It really is a small world.
While visiting an unrelated website, sweet Beth landed on a link to my blog for the first time. She realized after reading some of the entries and seeing the photos that I lived in a town nearby. After I shared on my blog about our local store, Vintage, she and her husband, Paul, decided to drive over one day and visit the store and I happened to be in there at the same time too. She introduced herself and said that she read my blog. And then after we chatted for awhile, we realized that we had actually worked together in the same place a LONG LONG time ago.
A small world indeed.
We have kept in touch and Beth kindly invited me over to her home for a visit. As you can see, her home is as lovely as can be ...
And her porches and gardens are adorable. She generously allowed me to take some photos of her charming outdoor spaces to share with you. So let's take the tour together ...

I spy a lizard in one of these photos - do you? Let me know if you find him too. ;-)
Everything is so vibrant and fun! Beth, who loves all things home and garden, has created a magical place with her whimsical touches and creative flair. I am definitely inspired!
Thank you Beth for being the hostess with the mostess and for the happy garden day! And she and I even slipped away for a bite of lunch and to a little nearby shop where I found this tea towel to give away to one of you ...
*edited to add that I thought when I saw this tea towel that it must be the creation of this wonderful artist and now that I've checked her blog to refresh my memory IT IS!!! So cute dear Charlotte! Yes it IS a small world!!
I think it is just adorable! And along with the Happy Day tea towel, I am giving away a little bird salt & pepper shaker set from Pier 1 and a vintage garden tool ...
If you'd like the chance to win my Giveaway, please leave a comment below and share with us what YOUR favorite flower is too.
You already know mine.
;-)
I'll pick the winner on Friday night at midnight.
'Til then.... HAPPY GARDENING!!!!!

Definitely love Gerber daisies - so happy and fresh and summery! beautiful pics!
Posted by: Lou Ann | April 23, 2010 at 03:25 PM
What a beautiful garden, makes me want to jump into the pictures and just sit and enjoy the beauty! My favorite is the gerber daisy. Several years ago while working at the local botanical gardens plant sale, someone asked me to make a container that would bloom all summer for them. I put the gerber daisy in the middle. All was well until some "more educated" gardeners showed up and said the the gerber wouldn't grow more than a month or so. Well you could have blown me away as I have several in my yard that come back every year and bloom all summer long!

The gardens are so beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing with us on your blog. My favorite flower is the rose and they are absolutely beautiful in Texas with all of the rain and wildflowers we have had this spring. Lots of blooms everywhere! I see people stopping at our driveway sniffing the rose bushes! Such a joy! You are such a joy in my daily life. I read your blog every morning early and sometimes I go back during the day just to see it again! I get such wonderful ideas and "feelgood" feelings from it! You're a great photographer and I feel so lucky to have found your blog! I am truly amazed at the hearts that were sent to you and for Jack! Isn't our world just full of wonderful people!

Dear Kim,
Thank you so much for the beautiful photos and story on our garden. It has been such an honor to have you share it with all of your dear blogging friends. We have been so blessed while reading each comment. Thank you to everyone for your sweet words. To answer some of the questions....yes we do have to clear the garden before any hurricanes, but fortunately that doesn't happen too often and we usually have several days warning so we don't have to rush around securing everything at the last minute. I have to say my dear husband is so sweet about helping me put everything away and he hardly ever complains about having to make all those trips back and forth to the garage with all "my" garden ornaments and yes my pillows do once in awhile end up in the neighbors yard, but our sweet neighbors just bring any strays home. By the way Kim, like so many others, I can't choose just one favorite flower. Aren't we blessed to live in a world filled with so many wonderful blooms? Blessings to you and your readers, Beth

I love your gardens as well as your friend Beth's. We are just now getting warm enough weather that we can 'putter' around outside and leave flowers out throughout the night. I love it! My favorite flower(s) would be yellow roses and daisies. I had them both in my wedding over 30 years ago and I still love them all these years later. Thanks for the great blog. Lori

How about anything that blooms for me? :) Love Beth's garden and her stone fireplace is wonderful! My favorite is the Camellia.
(I did not know what a Camellia was, or have an appreciation for old timey pecan trees or magnolia trees, etc. when I first purchased an older house with established plants and trees. My first winter I felt depressed and disappointed;it was cloudy, colder than Florida, and while feeling soo sorry for myself I looked over my shoulder and out the living room window and noticed these Beautiful pink and fuchsia blooms have just appeared! I thought I was seeing things. But from that moment on, the Camellia bloom is and will always be my favorite, and reminds me there is a great celebration in all Four seasons.)

Good Afternoon (this friday) and thank you for such an inspiring look at Beth's garden. It is such a breath of fresh wonderful air. I agree with another "fan" ... it appears that the 2 of you have similar styles ... wonderfully whimsical and inviting styles. My favorite flower is the geranium! I love their fragrance and their sturdiness. I have many colors .. they seem to love So Cal.
Warm hugs,

Favorite flower is hard to say. I garden mostly with natives, but can't resist overflowing planters of old-fashioned annuals to great visitors. I think I will say... Monarda didyma (aka. Bergamot, Scarlet Beebalm, Scarlet Monarda, Oswego Tea) for the hummingbirds and finches alike that it brings to my garden.
Posted by: Melissa | April 23, 2010 at 08:42 PM
Gorgeous indeed! I adore daffodils. Not the "fanciest" flower, but we had a huge field of them growing up. Every spring they bring back such fond memories of growing up in Indiana.
Love your blog and genuine kindness!

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful garden with us,it's something I miss moving around so much with hubby in the military but my favorite flower would have to be the rose...it's seems it doesn't matter how neglected the plant is, it always manages to give you a beautiful bloom not to mention the exquisite scent of a rose.
Cheers Michelle S.

As always I've loved reading your blog and seeing the wonderful pictures. I love being able to see other people's homes, their sense of style, and enjoyment of color. I've started my own blog as well to journal my transition of creating a new home for my children and me after my divorce.
My favorite flower are Hyacinths, with Hyndrangea's closely behind them.

Aloha Kim, My favorite flower would have to be "all of them" :-) But if I had to pick just one that would be the orchid. It hails from one of the largest plant families. Thank you for the beautful post! Your giveaway is darling.

Thanks Kim, for all the encouragement and inspiration - unaware, you have transformed yet another blogger.
Beth's garden is without a doubt lovely! A place you could sit awhile and just ponder, I like that. In Prince Edward Island our season is well behind yours and so I come and lurk about blog-world for gardening tips.
Truly the "Magnolia" is by far my favourite, it never graces-us for long, is forgiving and pure in colour, then reminds us with foliage and fills.
