Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Mimi Sue

You don't have to be perfect to be beautiful. Or so Nester says. That pink scarf is definitely Maggie's color. Mimi

Julie Harward

Oh, how sweet! Animals are hard to get a picture of and they seem to be pretty smart about us going for the cat hides when she hears me turn it on! Come say hi :D

She is such a good little model! And adorable too!!! Thanks for sharing! :)
I went "junkin" this weekend, just posted about it :)

Maggie is such a sweet little model. She looks good from any angle :)

awww.. Maggie looks so sweet with the new scarf :) Well.. not every dog is a perfect dog, mine sure isn't at all, but I love her like no other one :) Have a nice day Kim :)

marina mott

She is absolutely cute!!!

Patti VZ

What a sweetheart! :)

Maggie is the most darling dog! She looks so cute in pink!
I'm going to show this post to Nugget right away. He will be thrilled!

Maggie -- I think you are perfect just the way you are.

She's precious as always!

Kim Nichols

She is soooo cute. I just love your post because it makes me smile. Great way to start the day...Kim

Hi Kim-
I wanted to let you know that I posted today about the Hearts for Jack. I started sewing over the weekend after a long, long time away from it and the first thing I made was a heart. A short time after that I read your post and now I am making another one to send your way.

I will send you an e-mail to get the address.

Big hugs!

PS- I love me some Maggie ;)

Angie Antwine

Aw Maggie!
I can totally relate to this! My little dachshund Spanky, goes into a sad mode the minute I get out the camera. He always looks so happy and sweet but when I try to take a picture he looks away or gives me this pitiful look. Aren't weinies funny??? Anyway, I think Maggie is adorable and Spanky does too!

Jo Anne

She's more cooperative than the grand twins. She's workin' that new scarf. Go, Maggie!

I just love Miss Maggie!

Becky G.

Oh, sweet! Funny and sweet! Don't you know by now that Doxies only do what Doxies want to do and only on the Doxie's timetable??? You did well - my Doxie girls would never stay still for that long - unless they had a rawhide bone between their paws! Have a great day! Becky

I am sitting here chuckling - you two are so funny and cute!

She is precious and has the sweetest face. I love her.

Maggie IS perfect. Is there any other dog that has such a following? We sure love her.

Smart dog indeed.....what was she after? A treat? A cat? A better offer?
Smiling in Colorado,

Maggie is just too cute in her new scarf. : )

Maggie is precious and your photos of her are just great. You and your camera are creating such beauty to share. You make my day, everyday. Thank you for that.

Nancy Omachi

Ahhh, so sweet! Love her!

Bella StyleBook

Dogs and children...they always do as we ask, right?

So cute! Maggie is adorable!

Miss Jean

My Maggie is the same way. She'll look at me - perfecty - I take the shot. There's the flash delay and......... turn!

Kate Reddan

My Chewy is the same way. Why do they look so sad when we want to take their picture? Oh well, Maggie looks beautiful no matter what. She is adorable just like her mommy. You are so much fun!!!

Peg Gilham

You are a delight! I have a maltipoo named Tuffy who is just plain nasty. He is allergic to grass and we have had allergy shots and now down to a pill a day. He lets me know when I should be in the kitchen cooking- At 4:15 he sits and stares at me and snorts because it's time for his teaspoon of ice cream. He really runs the show and he is so pretty but really has a nasty disposition. Only a dog that the old owners would love!

♥ Maggie ♥ perfect just the way she is!

Joey was sitting with me as I read blog. He thinks Maggie is as beautiful as ever! He likes her new scarf and he sends his Valentine greetings to her!

Jayme/The Coop Keeper

That is one cute dog! I love the last pic of the empty chair. Doesn't that say it all!? Chickens are especially challenging to photograph. All you end up with are chicken butts.

Sussi Sassmannshausen

Maggie is beautiful. My kitty, Maggie, sends kitty-kisses.

Maggie is so darn cute! I can rarely get my Izzy to do what I want when I take her picture. As always, love your blog!

Pink looks so lovely on you Miss Maggie. You are so beautiful just like your mommy.
Hugs from Canada
Love Claudie, Bella, P.J., Bonnie, Toby, Lucky, Sasha and now Pepper, yes one more to the pile of fur.

I just think you have the most photographic dog I have ever seen... lol I think Miss Maggie would change the spelling and say excuse me Miss Julie I do believe you meant the most PHOTOGRAPHED dog. She is just too sweet. I posted about Scotties today. Just love canines...
Thanks for the smiles Maggie!

Terri Morse

Maggie, you are the most precious thing! You are a vision in pink. You should join us for Pink Saturday! My Molly doesn't like to look at the camera either. In fact, she seems to know the precise moment that the shutter will open and that's when she shuts her eyes. Now, run and tell Mommy you're ready for your closeup! Hugs, Terri

A Romantic Porch

Oh but I think she is just simply PERFEcT! xo rachel

Kathy Charniak

You two are sooooooooo funny! You tickled me - made me laugh in the midst of our snow blizzard. Kathy C in ILLinois

Just curious, Maggie, did Kim ever go blond? I thought you might be asking for a friend. ;)

Kim, I have my pillow ready to mail to you. I have also linked my post today to Daisy Cottage. You can see my pillow heart there. I really love coming to your blog and reading your lovely posts. Maggie is so adorable. Blessings, Marla

These are the posts I love. Gosh I love that dear little face. Maggie is just so sweet. Thanks for sharing her.

I so LOVE that Maggie. We already have a Golden, but I really want a long-haired Dachsund. She looks just beautiful in her Valentine pink.

Miss Maggie did a LOT better than my Bruno. He always turns his head so fast he's just a blur. I have to sneak up on him. :)

How cute! My little Spikey runs when he hears me turn my camera on!

Mabel Tirado

Maggie make my day! So beautiful.

I loved the second to the last one! She is a picture perfect dog!!

Barbara @ Southern Lady's Vintage

Miss Fanny

They say that every dog has her day and I do believe that would be everyday form Miss Maggie!

LOL Maggie your just like my Mitzy. But you DO look cute in that pink scarf.

Mom Wald

I've heard that having a dog is just like having a preschooler. Maggie just proved it! She's also cute and adorable like little munchkin. Lucky you!

She looks so pretty in her new scarf - from any angle!

Mermaid Debbie

A beautiful, smart girl! I love her!

Donna, The Decorated House

Hello Sweet Maggie & Kim ~
Ah, playing hard to get. Looking so spiffy in your little scarf.
Hugs, Donna

What a sweetie pie! I doubt I could get Gershwin or Ella to hold a pose for half that long.

She is perfect, don't let her fool you. Blessings, Janet

Maggie is a doll!

Julie (dog owner and lover-2)

MY Maggie never sits or stands still long enough for any type of picture...she's always on the go and when I DO finally get her to sit...she starts walking toward me once she hears the camera click...I promise you...I don't have nearly enough great pictures of her and that's such a shame b/c she is really a beautiful dog (must come with the name!)...awww...what's a mom to do!! em!!

What a darling post, Kim! She is so sweet. I'm showing her picture to my Beau, {although as a 15 year old lab, his eyesight is failing.} Hope you are having a happy week, sweetie!

Greetings Kim,
I randomly just surfed in this morning. Your web site
is warm, nostalgic and charming reflecting your bungalow I am quite certain. Love your style and ideas --you're as inspirational and creative as Rachel Ashwell herself!
You mentioned that you live in Central do I.
Isn't it wonderful...the land of the green sea, the red sun, and "redder necks"!! I use to live in Indian Rocks Beach back in 1984, and moved about 45 minutes north of there about 14 years ago to Bayonet Point which is steeped with many enchanting vintage shops.
Has anyone ever told you that you resemble Elizabeth Taylor? Hope you're staying warm during our cold front.
Warmest Regards,

Very smart she is......which makes her perfectly perfect.

Awww I'm inspired to take some photos of my miniature pincher now. I really enjoy your blog. thanks :)

Shelly Virtue

I enjoy reading your blog and checking out your vintage finds. Thank you for all you do! <3

Your Maggie is so sweet and I also get the same response with my two kitty kats. Just when you're ready to get the best shot ever, they solomnly turn their heads to look at what....nothing. Thanks for sharing!

I love Maggie! How precious!

What a pretty little girl! :O)

I found your blog today via Angela over at Free Spirit Haven. What a blessing. :O)

Thank You Dear Sis!

Thank you Fifi!

  • "It's people like yourself that make everything beautiful and worthwhile." ~ Fifi

Thank You Ida!

  • Kim I just wanted to thank you again for allowing us into your sweet home! I absolutely loved being there and looking around with you. Your hospitality and sweet spirit make the home even more beautiful! Thanks for reminding me that one day I too will have my "dream come true!" ~ Ida - MOPS Member

Thank You Jane!

  • "I just discovered your blog and am blown away with the comfortable, almost nostalgic feel of it...almost like finding a long-lost friend after many years apart...somehow familiar, but all so exciting and new." ~ Jane

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

  • "What I love best about Daisy Cottage is Kim. I love the way you appreciate every good thing in life and embrace joy in every moment." ~ Rose

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

  • "Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

  • "Your words and thoughts of encouragement help me see myself with value. You are a blessing. Thank you." ~ Tracy

Thank you Karen!

  • "Your humble spirit has not changed through your many posts here in Blogland. You have been blessed with a special gift and I am very thankful you share it with us." ~ Karen

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
