Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Oh how I wish I could be there. Sigh...I'll just have to settle for all of the wonderful pictures I know you will take and share with us.
I am however, looking forward to our trip on May 1 to a place called Aberfoyle, Ontario. The antique market's opening day is May 1 and my hubby and I will be there. 30 acres of antiques and fabulous finds. I can't wait!
Have a great day!

Kathleen Grace

Oh my, kittens that age are so adorable! I love those sweet little faces:>) Wish I were in Lakeland for the flea. It looks wonderful!

Privet and Holly

Kim, your photos are REALLY special. You INSPIRE me to plug away with my own camera! The Fancy Flea sounds AMAZING and I can understand why you are so excited about it. And, you are sharing it with friends, which makes it all the SWEETER. You can bet that I'll be checking back for MORE about the big event! Happy Monday..... xx P&H

Lynda Bee

Wish I lived in Florida ! I would love to catch the FANCY
FLEA ! Lori's things are just divine! I live in Central
Illinois, so that would be more than a day trip !
Hope you had a great weekend and I'm sure this next one will
be even better! Enjoyed your posts Kim !
Thanks for sharing !

Karen Davis

Sounds like a wonderful that you'll have at this Fancy Flea!!! Wish I lived nearby, or close enough to hop on a plane for it... S. Korea is a bit far!

Janet (Shabbyfufu)

Hi sweets......looks YUMMY!! Wish Lakeland wasn't a several hr drive from Miami or you KNOW that I would be up to shop! ~xoxo~ Janet

Jen

I, too, wish I lived in the vicinity. I really enjoy your photos Kim, and wish you could come and redo my whole house. My heart lives in an old two story house full of character, but in reality I live in a ranch that I'm determined to give some character to. I'm trying to practice contentment where I'm at. But thanks for your lovely scenes that I look forward to each morning.

Jackie

What beautiful photos Kim!

I will be hoping to make the Fancy Flea!

Have a blessed week!

Judy

The Fancy Flea sounds like so much fun....we have nothing like that here so it's so much fun to see your photos....what a treat! Kittens are so sweet....but Maggie probably doesn't want to share. Judy

Trish Rowley

Hi Kim, I would love to come to the Fancy Flea it sounds wonderful but I live to far away and you can't get on a plane out of Australia for the next 2 weeks because of the backlog of people from the vulcano in Iceland. But not to worry I know that you will have a great time. Have a great day. Trish xox ;)

Kim,

I'm sure you notice that almost every post has the word "WISH" in it!! That's one of your great talents, I think---you kindle wishes. And dreams.

The outing and the entire day sound wonderfully fun, with all that creative air and the beautiful treasures.

Jane

I so wish I could come to this, Kim. It sounds like there will be something for everyone! I know you will have lots of pictures. Can't wait!!

I will be shopping with you in my heart Kim. I noticed that the address reads Kentucky Ave. so since I'm from KY you'll have to think of me when you are there. Daisy Mae said to tell you that she does not like "puddy's" either. There is one that visits her while she is sunning by the sliding glass doors in the afternoons. And it drives her nuts! Is it a Doxie thing? Who knows? LOL Love you muchly! Robyn and Daisy Mae

LeAnn

Oh I'm so so so sad!! Did I hear a tangerine vanity??? I will have to live vicariously through your photos:(

Wow! It sounds like a lot of fun, but I live too far away to come. I am sure there will be a lot of wonderful things to look at and buy. Those kittens are so cute! My puppies do not like kitten either.

I hope you have a wonderful Monday!

I don't know what kind of a camera you have but those are the most vivid photos I have ever see, I felt like I was standing there myself! Love the kittens too, with such sweet faces, I don't understand how anyone could ever be cruel to kittens. Love that mosaic water can..beautiful. Wish I could be there....come say hi :D

Connie

Darn it! DH wanted to stay till the end of April and I should have LISTENED - forgot the event was on May 1st. I wished I could be there - your downtown is so unique and everything set up will just be icing on the cake.

Thanks for the email about Beth's garden.

Have they perfected the Dorothy method of transportation yet? If only I could click my heels together, I would be there for sure. While we are at it, could you please pop those little kittens in an envelope for me...I would love to have them live in my home...our Pixie will be very nice to them,
♥, Susan

Anna

Aww those Kitty's are adorable! Have fun during the Fancy Flea event :)

Carrie@ My Kinda Boring Life

What sweet kittens.

Teresa, St. Paul, TX

I wish I could drop everything and go to Florida! I could even visit my family in West Palm Beach (after the Fancy Flea, of course). But, I can't make it. :( Have a wonderful time and please be sure to show us the goodies you bought.

Scribbler

I wish that Fancy Flea could be here in my city! It looks like just my kind of happening. The turquoise chest is so me.

Those kitties are too cute -- and "Fancy: is good. Maybe not "Flea" though!

Best,

Scribbler

Goodmorning Kim

Like everyone else, I do wish I was not so far away(Ontario) because it sure sounds like a lot of fun. I guess I will also have to wait for all the lovely photos you will share with us after. I'm assuming you will be. Right? Have a good rest of the day.

Fay Marie

Oh, I wish I could come - if only I lived in Florida! That one photo of the lamp with the adorable tan with pink roses and blue leaves lampshade is beautiful. I wonder how much it is????

I wanted to let you know that I posted some of my favorite Flickr photos of Ms. Maggie and Marley for Mary's Mosaic Monday and hope you don't mind. They are such sweeties and I couldn't resist showing them off on my blog.

Have a lovely day dear Kim!

I want those kitties!!!! I'm too far away to join in the fun. Have a grand time with all the goodies.

P.S. Good idea on the names for the kittens! I loved that!

janet

Oh how I wish I could be there to meet you and all your fabulous friends whose homes I adore. About those adorable kittens...don't you think it might be bad karma to name a kitten "Flea"? I'm just saying...

Sandi ~ A Cottage Muse

How could you resist those beautiful faces ~ and those eyes! Fancy and Flea are perfect names! Thanks for the beautiful photos full of happy colors! Definately brightened my day!

Shelly Virtue

HEY ALL, maybe we should designate May 1st as "National Fancy Flea Day" Then everyone that wants to participate and shop can!!! We can have one in our home town and know if we are traveling there will be Fancy Flea's along the way. Now that sounds like a great time!
NATIONAL FANCY FLEA DAY........I like that! ;)

Cindy

Kim,
Oh how I wished I lived close enough to come to "The Fancy Flea".
And those kittens sure are adorable!!
~Cindy~

Barbara Anne

I could spend the day on your blog and the wonderful photos you take of home interiors and all things delicious! Love the music, too.

Wish I could be there on May 1st. Sigh!

Remember this poem?
The trouble with a kitten's that
All too soon it becomes a CAT!

We have two cats, so I can talk. Our Tom used to look like Fancy but he's now Tub o'Tom or Ton o'Tom!

Hugs!

karen reddan

I do wish so much that I could be there at the Fancy Flea!!! Oh well, maybe next year. I love Lori's painted furniture. That is my love. Right now I am working on a dining room table and chairs that I bought for only $26 for the whole set at my favorite thrift store. I can't believe it!!! I'm so excited!!!
Thanks for the daily dose of inspiration. You are my favorite blog!
Love,
Kate

Melissa Sobo

Well, we do live close enough and are planning on coming up from the Fort Myers area!! Super excited... I assume we take 75 to 4 but what exit should we take from 4?

Tanya

I would love to be at the Fancy Flea but live out of state. Way out. I have the same wrought iron chairs (black)that your friend has in her garden but mine are in white. I've been thinking about painting them and the black looks beautiful. Hmmm.

magpie chic

I am so envious!!! It looks wonderful. I can only dream of such things ...

Nancy Hutson Maisenbach

So many adorable, beautiful, cute, delicious and precious things to feast my eyes on. Love the hardware on the chest and the fat white chicken on the chair. The kittens are as cute as they can be. I am remembering last years photos you took at the Fancy Flea. Lakeland, FL is a lovely place.
Hope the weather is pleasant.

Sherri@lavenderfields

What a fun way to spend an afternoon being surrounded by such beauty as well as such creative and inspirational people! I wish I could go : ( Hopefully you will take lots of pictures to share! Have fun!

Barbara Theobald

Kim, If I didn't live so far that would certainly be where I would spend the day.. with hopes of meeting you too! You capture such beauty through the lens of your camera... lucky for us we can visit Daisy Cottage and go along with you to the Fancy Flea. Such yummy colors you describe that Lori has for treasures... Have lots of fun Kim!! Thank you for sharing.. Love, Barbara :)

Debbie from Texas

Wish I could be there! I would probably buy too much, though.:) Have lots of fun. Hubby and I are going to the Hill Country (that is west Texas) for a few days. Should be just beautiful-all the flowers are in bloom. I will be thinking of you, though. Love, love your pictures of the kittens! So cute!!

Lavender Dreamer

The kittens are so sweet, Kim! Look at those baby blues! I sure would love to come to the festival! I'm not too very far away! I wish! ♥

Kelly

Oh, you are going to have so much fun Miss Kim! I can't wait to see what you bring home... and then were it will all go in Daisy Cottage.
The kittens are so cute. But I'm glad they're only on my computer screen, my eyes would be swollen and red if they were any closer! I am so darn allergic to cats.

Mary Lou

Wow, a fancy flea is right! If only I were closer.
the kittens are so cute but I wouldn't want to rock Miss Maggie's boat..I'm just saying.

Oh Kim you have to come to my blog and see the little kitten we found Sunday. We brought her home and she is our baby! Our dachshund is 15 and is not too happy about it. Our lab thinks she's the mama. It's the most precious thing you've ever seen.

April aka The Junk Goddess

Kim
What a wonderful thing to read that soooo many people "wish" to be in our delightful Lakeland. I absolutely can't wait until Saturday to do a Kentucky Ave stroll from the curbmarket to The Fancy Flea.

Jeannie

I want to buy everything she's selling! How I wish I could be there!

  • "I just discovered your blog and am blown away with the comfortable, almost nostalgic feel of it...almost like finding a long-lost friend after many years apart...somehow familiar, but all so exciting and new." ~ Jane

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

  • "What I love best about Daisy Cottage is Kim. I love the way you appreciate every good thing in life and embrace joy in every moment." ~ Rose

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

  • "Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

  • "Your words and thoughts of encouragement help me see myself with value. You are a blessing. Thank you." ~ Tracy

Thank you Karen!

  • "Your humble spirit has not changed through your many posts here in Blogland. You have been blessed with a special gift and I am very thankful you share it with us." ~ Karen

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
