Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Oh, you are so mean, Kim!!! I totally enjoy your blog~

Kathleen Grace

And then you have to hold your stomach and chant "why did I eat that? why did I eat that?"...oh wait, that's me. LOL. Enjoy your donuts Kim, if I get started I'll be chanting, and it isn't pretty.

Linda

Don't I know it! Yesterday my friend texted me saying the "hot" sign was on a Krispy Kreme. I texted back that it was against the law not to stop at Krispy Kreme if the "hot" sign was on. So she stopped and then brought me 2 dozen hot donuts! Pure Heaven!

Blessings

Linda

Treasia

Now that's just a cruel awful trick to pull on us this early in the morning. LOL. I'll take one of each please, as well as some morning coffee to go along with them. Now, when can I expect Fed Ex to pull up?

Laura @ Sahm I Am

Do I get my coffe in a red mug? Because, then I will not be able to say no to the coffee, and maybe a couple donuts too, cause they're smallish... Kim, maybe you are not a good influence!

Anna

awww.. i'd love to eat one :) they look absolutely delicous :) Have a nice day Kim!

ClassiclyAmber

Ah!! But I'm trying to wean myself off of processed sugar!!
I KNEW I shouldn't have opened this post!!!
=-)

Sheila

Thanks, Kim! Looks wonderful! I would gladly join you, but sugar is now forbidden me... Sigh... by order of the great and mighty Lois, my naturopath. She loves me, though, and is responsible for making sure I live to be a ripe old age. Just wish she could do something for wrinkles. ;-) Though come to thinkm of it, she has very few. Hmmm... LOL! Suffice it to say, I've become a very boring person.

XO,

Sheila :-)

Brenda Justabedofroses.blogspot.com

I had that problem with homemade cookies over the weekend...couldn't help it!

Terri

This is hilarious because I'm sitting here reading the "donut" blog eating my Jenny Craig breakfast reminding myself nothing tastes as good as thin feels! But sometimes you just need a donut, I understand.

dotsie

Your superb photography could cause you to be hired by the donut people. Their sales would sky rocket! For myself, I'm moving away from your blog because that picture is so real you can almost taste them. :-) Have a good day. BTW, yesterday's story sure went all over the map. I think comments can come in at the same time which may be why it got so disconnected. But sure fun.

Lisa

Oh My! I would, but I just had some French Toast....and coffee! But maybe next time! Thanks for offering!

C. Dianne Zweig

Thanks for visiting my blog .....Im to feel the same way as you do about bagels and cream cheese...new book out by Susan Love called "Live A Little' is all about the Donut Philosphy of Heaalthy living......sometimes you just need a donut!

Come by again....Dianne

C. Dianne Zweig

I am not sure where my last comment went...so I will do it again...thanks for stopping by my blog....I feel the same way about bagels and cream cheese....a new book out by Susan Love called "Live a Little" agrees with the donut philosophy of life...sometimes you just need a donut! By the way is it donut or "doughnut" ? Stop by again....Dianne

P.S. if my first comment shows up... Please keep this one instead.

Daisy Cottage

Dear Dianne,

I think I will keep both because I LOVE having you here twice. ;-)

(((hugs)))

Thanks! This virtual donut tasting is delightful. And, yes, I could definitely eat them all as well.

Shine

Dena

Morning Kim,

I actually picked up a dozen last night for my guys to have this morning. Not for me of course...well, there was that one teensy buttermilk one :)

Susan Freeman

Bentley is at the door and wants to come in... I'm sure he suspects some donut eating going on. "Hi Bentley, Mama has some apple chunks for you. " There, that should distract him.

Miss Jean

Plain cake doughnuts and coffee! Nectar of the Gods!

marina mott

One donut and a duble coffe, please!!!
So beautiful and delicious!!

Kerri

Thank you for breakfast, Kim! And since I can't eat donuts, virtual ones are the best! Although I have convinced myself the only reason they look so good is because of your great photography and really they do not look that yummy in person! :)

Have a great day!
Kerri

JEANETTE

MMmmm... that was so tasty. Don't know what it is about these sugary little guys...just makes you happy and sweet allover. I am on the 3rd cup of coffee :) Have the best day.
Jeanette

Kimberly Padilla

Thank you so much. I will have to pass though. Bad for my asthma - trying to raw food. You are so kind though. :) Have a wonderful day!!!

Rachel

Krispy Kreme...

Oh my. I could just cry.

Sniffle.

None of those near here. Not one. I WANNA HOT DOZEN NOW!!!! insert a really sad, misplaced GRITS hissy fit here (got some maple frosted? Please? Pretty please???)

Pam R

I'll take a crumb donut....ok...I'll take two! Hot tea for me, please.

Nancy Hutson Maisenbach

For us these donuts don't have calories or fat or sugar. They are just a feast for our eyes just like everyday at Dear Daisy Cottage. So yes Kim, I believe will have a powdered doughnut and coffee.
Thank you,
Nancy M.

Darlene

Thank you for the donut. They truly look good enough to take right out of your beautiful photo of them. What a nice treat in the world of imagination.
Darlene

Joan

Just this morning I had to have a donut too. We have a new donut shop called the Fractured Prune. They are cake donuts made fresh in front of you. Then toppings of your choice are added. Oh they can be decadent, but if you want it plain, low cal,and low fat too. Of course I had to try the Reese one which of course has peanut butter. Yummmmm!

Donna at Mourning Dove Cottage

Yum, they look so good. And I just made myself a cup of coffee!

Vicki B

Thank you - love your site - just finished reading Blogging for Bliss and your blog was mentioned. Had to come take a peek! I'll be back soon!

RockerJewlz

Grrrrr, I have been craving lovely, dense donuts just like these....but have been denying myself of them! Grrrrrrrr...okay, ONE virtual donut won't harm me. In that case, thank you, hee hee.

Mary Lou

Ooh, so can I!! When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I just craved donuts, and my doctor used to kid me about it. To this day, I just can't pass up donuts.

Marfa (crafting marfa)

I can't have just donut, I must have as many as possible. I simple LOVE donuts. Your blog is just as sweet as the donuts though, which is why I keep coming back ;-D

Danielle

I posted about cupcakes today! It must be this cold/wet Florida weather...perhaps I will do donuts and coffee tomorrow...

Debbie from Texas

I will just take one donut!! I am such a ggood girl. Ha!Ha! Yea, Right! I will take three....when no one is looking!:))

Brenda Kula

Haven't had a donut in ages. Would love to have one of those and a cup of coffee with you.
Brenda

Annie

Oh Yeah! While driving home from a job today, my best friend and I got out the GPS to find a Krispy Kream donut shop. Failed.
I can SMELL that pic!

Fay Marie Torzsok

Ha! Ha! Talking about donuts

Where did I hear this? ..... The healthiest part of a donut is the middle but unfortunately, you have to eat it to get there. :0)

Fay Marie

jan

Well, thank you ... I'll have that one on the left ... oh probably need a napkin so the powder sugar doesn't get all over the place. Thought I'd pop by and say how much I enjoyed your write up in "Blogging for Bliss." Your pictures are beautiful. Think I'll take one more donut (brought my own coffee) and browse around for a while. Thanks again ~jan

Barbara Anne

Are they all gone yet????

A few years ago, after living for too many years where there were no Krispy Kreme donuts, I amost wrecked my mother's car pulling into a shop with a Krispy Kreme sign. It was bliss. I now live where there are Krispy Kremes at the grocery. More bliss!

Cheerss!

pogonip@ meadowsweet cottage

My parents owned a donut shop--I used to take day-old donuts back to my college dorm (like about seven dozen of them!) after a visit home. Can you say "popular'?!

I can still taste those fabulous thirty years later. KK's are soooo easy for me to resist--there simply is no comparison. I think you've fired up my resolution to try and re-create our "Flaky Cream" donuts someday soon!

Karen

This is so timely because last week I drove 20 minutes out of my way, I was so craving a Krispy Kreme! I don't know what came over me (blush.

Queenie

Thanks for the donuts and coffee Kim, though I know it's not what I should be eating before retiring for the night! LOL! They were delish.
I hope that it was okay that I added to the story down below...I am not much of a writter, but I couldn't resist the chance to add to it...I'm hoping that the ending will turn out like I want it to. I'll be checking back to see how it ends. Thanks for the fun!
Big Hugs,
Queenie

Lauree

Awwwww.... I live in the wrong country.... all this talk about Krispy Kremes is makeing me covet..... I will not covet, I will not covet..... xx

Mermaid Debbie

Oh, yum. Doughnuts are my very favorite. For a girl who allergic to egg whites, that can often mean "no doughnuts." For a girl who has a sugar and wheat issue, that can also mean "no doughnuts." But, you are right... sometimes you just have to have one, so about once a year I do! And then I have some coffee and then another one because I love them so much! Today, I will take you up on your offer and have one of yours and it will feel like twice a year1 Thank you.

Ayanna

Didn't you think of creating a journal based on your blog (many people already do so - have a look at their experience at http://www.pdfqueen.com the search engine on pdf periodical)? In comparison with the blog, journal is more convenient to read :)

  • "I just discovered your blog and am blown away with the comfortable, almost nostalgic feel of it...almost like finding a long-lost friend after many years apart...somehow familiar, but all so exciting and new." ~ Jane

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

  • "What I love best about Daisy Cottage is Kim. I love the way you appreciate every good thing in life and embrace joy in every moment." ~ Rose

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

  • "Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

  • "Your words and thoughts of encouragement help me see myself with value. You are a blessing. Thank you." ~ Tracy

Thank you Karen!

  • "Your humble spirit has not changed through your many posts here in Blogland. You have been blessed with a special gift and I am very thankful you share it with us." ~ Karen

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
