Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Every time I see that adorable doxie face and those fluffy ears and big brown eyes, I just wish I could hug her!! I wouldn't be able to resist. I'd just have to let her stay. I'd probably stay there with her!

I don't blame her for staying on that pretty yellow chenille blankie. Chenille is my favourite in any color Kim. I can't get enough of them.
Hard to find around here. I'm hoping when I go South that I will find some treasures... yeah.
Stay warm. I heard it's cold out there. It's cold here too Magie. We have another fur baby BTW..not a little one Magie, a big one this time.
Come and see the "King".
Love Claudie

Looks like you're doing great with the new camera. One thing you might want to set is your focal points...I also had to set mine for my eyesight. Just something that you have to dig into your manual for...but it helps alot!!
I'm a Canon 20D user. Wanna upgrade bad...but will have to come later. Once you play with yours enough, it will become like a second limb to you. Can't leave home without it!!!

Oh my gosh I couldn't bear to ask that SWEET LITTLE THING to get off the bed. She's so adorable!

Maggie is so sweet. I can understand she wanted to stay in bed. Me too :)

Great photos Kim!
Tell Maggie that Nugget and Dylan suggest she stay UNDER the blankets! It's warmer there and maybe then Mommy won't find you...

Rachel from A Cupcake For Moose

Aww such a good Maggie. Love her brown against the yellow and green. Your pictures are great!

I know just how you feel Maggie. But if your mommy promises it will warm up I guess I'll believe her too. It's been way too cold for us Florida girls. Happy sunny day!

The "focused" Maggie picture is absolutely stunning. It took my breath away at first (and second)sight.

Mary Lou

Kim, your home always looks so happy! My cats could probably empathize with Miss Maggie. They spend our cold days curled up on my daughter's bed in the front bedroom - it gets all the best sun.

Hi Kim!

Awwww, that is too cute! I'm right there with her, lol! In NY it's almost too cold and staying in bed where the sun hits sounds fabulous! :) Hope you had a wonderful Holiday season sweetie! And thanks for stopping in , I so adore coming to your cottage for a visit! It's sunny here in your blog and warms my day!

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead too!

Love, Cynthia

Oh those little Doxie looks are so familiar - I see them on Joey's face often! Please, please don't make me . . .! Maggie is such a sweetie. Hope she's warming up a bit to come out of her hiding place and enjoy the sunshine again. ~Adrienne~

How sweet!I'm not feeling too sorry for Maggie. Looks like she lives a pretty good life. Have a good day and enjoy the sunshine.

Grumpy she could never be! Glad your weather is warming up some. We are having normal temps again in Arkansas, 40's for days and 20's at night. That 0 stuff is for the Canadians!

Bobbie Lynn

She is ao adorable. Love her and thank you for sharing her with us.

So sweet. That Maggie is adorable! I hope it warms up soon so she can enjoy going out chasing lizards!

D. Zellner

Oh Maggie, How smart you are...why move when you are so happy and content, (and warm). The sun shining in looks so inviting..haven't seen much of that this month here in Wisconsin. Kim, I love your colors warm and full of life. The black heart pillow...I love it! Did you make it or was it one of your lucky finds? You always share such neat ideas, it's so much fun knowing you are just a click away. Enjoy the day!

Poor Maggie I know how she must feel its been so cold here I don't want to get out of bed and go outside. My little Paisley's back legs just shake every time she is made to go out and do her thing!

Good morning Kim :)

Poor Miss Maggie... Bear feels her pain. He's shorter than the 6 inch snow outside! Good thing he has a daddy that is wrapped around his little paw and digs out a spot for him ;)

I'm so sorry you missed your snow! If I could, I would make it happen again so that you could see it fall.

Give Maggie a warm hug from me :)

love you,

PS I like my eggs over medium ;)

So cute! Did you finally get snow, or just cool weather? It is almost above freezin here in my corner of the world. It will be about 30 deg. Farenheit today. Too warm, I am looking forward to the colder weather again. Hugs, Cindy S.

This is such a precious post and so is your blog...I'm so glad I found your blog through Bella Dreams Blog. It's been a pleasure to visit here...I'll be definately be back again...

Daisy Cottage

ahhhhh, thank you SO much Queenie!!!!

You didn't really make her get down did you? My poor babies are waaay beyond tired of the cold weather....they have been rebelling. *sigh* Gotta love em :o)

What a great post. You are doing great with your new camera and tell a wonderful story of the cold and your precious Maggie.

I guess my girl is glad she gets to sleep on the bed :) But when it is really cold, there is a vent right under the bed and it blows the heat up to the bottom of the bed, and then comes back down. So she goes and lays on the floor right next to the vent so she can feel the heat, but not get too hot. You can't say dogs aren't smart! :)

Oh. That Miss Maggie is so stinkin cute! I know from personal experience that doxie's hate the cold! Brrrrrr! She needs a little coat-one that has no armholes (her short little legs would fall out of the armholes), something with a little strap that goes around the belly. She'd be so cute in a little coat!

I know exactly how Maggie feels. Baggins made me get up at 5:30 this morning and let him out. Perhaps Maggie could give him some bed lessons ;-)

Nancy Omachi cute! I love pictures of pets curled up comfy on a bed...hugs!

Hi sweet Kim, poor Maggie, my dogs know how she feels they want to stay curled up in bed for as long as possible and I don't blame them I know how they feel (; Thanks for leaving me your sweet comment, that meant so much and I'm back to my blogging finally! Try to stay warm and cozy.

I don't blame Maggie one bit for wanting to stay in bed! I am in love with the last picture-the mix of black and white with a touch of red! Can you tell us if you made the lampshade and pillow? And the floral linen hung on the back of the chair is very sweet too!

Enjoy your day!

Renee Lange

She is just so precious! The picture of your pretty chair and walls makes the grey winter of Michigan a bit brighter!

Love your Maggie girl to pieces! us some more pics of her awesomely cute brother too. I loved the few you posted in December!!!!!!!! (wondering if he is aussy shepherd, or maybe part sheepdog....!)
:-) Enjoyed my visit.

SO cute. I found myself giggling loudly when I read that. So so cute.

sweet cottage dreams

Adorable.... sweet....
...and Maggie, I know the feeling...
getting out of bed in the morning
isn't always easy because it is
warm...and cozy....and just so relaxing.

Poor Maggie! First you broke the news to her that she couldn't go blond, then it's too cold for her outside. She's had a rough couple of weeks! Remind her that Spring is right around the corner!

Corinna Lyons-Revello

She is such a DOLL. How dare you make her get down, poor girl! What a mean mommy :)

Nancy Hutson Maisenbach

Maggie and Kim, I am so glad you have each other and was made in heaven.
Again, great photos.

Kimberly Ryan Art

What a sweetie pie, my cats love to sleep in , so I never seem to get the bed made till 3 in the afternoon lol I don't have the heart to shoo them off, they look so happy and warm ! Have a lovely week Kim, xoxo Kim :)

Oh Kim, how I love Maggie & you too. You make my days up here in cold ILLinois warmer. Took my cocker, Annie for a walk today- first day we have seen 33 degrees in awhile. I love your chenille spread in yellow - it is so sunny and cheerful. Thank you again for your blog - it adds sunshine to my day. Kathy in ILLinois brrrrrrrrrrrr

I think Maggie had a great idea! It's been so cold here, it's tempting to stay under the blankets.

Oh yes, can we please see her brother too?

Amy in Texas

We can so relate except our doxie is male and we call him Schatzie. Thanks for the smiles!

melissa @ the inspired room

Oh how I love Miss Maggie. :-)

You both are so precious!! I love Maggie's adventures, thanks for the smile!

Sheri DeMate

What a great blog post today! Little Jimmie Dean has to lay on a heating pad all day or he freezes! Talk about spoiled. That's what they're for, right?

Donna, The Decorated House

Hello Sweet Kim & Maggie (& Marley, too)
It's been hard to keep warm hasn't it?
Tomorrow, more sunshine! Yippeeeee
Hugs, Donna

Your home and your puppy is precious!!!!

OH. MY. Too much cute!

PS: You are doing great with your camera!

What a doll, our puppy "Charlie" loves to be in our bed. Hard to say no. Hugs, Diane

Maggie is just so adorable!! It has been really freezing here in Ohio and my little Yorkie girl, Chloe wants to stay in bed all snuggled in the covers too!!

Kate Reddan

Hi Kim,
Maggie is adorable!!! I couldn't resist her if I were there in Florida with you. Here in Long Beach NY it is cold and windy but my Chewy is used to that and doesn't care. He is a snow lover and he wants to get his long walk in no matter what the weather is. He would love your little bundle of joy.

Mabel Tirado

Maggie, gorgeous girl!

Laura Lee

I seriously think a children's book starring Maggie would be very well received, indeed!

Susie Q

The bed is so pretty and cozy I don;t blame Maggie for staying! She is a to you both!

  • "I just discovered your blog and am blown away with the comfortable, almost nostalgic feel of it...almost like finding a long-lost friend after many years apart...somehow familiar, but all so exciting and new." ~ Jane

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

  • "What I love best about Daisy Cottage is Kim. I love the way you appreciate every good thing in life and embrace joy in every moment." ~ Rose

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

  • "Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

  • "Your words and thoughts of encouragement help me see myself with value. You are a blessing. Thank you." ~ Tracy

Thank you Karen!

  • "Your humble spirit has not changed through your many posts here in Blogland. You have been blessed with a special gift and I am very thankful you share it with us." ~ Karen

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
