Oh Ree, if only I could have had the pleasure of meeting you while you were here in my home state, I would have worn MY boots too.
Because I always do.
It's true. THIS Florida girl loves to wear boots. Flip-flops are awesome - fun and freeing, but boots ...
Well boots are made for walking. There is even a song that says so.
;-)
I LOVE my boots. I love my red ones. I love my black ones. I love my brown ones. I wear them with jeans. I wear them with skirts. I wear them with dresses. I love their spunk. There is something about slipping on a pair of boots that makes you feel like you can take on the world.
Or at least your own front yard.
When I found these ivory colored ones at the thrift store, they were practically brand new and they were only $8! WooHoo! I was thrilled as I had been looking and looking for a pair this color FOREVER. My friends will tease me sometimes about my boots but that's okay. I love them anyway. My friends AND my boots.
:-)
I wear my boots everywhere. I never get blisters from them and they help my poor back. I can walk and walk and walk in my boots.
So now that I am showered and dressed in my loudest and best $5 dress ...
I'm ready to kick up my heels and have a wonderful weekend! Someone very special to me is having a birthday!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!
And don't forget your boots!!
Love you,
Me
Hi beautiful friend!
I do think your boots are made for walkin' and
for high stylin', too!
Keep on shining beautifully!
I love you!

Sweet Kim,
You look maahhhvelus!!! I love seeing your pic right after receiving that lovely and kind note from you. As we tell our daughter, "you're beautiful, inside AND out!"
Lady, you got me down to a "T." My house wears red n yellow but my bod wears pink n cream WITH boots - from the thrift store whenever possible. Flip flops are fun, but after an embarassing incident w/a young horse, not recommended on a farm. ;-) Eek, I just caught a glimpse of a yellow w/pink ruffled apron(?) too. Are you sure we're not sisters separated at birth? I hope you have a fun weekend w/much celebrating!
hugs,
Leslie
PS - does Daisy Cottage have a "button" for my blog? <3

Hi Kim! You look DARLING in your boots! I had to smile, because my family thinks my boot-loving is kind of funny. In the winter, it's my black equestrians that I wear all over as well as my UGGS, for practicality in a COLD climate! You are right, when you pull the boots on, it's almost putting on armor that says, Hey, I can take care of myself...I've got my boots on : ) Have a lovely weekend! xx P&H

Have a fabulous weekend!!! I might go lookin' for a pair of boots myself. :)

Are those cute or WHAT? My favorite is the tiny flags on each one...!!!! I betcha they were made in the USA? My daughter wore boots every day of her adult life until she was so far along in her pregnancy that her little ankles and feet swelled really bad...she can't wait to get back into them! Your outfit is toooooo cute and so are you, Kim~

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your boots!! I am wanting a pair in that color too! Living in Texas all of my life, I have grown up wearing boots. They just feel all is 'right' in the world when I'm wearing them. And you are so right - flip flops are nice, but boots are made for walking.
I just started reading your blog a few weeks ago and it is my favorite so far! Thanks for your consistent updates and great photos!

Adorable look, Kim! I'm not sure I could pull it off, but it looks great on you.
You have such a warm and sweet soul that comes through in your pictures and writing. I find myself looking at things, like old lamp posts, differently since I became a reader.
Have a great weekend! Lori

Kim you are my inspiration. This morning when I saw you in those boots and your big smile I thought to myself "She is my hero". You are smart, fun, caring, and a doll in those boots! Walk on and strut your stuff:)
I had to take my dear Mom to the ER last night and I have had so much stress in my life lately. Daisy Cottage always lifts me up each day. Thank you dear friend for being You! Enjoy the birthday party this weekend.

When I was in the 6th grade, I begged and begged my dad to buy me a pair of cowboy boots. He did, but after awhile he noticed that I wasn't wearing them. They had cost a lot more than my regular shoes and he was thinking he'd wasted the money. So, to please my dad I started wearing them everyday to school, no matter what else I was wearing. And it was usually a dress. I think I wore them out but sadly, it was the first and only cowboy boots I've ever owned.
Maybe it's time for another pair.
Those are some beautiful boots you bought and they look great with your dress. Thanks for the memories your post brought back to me.

Your post makes me want to go out and buy a pair of boots:)
The last pair of boots I had were those white "go-go" boots with a zipper on the side or back (I think I must have had 2 pair). I remember wearing them with a hip-hugger skirt with a wide belt and a "po-boy" shirt. That had to be my fave outfit.
Happy birthday to your special person.
your outfit is cute. The boots are a great find. Don't you love such a nice bargain.
Posted by: Renee | May 21, 2010 at 08:51 AM
Love your $8 boots and your $5 dress. I just got a gorgeous black silk dress for $5 at Goodwill. Love a good bargain!! Now I just need to find a great pair of boots like yours. I have not been so lucky there. Have a wonderful weekend and have fun celebrating the birthday! Love & blessings from NC!

Dear Kim,
I belong to the Redhat and I always wear my red boots with fringe with my long purple dress. I wore my red boots to Grandparents Day one year and I was the only Granny in school with cowboy boots. LOL
My frist pair of boots were bought for only $$15.00 in Denver, Colorado in 1960 - that was big bucks at that time. LOL
Love your boots, dress and jewelry - you look smashing.
Hugs,
Connie

You look absolutely ADORABLE!!! And those boots were a STEAL! I always find them but they are too small! Hopefully I will have good luck soon! And your right, there is nothing like boots! Here in upstate NY the weather is so crazy that I could be wearing my boots one day and flip flops the next!! They are both what I always wear, OCCASIONALLY shoes, LOL :)

I am so loving boots again. I used to have a red pair that we bought on our first trip to Nashville but got rid of them years ago...they are probably sitting somewhere in a thrift store right now!
I can't wait to get some again...there is an adorable vintage boutique in Ann Arbor, MI and they have tons of boots.
You look absolutely without a doubt adorable!

I peeked in again because I can't get over that I have such a beautiful friend in Florida!!!
but you know what?...the more I look at those boots...they are beginning to look just like a pair I had in the seventies and foolishly tossed aside...hmmmmm...could those be my boots?!!!!...lol...lol...you stinker!!!!
Posted by: Oma | May 22, 2010 at 03:21 PM
Kim,
You have the best Blog. You cheer me up all of the time and make me think about me personally sometimes. You also have great taste and a wonderful store to get these wonderful discounts. I wish we had one here. If you are ever in CA, I could use help. I got rid of my boots. You make me realize that anything goes, within reason, but colors work and that is what I am missing plus the nice slim figure you have.
Have a wonderful weekend. Surprisingly, here in Sacramento, CA, it is in the 60's with little bits of rain and tons of wind on and off again. Snowing in the mountains.

HEY, sister boot-wearer!!! I love it, Kim! I also LOVE to wear boots with everything - jeans, skirts, etc. I found 2 pair of ropers for next-to-nothing at the thrift store, and wore them all winter with my long skirts to church. One pair is black, and the other is dark navy blue. So one way or the other, I have boots to go with about any of my skirts. PLUS my other boots, one pair which I wear most of the time - square toed, brown bottoms, muted-red tops, a scalloped top, my favorites of all time! (So far, LOL) Thanks for sharing this post - I love it! HAVE FUN WEARING YOUR BOOTS AND NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR IT. I know what you mean, that they make you feel like you can do anything, and I also feel like I walk better in them. :)
