Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

I really need to stop by Vintage one day!!

I must come up to Lakeland someday Kim. I think that my favorite thing is the "park your brooms here"! P.S.....the new car show is coming to Miami in a couple weeks and hubby always makes me go along~yawn! ~xoxo~

Brenda Kula

I spied some real treasures there, Kim!

Thanks for the fun shopping trip...I believe I made those embroidered yellow bird pillows in the 60s or was it 70s?? They look very familiar. Certainly I am not old enough to have made something that is showing up in a store called Vintage, lol!

Janet @ Housepeepers

Daisy Cottage

Dear Jeanette,

You just might! ;-)

I would love to run into YOU.

Did you purchase anything? Like maybe the chair with the yellow flowers you kept going back to? You know it would look right at home in Daisy Cottage! I see so many things to take home when I am shopping and I know I can't have them all. Thanks for taking us with you.
Congratulations Debbie!

Whew! It is always so fun to check out some over the top decorating and see a place with so much eye candy. I love the chair with the toile seat and black wreath, yum! How can you walk in there and not buy the store?

Susan Ramey Cleveland

Wow! That's all--just WOW!

I want that and that oh and maybe that! What a wonderful shop they have so many great finds I just wish it was in my town!!!!

Kimberly Padilla

Hi Kim,

That is an extraordinary store. The whole time I was looking through the pictures, I was wishing that NY had a store like that, but I do not know of one, so it is very comforting to know that Angie, of Vintage, will ship anywhere. Thanks so much for sharing your shopping trip with you, and I agree - this is more fun than cars!

Catherine Randall

Such beautiful photos, I am inspired. Thanks!

My kind of a place Kim!
I could spend all day there.
Looks like a place here that I sell my crowns to.
Have a great day!

Not exactly, if it was a Vintage Antique car show. Woot. The embroidered pillow is gorgeous - now that's Embroidery the way it should be. I love the cobwebby looking chandelier. This vintage shop would get me into a lot of trouble if it were closer, whew! Thanks for the pictures, love going with you, wherever you go. Blessings, Janet

Carol @ Old Glory Cottage

Speaking of cars, do you still own Ethel! I think of that car often. LOL

A Romantic Porch

KIM!!! I'm jumping up and down! Happy! Happy! Happy!

Have you ever felt like you were a little girl running down the street as hard as you could chasing the car in front of you with all your family inside. The wind was ruffling the curls back behind your ears. Your feet were slipping in the stray pieces of gravel and just as you thought you might grab the bumper and hang on for all you're worth, you fall and the car speeds away, out of site, you've been left in the dust. Your chest burns as you try to take in more air and in disbelief as tears trace a line through the dust on your cheeks, you pound the pavement with your childsize fists. There you lie in the street all alone.

Somewhat dramatic, I know!

What does all of this have to do with shopping at Vintage you may ask? Well, I bet you already know! Right?

It was so much fun to shop with you today and I want to let you know how much I enjoyed it.

And by the way, I saw the perfect chair for your granny room in Vintage as we shopped!

Have a wonderful beautiful glorious day! xo rachel

Hi Kim! Thank you for sharing all those pictures! Could you tell me the email address in that last picture? I think I'm missing one letter. Please come & visit my blog, I'm doing a giveaway! Hugs, Leslie

Good morning Kim :)

I love it when you take us to Vintage! The whole store is brimming with eye candy and I love how it's decorated for Fall. I hope that I get to see it in person one day and meet you too. Wouldn't that be fun? :)

Mary Lou

I just love places like this! So much stuff! and so many ideas to get! You know, I'm hoping to get down to FL after the first of the year to visit my daughter, and maybe I can talk her into making the drive to do some serious browsing at Vintage. That would be great mother-daughter time!
Thanks for taking us along!
Mary Lou

Thanks for sharing the pics. I really must get downtown more often. I think I saw something in the pictures I need!! I live in eastern Lakeland. Enjoy your blog.

Brook Sellers

kim, Thank you for the shopping trip. I am a pansey person and the pillow certainly had great work to show their brightness. Good thing I wasn't closer as there was much to buy and my purse would be empty and my car full. I realize the time to photo and the time to post, thanks again, stop by my new blog as well, need to put Oct writings in both, time, time??? Blessings, Brook

Congratulations to the winner. I know she is going to enjoy the goodies.

Kim, I love when you take us shopping with you, and Vintage is my favorite place to go.

I am TRIPLE thrilled to have won this great giveaway! When I read that I was the winner, I was so excited I started squealing and laughing and husband, who was on the other side of the house, thought I had lost my mind! I had to run in and explain everything to him about Kim and the blog and the Southern Lady giveaway, talking so fast I was tripping over myself. I just want to thank you again, Kim, for your thoughtfulness and for sharing your home and your life with us. You have such a sweet spirit, and it shows in everything you do. Thanks to everybody who congratulated me on being the winner, that was fun to see too! Warm hugs to you all, ~Debbie

Sweet Cottage Dreams

I just LOVE Vintage! Angie sure has her adorable shop packed with fun stuff! Why is it so unfair that her shop is clear across on the other side of the country? I just want to come over and shop!!!!!!! But, I'll just be satisfied with your wonderful photos.

Have a sweet day,

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
