I've spent the past several days at home, finishing up a few writing projects, and dreaming of some new projects for Daisy Cottage. There is SO much that I want to do, like work on the blue office and the back porch and the front porch and the ..... well you get the idea. I feel one of those high-energy stages coming on! Batten down the hatches dear house of mine! Here I come again!
It's been raining here too and a little gloomy, but perfect weather for feathering one's nest, if you know what I mean. And I know that YOU do. :-)
For fun, I decided to hang my aprons that you all have seen a gazillion times on the kitchen hall tree. Oh how I love these little aprons. I love everything about them - their past, their present, their purpose, and most of all - their cuteness. Love, love, love my aprons.
I'm also sprucing up the alcove in the back of our Granny room ...
And because I've been working AND playing, I haven't gotten to that baking that I wanted to do - yet.
So I will share my sweet Lallee cupcake with you instead ...
Because I am nice like THAT.
;-)
Kim
I love to sign in and see your cheery posts and all the bright and charming corners of your home! Can't wait to see the new projects ~ I'm sure they will be the envy. :)
Sarah
I love your aprons too but I really love the hall tree.

Hope all is well on your end.

Think I'll hang out in your Granny room, if you don't mind. Maybe I'll read a few pages of Thorn Birds and rest my mind.

You have an awesome apron collection Kim! Too cute:>) Great photos, and I am looking forward to your new projects. Everything you do is so fun!

I forgot to say, Lallee amkes the cutest things doesn't she? And she is such a sweetheart. SHe was kind enough to make some wonderful crochet book suggestions for my nieces when they were learning to crochet. The best thing is, her cupcakes won't end up on my hips! LOL

Your pictures make me dream of Spring! Which is really kinda sad, because it just snowed again last night. We won't see Spring 'til late April or early May!
Have a great day!

When the weather first got gloomy, I was definitely in a feathering mood, now I am getting as gloomy as the weather!! I'm happy to hear you are motivated and have plans...I can get inspired!
Love your Granny room and aprons. So pretty and happy!

I've been really motivated too, but the weather just isn't cooperating! I want to paint, to clean and organize my garage, but it's too rainy and cold.
I love your post today. Your aprons are so cheery, love them!

Your blog certainly brightened my day today...I've been so lax in catching up...I'm sad to say I may never be able to catch up with all my friends out here in blog-land. I DID however want you to know...just in case you haven't seen my blog (it's been forever since I posted)...but we have our new precious bundle in our arms...as of 1-15-2010...he weighed in at 7lbs. 11 oz and measured 21 inches long. I am smitten...please take a moment to check out my blog...I think you will be smitten, too!
I also read the sweet and heartfelt post from Jack about his adored Tabatha...WOW...I'm still crying over that one...I will keep him and his family in my prayers. What a sweet thing for him to take the time to let you know what an inspiration you were to her...what a blessing that is!!
Blessings...

Hi Kim!
I've also been sprucing up around the house, mainly the outside. By doing small things - like, sweeping the dried-up leaves, planting some vibrant primroses to add color to the garden, makes quite the difference to how the house looks and feels. So have fun tending to your treasure of a home. Hugs and kisses xoxoxox

Oh, Kim, I just read the post about Tabatha and the notes from her hubby. Oh, how sweet that is that he took the time to write you. I know you must feel so blessed to be a small part of her life and inspiration to her. You're such a dear! xoxo See, we never know how we are touching people through blogging. I've found that out too as I hear from readers periodically. ANd how special is that?!

Hi Kim,
Thanks for motivating me. I need to do some cleaning inside the house, so when Spring does get here, I can play outdoors. Oh, yes!!

Hi Kim,
I am loving the images in today's post...those heart-topped knitting needles are precious and I think the yellow and brown apron might be my favorite :)

I love aprons too! I just finished making one this weekend. Vogue released a vintage pattern from 1952 and it is really full skirted. Lots of fun with hearts and pink cupcakes! Thanks for sharing your fun collection! Sherri : )

Yes you are nice Kim and much much more.
So nice how our homes motivate us and give us such enjoyment and comfort. I can see that your cheerful home is just what so many need to get motivated themselves.
Love Daisy Cottage and you,

It's very chilly here in Kentucky. I am going attempt to make my first real homemade soup tomorrow.
I love, love old aprons too. My next door neighbor was tossing out a shiny black coat rack and I took it. It holds my kitchen aprons. I also have some frilly ones in the bedroom and some random ones in the laundry room.
I have had a lot of redoing energy. I was up late last night working in a fireplace face plate I found. They just wanted rid of it and I was happy to take it off their hands. I'm supposed to be hanging a shower curtain now but here I am at Daisy Cottage :).

Hi Kim,
What's with our gloomy days here in Sunny FL?...that's fine, now I don't have to water any of my ferns or flowers!
Love seeing all your nice aprons.

What a nice way to spend a rainy day! I love the sweet little cupcake and the hearts on the knitting needles. I'm a knitter and I would love to know where you found them?
Posted by: Julie | February 03, 2010 at 09:32 AM
Oh yes, these gloomy, damp days make me so anxious for Spring flowers and greenery. I've just had a couple old, scraggly trees taken out and the yard looks so much neater -- moved a few planters around and planned what plants I need to buy. And then there's the family room, which right now is rather blah -- needs some paint -- I'm thinking of a lovely soft robin's-egg blue -- my favorite color.
Have a happy day!!!

Hi Kim,
Oh my gracious - how fun to see all of your adorable aprons
hanging together. I loved seeing each one separately - but together they look like happy friends all together enjoying the cleaning day in Daisy Cottage. LOL - Kim you have inspired me to put on my vintage apron and start my Spring cleaning early.
Have a lovely day.
Blessings,

I adore your aprons! Especially the print with the big roses! What is it with aprons that tug on my heart strings? At my grandma's house, she had aprons for me and my sister to wear while we cooked! That must be it! The apron I wear now was made by my oldest daughter when she was in home~ec, 3 years ago. It's full of little tinkerbells, and it's so dear to me! Blessings ~ Margie

Kim, I love aprons too. A few months before I was born my great grandmother on my father's side died, but before she did, she had a dream that I would be a girl and made me the cutest little apron. Due to so many problems and so much moving in my life, I have sadly lost it, but it has left me with a love for aprons.

I love Lallee! Such a sweetheart she is. Kim, we come here to see these little pieces of your life. It doesn't matter how many times we see them, they are always a new feast for the eyes. Never stop showing us these corners and such. It makes us feel like we're there visiting.

Gazing upon the beauty of your aprons and books and cupcake (thank you ~ it's delish) I see the cookbook that I was given at my wedding. Better Homes and Garden's plaid book of wonderful recipes has been in my kitchen for 40 years and as we celebrate our anniversary on February 14th (sentimental us), the pages full of splatters of batter and what-not, still is where I go to find just the right comfort food. I'm not that old am I? Ah, sweet memories.

Kim, I'm in a feathering mood myself! Today I bought the cutest little china closet for only $30.00 from a great second hand furniture store . I can't wait to get out my trusty can of bright red paint and bring it back to life. With spring around the corner there is so much to do. Who cares about the cold, outside. If I keep the vision of spring in sight, and whistle while I work, I will be all ready when the robbins are chirping outside my kitchen window. I, like you, just love my treasures. And I love your blog. You put me in a good mode everytime I visit.
Love,
Kate

I love the aprons on the hall tree. What a great idea. Hmm...where can I display all those vintage linens? That cupcake is adorable. I just finished up another project that I'll probably share on Pink Saturday. I made these cute little door pillows. They're crazy patchwork with coordinating pink and yellow fabrics. I hand embroidered over the seams in a contrasting floss, put a ruffle around the outside, and embellished them with fabric flowers and leaves. Oh, and did I forget? They're heart-shaped! I'd better plan another project, quick...on Friday we're going to be slammed with about 18 inches of snow. It's supposed to continue all day Saturday. According to the weather service, our little corner of the world will be right at the heart of it! It's a good thing I have a nice, strong 18-year-old son to dig us out! Maybe I should bake him a pie in advance. Hope your weekend is warmer and thanks for being such an inspiration to me. Hugs, Terri

Kim, your apron collection looks wonderful on the hall tree. Is that a new piece? Well my friend, whatever you decide to do to Daisy Cottage will be just wonderful. Changing things up a bit gives new life to our homes. Don't you think?
I LOVE the cupcake....infact, so much that I have one JUST LIKE YOURS! Laura's confections are perfectly sweet....and not damaging to the waistline either.
