Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. Goodbye For Now

I am REALLY going to miss you.

But I will be back soon.  The MOPS are coming tomorrow to Daisy Cottage!  I am cleaning and primping and HOPING that they enjoy their visit. AND I happily have a new home story to write for Romantic Country.  Glorious Easter is coming and we will be celebrating my mother's 76th birthday. And there are quite a few precious hearts that need to be photographed so that I may share them ALL with you. So I guess I must say my goodbyes for now.

Laundry Love

I know that I have shared with you before about how much I love NOT having a "real" laundry room.

And this morning, as I was washing sheets, I was reminded why.  The sunlight was extra gorgeous, the birds were extra happy, and the spring air was as fresh as a daisy.

And to think, I would have missed ALL of this outdoor bliss if I had been doing laundry inside.

Regardless as to whether we do our laundry inside or out, it is SO the little things that make up our days, isn't it?  Of course there are the BIG things and the in-between things.  But I am most grateful for the little things. The things that we do because it is what we do.  The day in and day out things - the everyday things.  The things that we have done a zillion times before, knowing that they will need to be done a zillion times again. The repetitive solo dance that we do as we twirl through a single day.  And when I get fussy and don't want to do some of these things I sternly remind myself how lucky I am to be alive and able to do them.  And then I feel grateful again.

Mary's House

It was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day for the neighborhood home tour.

 

I was a volunteer for the event and my job was to host Mary and Gary's house.  I love hosting one of the tour houses each year.  And this year was no exception because Mary and Gary are such sweethearts.  Not only a gorgeous couple, but as kind and welcoming as they can be. 


Although I wasn't able to take photos during the tour day of the other houses, I was able to take some of Mary and Gary's home before the tour began just for YOU.  AND I woke up a little early to take a few photos of some of the porches of the homes that were on the tour.  Please excuse any dark or fuzzy ones - it was early and I was feeling "fuzzy" too.  ;-)

There were 12 homes on the tour and EACH one were unique and so special to visit.  The homeowners worked really hard to prepare for the special day as well as all of the volunteers.  And it is always worth it as our guests are most appreciative and seem to enjoy the day each year very much. 


So let's tour my sweet friend Mary's house, shall we?  This is where I was for the day.

Mary and Gary's house was built in 1920 and they are only the third owners of the home.  This home is a true family home where family and friends love to gather.  Mary has decorated it with many family pieces that are dear to her and she has decked her walls with many of her own glorious paintings as she is a VERY talented artist.  I THINK I have convinced her to show her art at the upcoming Fancy Flea on May 1st.

I wish that I could have captured more of this charming home for you but I had to get to work.  I hope you enjoyed seeing a little bit of Mary and Gary's historic home.  They love living here and hope to be here for many more years to come. 


Speaking of love - I LOVED meeting some of you for the first time AND seeing some of you again!  What a thrill and that made an already special day even more special for me!  Thank you so much for saying hi and thank you for being SO incredibly sweet.  You know who you are and please know that I treasure you.


Yes, it WAS a beautiful day. In every single way.

Hello Weekend

I am so looking forward to our neighborhood home tour on Saturday and to the golden sunshine that my Florida is famous for.  IF it should rain, I will be prepared with my red umbrella - but of course!  ;-)
