Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

I love your steeple and your lake! I live in a town way up North, USA, that also has a beautiful steeple and is on a lake. I never tire of its various moods....sparkling on sunny days, dark and foreboding on gloomy ones....and even when it is frozen SOLID and covered with snow in the winter time. And of course, all of it's little inhabitants. Right now the Canadian Geese are nesting and soon we will see their babies waddling along after them. Same thing, this time every year, but I never grow tired of it! Thanks for sharing your lake!
xx P&H

Wow...that is one gorgeous lake! Thank you for sharing such awesome photos, it felt like I was there, too!

Absolutely beutiful!! What for an amazing neighborhood :)

Trish Rowley

Just Beautiful!! and I Love that steeple. I used to live around the corner from the Church that my Mother and Father were married in and every Sunday morning they would ring the bells calling people to Church I just loved to hear them, have a great day Kim. Trish xox ')

What beautiful pictures. We live near the lake but too far to walk. We love driving along the winding road next to the lake in the Summertime..catching a glimpse of the Canadian Geese and the Herons. The Church Steeple must be wonderful to gaze upon at different times of the day.
Thanks for sharing those wonderful pictures of your lake and your steeple.

So beautiful..I love the steeple and the lake.

Ruth Graham

Thanks Kim for sharing with all of us. It felt just as if we were all walking along together.

Have a Happy & Special Day Friends!

I Love Pretty Little Things

Pretty & Peaceful!!! I love your view of the steeple, and all of the beautiful animals and plants around your lake.
I have to admit that I have a little envy in my heart this morning. But, then again, I think we should all bloom where we are planted!

Beautiful photos, Kim, and as always, your words ring true!

I have never seen such a variety of birds! :-)

So lovely! I would love to visit the beautiful area that you call home! All of the images you posted make it look like pure perfection!

Hi Kim!
What beautiful pictures!!! I love the one with the lamp post and the flowers! I could hear the ducks and the birds just from reading this!!

Thank you for visiting my blog and the sweet comments~
Have a wonderful Wednesday~
The other brown eyed gal!

I loved visiting the lake with you! I will go any time you want. I love the picture of the steeple too. It looks great! All of the pictures were wonderful.

It is true we are all unique, and none of us are alike. So many times people think they have to fall into a certain category. It is nice to be reminded that different doesn't mean bad. In fact, I think different means special.

You are very special! I hope you have a great day!

What a beautiful lake! It looks like you live in such a beautiful area. Love the small town feel with the church steeple, cute little coffee shop, and to have a lake right in the middle of those beautiful heritage style homes is just the icing on the cake! Have a great Wednesday Sherri : )

Karen Grosshans

I live in Pennsylvania and can also see a steeple from my front porch. It brings me peace and a feeling of stability. Isn't it funny so many miles apart but having the same focal point from our porch. I read your blog everyday and it always makes me smile and now even more like we are neighbors. Thanks.

Beautiful pictures! And being from Southern Calif., I have to drive a ways to see a pretty lake like that! What kind of birds are those in the first picture? I love that they look like they posed for you! Thanks for the field trip!

Oh what lovely pictures! I love spring and how it feel's so clean and new!

Suzy Miller

Hello Kim!
I smiled really big when I opened up your pictures today.
This is the very thing that I love to do...walk around my city and take pictures of it just being who it is...MY city.
I am very new to the blogging world...and don't have it all figured out just yet...but I do know that all I really need to just be ME and the blog will be just fine.
I love beauty...nature, in it's natural is so amazing and cries out to us to simply take the enjoy and cherish it each and every day.
Thank you Kim...for treating us with your pictures and sharing your city...your little part of the world...with is a beautiful place to live!
Take care,

Oh Kim, thans for showing us your pictures. DH drove me around the lake and it was something to behold. I know why you love your lake and your town. Its a magical place to live - the swans, flowers and birds simply take my breath away. I love it there and wished I could be a part of that lifestyle. However, I think its too late for DH and me due to our age, finances and health issues. I love it so - I feel like I viewed a "little slice of heaven." Thanks again.

what a wonderful way to start my day. a beautiful tour and coffee in hand :)

Sheri Howard

I love your little lake...and all the water fowl...especially the black swan sitting on it's nest. What is the beautiful bird with the red beak and legs? Very pretty! What a happy place for you!

Barbara Anne

Lovely! I once read something that returns to my mind from time to time:
"God has two home, one in heaven and the other in a thankful heart."

Your appreciation of the natural world and creatures surrounding you is a gift. Thank you for opening our eyes to see what you see.

So happy that there is one unique you showing us your beautiful surroundings...

Yes, it is beautiful. Your area is quite beautiful, but oh that downtown. Love it, the quilt shop, the eateries, the market place on the square, OMGosh I cannot forget the train going right through the town, it is an amazing place. Blessings, Janet

I have always loved the lake section of Florida that you call home. I remember strolling around similar lakes as a child with my parents.

One world with one heart growing stronger every day.

Ashley Schott

Oh Kim, what gorgeous photos. You are one lucky lady to have a view like that. What a beautiful steeple. What a beautiful lake:)

Hi Kim,

Just divine!

Looks like a beautiful neighborhood and wonderful pictures!

These are some of my favorite pictures that you have ever posted! Just lovely. Aren't white pelicans awesome - SO big! I don't live on a lake, but do live on a canal. Even the canal turns different colors at different times of day, and I love to see all the water birds that visit. Thank you for the tour today!

Sweet Kim,
I am in awe! All I can say is THANK YOU. Thank you for taking me to your lake. You made my day.... just like you do every day.
Love & Hugs,

Lynn Paterson

Loved all the photos of the ducks & swans......they were very beautiful. Made me feel like I was right there feeding the ducks. I'm with you on church steeples.....they are so peaceful to look at in the sky.

So many signs of spring. Wonderful pictures.

Thank you for the beautiful pictures of your lake, Kim! Gosh, I'm jealous! I could identify every bird except for the ones in the second picture. After Googling and looking at many birds I found out they are white ibis. So thank you for teaching me something new today. :)

Mary Lou

WOW!! Beautiful.

Kathleen Grace

Oh how beautiful Kim! I didn't know you lived on a lake and I have been following you for about 3 years! How did that get past me? Love the birds and wildlife. I would be out there watching them all the time!

Diane Price

Beautiful, beautiful photos. The birds looked like they were posing for you. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful photography. I'm curious about the small birds on the fence. Do you know what they are?

Becky from Tennessee

How beautiful, Kim! The steeple is so
pretty. Your hometown looks like such
an inviting and peaceful place to live.
I love the lake, the flowers, and all
the water fowl. Pelicans are my favorite.
Unfortunately, here in middle TN we don't
have very many of them! LOL! I am not a
"hot weather" person but I believe I would
actually enjoy living in your area with all
it's beauty.

Lauren LeJeune

What a beautiful lesson to take from a day at the lake. It does look like quite an inspiring place. :)

Kate Reddan

You are so lucky to live where you live. I would love to visit Lakeland. I live here in Long Beach NY. Right down the street from my house is the Atlantic Ocean. I can see it from my front porch. I can't believe how lucky I am to get to look at that beautiful sight everyday.I think there is beauty in everything if we take the time to look for it. Somethings are more obvious than others but it really is true "There's no place like home". Thanks for sharing your hometown with us.

pogonip @ meadowsweet cottage

What a lovely lake you have, as well as a beautiful view. Water is so relaxing to be around!

What a beautiful lake!! You live in such a pretty area! Love the black swan! I wish sometimes that I lived closer to the water. But since I don't...we take a lot of day and weekend trips to lakes in our state and to states that are close by.
Thanks for showing us your lake in your home town.

Kim as a Nature lover you know how much I love this post! That swan peaceful almost spiritual!!sigh anna

Kimberly Padilla

One of my favorite posts you have ever put! Of course, I love the ones of your home, your activities and precious, beautiful Maggie, but these photos are just amazing! I can definitely tell you have been practicing with your camera. This post just so magnificently show God's creation and your description of the lake and the creation (and even us being one of a kind) so glorifies Him! Love you! Kimberly ♥

D. @ Outside Oslo

Don't you love how there are so many things of beauty all around us--such as your lake and its inhabitants--to appreciate? Sometimes just taking a look--an intentional look--at the world around us is enough to inspire us and fill us with joy and wonder. Blessings to you!

What a lovely lake! And you have it with all these beautiful flowers and birds just around the corner?? That's absolutely fantastic! :-)

Nancy Collins

Hi Kim, your pics are beautiful and amazing! I love all the lakes and water we have in Florida. I have driven by
"your" lake many times and visited Munn Park and all the lovely shops that surround it. Thanks for sharing. As a child, I lived directly across the road from a white country church with a steeple and always loved it. It was surrounded with a grove of maple trees!
Have a wonderful day!
Smiles and God's Blessings,
Nancy C

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
