
Kim, thanks for the visit this morning. Feel like I've been home. I love that feeling. Have a wonderful weekend. I look forward to Monday's blog. What a sweet time each day.

Maura @ Lilac Lane Cottage

Hello Kim, I LOVE your boots and your dress and you look wonderful in them. I LOVE my boots too...I'm afraid they're a bit muddy at the moment from all the rain we've been having. They're prediciting sunny skies for today and the weekend so I'll put them on and head out for the Highway 50 Garage Sale! Can't wait.....have a wonderful weekend...Maura:)

Esther Sunday

Precious critter, that's what you are!!! XXXXXX

Hi Kim

Way to go! You look charming. Looks like you started a trend. Lots of us will be heading out this weekend to look for a special pair of boots.

Have a wonderful time at the birthday gathering but don't do like the song said and walk all over anyone :0)

Have a great weekend

Fay Marie

What an adorable outfit ! Love the pearly bracelet. It all fits together so cutely. (is cutely a real word?) Congrats on all the sweet finds. You need a snappy 50's purse to go with the outfit. You probably do! Happy Birthday to whoever it is and have a blessed weekend!

Too Cute! Please post a picture of all your boots. Have a great week-end.

Love boots! As a Texan, who would not? :-) You found a great deal and you look beautiful!

You look great in your boots! I want a pair or two now!
I used to have a pair of beautiful blue (cowboy) boots...I started wearing sandals and left the boots behind.
I could have used some more boots this past winter-even in FLORIDA we needed them, right?
Have a great week end!

Kelly McMaster

You look SOOO darling!!

Rita May

Cute boots. What's the secret for no blisters? Sox? I hope I have your luck finding a pair while thrifting.

Oh Kim, You look very pretty. Have a wonderful weekend!

You are one beautiful lady Kim! How pretty you look with your $5 dress and $8 boots! You are as beautiful inside as out. I was thrilled you commented on my Flickr photo so thanks for making my day sweetie. As busy as you must be you find the time to leave nice comments too. Have a lovely weekend. Tomorrow is our big day - the start of our Alaska RV journey! I can't think of anything else to take with us. I will be blogging about our adventure (I'm praying the campgrounds have decent internet service!!!!). Oh, I love your bracelet too!

Kim, you are definitely my soul sister!! I have a pair of red cowgirl boots that make me feel like a million bucks!! They are VERY comfortable! You kick high with your boots on, girl!!

Now are beautiful to look at as your home...and that makes me happy!!!

Love your style my friend?!!..More pics when you dress to go out...such fun!!!!

I love your style. You look so hip and fun. Beautiful too! I have to do some boot shopping so I can be like you, Kim.

I don't mind having an excuse to thrift more!

LOL Deidra, I lived in Arkansas then. I was a def. child of the 60s. Well I was born in the 50s but grew up in the 60s. (I did have penny loafers, too).

Hi You!
Love the post, dress, boots, the whole thang!!! You look adorable, so pretty!!!
Have a blessed weekend Kim!

You are SUCH a cutie!!! Any party would be better just because you're there...enjoy! :)

I absolutely love the color of that dress!

Great boots, and one of my all time favorite songs. Enjoy the birthday celebration!

You look beautiful ! I love your spunky style.

You are sooooo beautiful Kim. Inside AND outside. I really mean it. I love that dress and those boots too :)

Oh and I LOVE you!

Debbie from Texas

Wow, you look beautiful!! How old did you say you were?? I can't believe you are a day over 35! Seriously!! I live in Texas and don't own a pair of cowboy boots. Isn't that pitiful! I have been looking for awhile for a sale or a good thrift store find. Thanks for the inspiration.

Cindy S

Hey you, you are SO beautiful!!! And have such great taste, and that is an adorable dress that you have on, I want one like it. I also love your walking boots. I only have clunky snow boots, but I have had my eyes peeled for some dressy boots, I will find some one day in a sweet little Thrift Shop, just waiting for me, I know it!!!
What a fun post.
Hugs, Cindy S

Wow! Perfect color boots for our Florida dresses! Hmmmm...I need to be on the lookout for some.

You are adorable... love the dress with the cowboy boots! Ree was in the Lone Star State last Fall.... i was there my boots! IT WAS A BLAST.... hugs!

I Love it! As my almost 80 year old mom would say: "you look snazzy!"

Nancy Hutson Maisenbach

I am so glad to see pictures of you girl friend! You look amazing! Yep, with your great sense of style and attitude you will have fun where ever you go.
I will not be wearing boots but I will be sure and put on an attitude of fun and adventure.
Nancy M.

I am so loving boots again. I used to have a red pair that we bought on our first trip to Nashville but got rid of them years ago...they are probably sitting somewhere in a thrift store right now!

I can't wait to get some again...there is an adorable vintage boutique in Ann Arbor, MI and they have tons of boots.

You look absolutely without a doubt adorable!

love ya,

I peeked in again because I can't get over that I have such a beautiful friend in Florida!!!

but you know what?...the more I look at those boots...they are beginning to look just like a pair I had in the seventies and foolishly tossed aside...hmmmmm...could those be my boots?!!!! stinker!!!!

You have the best Blog. You cheer me up all of the time and make me think about me personally sometimes. You also have great taste and a wonderful store to get these wonderful discounts. I wish we had one here. If you are ever in CA, I could use help. I got rid of my boots. You make me realize that anything goes, within reason, but colors work and that is what I am missing plus the nice slim figure you have.
Have a wonderful weekend. Surprisingly, here in Sacramento, CA, it is in the 60's with little bits of rain and tons of wind on and off again. Snowing in the mountains.

Hi Kim love your outfit and you are so cute!!!

Dear Sweet Kim:

Thanks so much for all the wonderful pictures, along with the music. Bright & beautiful. Hope your weekend is as fun as you are. Love the bargains-you wear them well.

Nancy Omachi

Kim, I love that you modeled your boots! We never get to see you and you look great! I just found a tan pair at the antique store yesterday. I have been searching for a while, and they fit perfect for $22 dollars! Not as good as $8....but this girl is ready for walking!

Barbara Theobald

Kim... you look fabulous and ready to party... love the boots and the dress looks beautiful on you... have FUN!!
Love.. Barbara

Josephine Tale Pedder

Wow Kim. You look so young and stunning. I love that dress on you. Your children must love having such a fab, gorgeous Mother. xx

MJ Smith

Kim - you look so cute in that dress and those boots!!! :-)

Bridal registry

Geez..those boots are adorable in a very reasonable price. How lucky of you. The boots and the dress are perfect together too.

HEY, sister boot-wearer!!! I love it, Kim! I also LOVE to wear boots with everything - jeans, skirts, etc. I found 2 pair of ropers for next-to-nothing at the thrift store, and wore them all winter with my long skirts to church. One pair is black, and the other is dark navy blue. So one way or the other, I have boots to go with about any of my skirts. PLUS my other boots, one pair which I wear most of the time - square toed, brown bottoms, muted-red tops, a scalloped top, my favorites of all time! (So far, LOL) Thanks for sharing this post - I love it! HAVE FUN WEARING YOUR BOOTS AND NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR IT. I know what you mean, that they make you feel like you can do anything, and I also feel like I walk better in them. :)

Hey girl, you kick boot-y!!!

Daisy Cottage

THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jane @ Map Shower Curtain

Awesome boots! My husband loves me in boots...and I feel sexy in them too!

OMG those are fabulous boots!!! I only have brown cowgirl boots, but I have black riding boots, and pretend uggs, and some uh, other boots. still, cowgirl boots are the best, I want a red pair.

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
