Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Becky G.

Awwwwwwwww, Miss Maggie (and Kim, too) how sweet and how special to be told you are loved! You two are a bright spot in my days, and I always save reading your blog until last or next to last just because I always walk away feeling brighter and better for the experience!

I'm going to be in FL pretty soon, just wish I was going to be in YOUR part of the state, because I would love to meet you somewhere for a chat! Thanks for reminding us that love is to be given and received, even to someone we have never met in person. Love is universal and best when freely given and openly received! Blessings, Becky G. in GA

And you sure are our Sunshine Kim :) Wish you a wonderfull day! xoxox

I can't tell you how much I enjoy your pictures. You can even make a broom look wonderful. Love your Maggie. Thanks so much for brightening my day.

Kim, how to you get Miss Maggie to pose for you? That face says it all. I have been home only a week and I miss Florida so much. I live in Indiana and we are having a beautiful spring but I miss the sun, the birds and the beautiful flowers/palm trees. You are so lucky to live in Daisy Cottage.

Your blog always put a smile on my face and warms my heart.

I'm new to your blog, but oh how I have been blessed. Your music takes me back to the days of my teenage years. Stranger on the Shore by Pete Fountain was one of my Dad's favorites. He's been gone a long time, but how wonderful to be transported in memory to another time, another place. Your Daisy Cottage is lovely and must surely have the "homey" feel to it. I love your decorating touch. Thank you for creating such a peaceful setting.
Now I hear "Moon River" and I go back to remembrance of my first real boyfriend and our first formal dance. His parents drove us to a birthday party about 30 miles away from our little town in south Mississippi where we danced the evening away. We were in the seventh grade. How is that for telling my age? The Lord bless you with His favor today.

Lovely pictures as always Kim, but I had no idea that the steps leading to your door were that gorgeous green! How lovely, and just more proof that you embrace color, and know how to use it!

You are so sweet ~ both of you! This is such a happy place to be :)

Next to Lola (shi tzu who lets me take care of her) Maggie is one of my favorite canine "people." They really are friends, aren't they! And you and Maggie have one of the best relationships I know of.

This is such a good way to start my day, your beautiful photos, your cheery disposition and a cup of coffee with cream of course!

Oh how I would love to come and just hang out with you and Maggie. Everything looks so peaceful and relaxing. I think that would be about one of the best days for me.

Maggie is one adorable furbaby! Please give her some hugs and scritches from me and our little Dolly Darlene :) Love the picture of the Daisy too ... they were our Daughter's all time favorite flower :) Blessings on your day!

The photographs in this post are my all time favourites. The sentiment behind them is why we come here every day.
Have a wonderful day hanging out with Maggie Kim......

I had a fevered child this morning, so of course I ran around getting thermometers, cold pacs, blankets, a bed tray, water bottles, etc. He was so well taken care of that now (merely 10am) he is feeling so much better.

Meanwhile I'm walking around feeling like I've forgotten something. I cancelled work, cancelled his day's plans, hrm....what could it be? WHAT did I forget that is so important that I feel like I've forgotten my right arm at home.

OH! You...I forgot to read your lovely blog that puts me in the mood to appreciate the little beauties of the day. Your photos are like a world of pretty reminders for me. I stop and smell roses, tickle lady bugs, brush my hand against my rosemary bush on the way to the car, etc...because of you. Thank you, Kim...and I apologize for my absent mindedness. I'll work hard to never forget again. :)

Miss Jean

Oh, love back to your little Maggie! I hope she knows how much we all love her (and her Mommy, too).

Teacup Lane (Sandy)

She is so sweet and so darn cute, can you give her hugs & kisses for me (;

You are the first bog I go to, with my cup of coffee of course, and you never cease to make me smile. I listen to STRANGERS ON THE SHORE, as way back when, I took it to state contest with my clarinet. I won't say how many years ago but it brings back memories. Give Maggie a hug and have a good day..............JAN

I wish that you lived closer so that Bentley and I could come over to your cottage and hang out with you and Maggie. The next day, you and Maggie could come over and hang out at our cottage. But alas, we are far apart. Thankfully there is this wonderful place called Blog Land where we can visit each other and other friends every day. Thank you for the beautiful photos. You bring sunshine to my day!!

Kim & Maggie~

I will hang out with you anytime! I love all of the pictures they are wonderful! I hope you are having a great Tuesday!

Brenda Kula

I see you're just gardening your little heart out, Kim! You have to try these purple African daisies I found this year. I have them in a container and they're sooo pretty and good little bloomers.

Hi Kim. I really liked the picture of the daisy....actually all of your pics....give Maggie a hug for me.

Take care.....

Oh Kim and Maggie, too! What am I going to do with you!? My spirit skips a beat when I visit your blog! I come around quite often, yaw know. I would love to just hang out on your porch. Heck, I am by so often…I feel like I have actually been there. I know it by heart. Grins!

I just started my own blog. I mentioned you in my post regarding color and how you have inspired me to add it to my backyard. My interior is very neutral, so doing so will add a little pizzazz round' here. I am excited about the whole transition. Kristtie

Hello Kim....I love visiting with you everyday....Maggie is just adorable. I have a long haired doxy called Suzie Q. She turned 16 yesterday and is now hard of hearing and almost blind, but still acts like a puppy at times. Every two months I take her for steroid shots as her hind legs give out every once in awhile, but we still have fun with her. God Bless you and yours*~*~*~*~*

Very cute. I have a mini too--Bella. She's dappled and short haired but every bit a doxie.

Kim, I am so excited! I am now a blogger myself! Just got it all started today. You and Maggie come by and visit Daisy Mae and I, but please keep in mind that I'm just learning! I still haven't figured out how to post photos within my post...URGH! Take care and Love ya muchly...Robyn and Daisy Mae from KY

It's too bad Joey and Maggie couldn't hang out together today - he's in a pensive Doxie mood today, too. Thinking it's our gray, showery Spring weather. I think he's thinking he doesn't get to go for a walk but he's wrong - we're going in a few minutes and I'm sure he will perk right up! Love your photos - and love hanging out with you!

Patty O'Malley

What a sweet post! Love back at you and Miss Maggie!

Awwwww, your posts always make me smile. Give Maggie an extra little pat on the head.

Nancy Hutson Maisenbach

I am very glad you and Maggie will continue to bring us your special love. Your loving personality is an inspiration to me. I have told you many times how you have influenced me to open my heart and see life as the beautiful gift it is. Yesterday and today's photos are a feast for the eyes. I stopped and gazed at the daisy for a long while. Deep breath in ,exhale, more relaxed now.
Thank you,
Nancy M.
I am sitting in a hotel. :( Going home tomorrow. :)

Brenda Kamback

What a lovely, relaxing site! So glad I stopped by! Love your pictures and music and of course precious Maggie!
Added you to my favorites.
Thank you.
Brenda K.

Debra Howard

I always enjoy visiting you. What a fun sunshiney place to be.

You know Kim, I have to say that YOU are the daisy in my life too! In fact, not a day passes that I do not stop by to visit. Some days I haven't enough time to comment, but I am always here. You have lifted my spirits on more days than I can count...and "Stranger on the Shore" fills me with peace when I hear it because it reminds me of you. Thank you so much for being YOU and for adding a bit of brightness for all of us.

Today is our Dog-iversary and I'm off to hang out with my favorite fur-baby. Ear tickles and belly rubs for Maggie-girl.

Kimberly C.

I love Maggie!

That pic of Maggie being pensive is one of the best of her that I have seen. Sheesh she is adorable.

Hope you are enjoying your flowers. We are still getting frost so things are coming about slowly in Ohio.

God bless.

Maggie is so adorabe! Didn't you used to have another dog, Marley? I haven't read anything about him lately. Is he ok? Hope you have a blessed wonderful week !

Kim, I always enjoy visiting your blog! It is nice to just hang out here for awhile enjoying your various posts, and it's been nice to get to know you through your photos and comments. You are an encouragement to me!

And I sure didn't mean to leave Maggie out --- she's one of the most adorable dogs I've ever seen. Her personality sure comes through, and is a delight. :) I'm glad she's a part of your blog!

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

  • "Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
