It is a peaceful Sunday afternoon. Music is softly playing, candles are burning, and dinner will go in the oven soon. But as I puttered about earlier today I took a few photos of this and that - a potpourri, if you will, of little things ...
Now please don't think that I've lost my mind with my "new" granny sofa for the granny room! (like my sis and my daughter and my niece think I have) It is SO faded, I know, but perfectly so - to me - AND VERY VERY comfy and although faded it is in excellent shape! I am determined to make it work! And of course, I can always slipcover it, right?
I mean, it cost $10 at a yard sale. I want to be sure to get my money's worth!
;-)
Well cute birdies - I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday! See you next week!!
Love,
Kim
What a sweet post. I love the little stick furniture and the little birds.

Your blog (and home) are always such a pleasure to visit!

Hi, Kim, Very peaceful, warm post. It's wonderful the way you put everything together so well. By the way, I read your story in the last Romantic Country. Just seems like your among friends in that magazine, you, Fifi, Janet.

I like your "Granny" sofa, Kim! I think it was an absolute steal. Love all of the pretties in your post, too.

Oh Kim, I've been waiting to the new sofa! Love this one! The color, the pattern and especially the scalloped edge at the bottom!
It's so YOU! Great deal too!
Posted by: kathi | October 04, 2009 at 03:51 PM
Thank you everyone!
Kathi, it had a plain navy blue straight edge of fabric under the scallop and I just cut it off! So I'm so glad you like the "new" edge.

The birdies are so cute! Your sofa looks like the kind where you can grab a good book, a cup of tea, and snuggle under an afghan! Now that's what I call a good Sunday afternoon for fall and winter.

I think folks will come to love your sofa once they get to know it better. Nothing beats a comfy sofa - they just need to know how comfy it is. I've been wondering if you found something.
Thanks for all the pictures. It is always a joy to peek into Daisy Cottage.

I love your new granny sofa Kim! And that's one of the many reasons that I love your home. It's not furnished in ultra-expensive furniture. Each piece is picked out with love, and cherished!

Dear Kim: Amazing! Your new granny sofa looks very Parisian to me with an almost toile effect!
I think I love it very much!

Hi Kim,
I love your new/old granny couch. The blue gray color of the fabric is really nice and very calming and it does look comfy. But really don't you think your over spent a bit (wink) what a great find.
I spied some some wonderful crocheted goodies on your couch, I love all home made things.
Enjoy your day,

Just the opposite, Kim, I don't think that is a granny sofa at all, that is magnificent!! Ooh, it would be beautiful in a shabby chic colored room too....Just day dreaming about how it would look in MY house! I'm jealous of it. But then, I am a granny.

Hi Kim,
Such beautiful birds, and you always stage everything perfectly. Not too staged, cozy and inviting. Have you written a book yet? I was in the book shop the other night and I thought so many people now are shopping in Vintage, second-time-around and consignment. You have always been so inspirational.
Have a great night, I love visiting your lovely blog. I feel like I just had a cuppa over a neighbor's house.

I am drooling over your home, Kim, and your use of color. Why, oh, why am I so afraid of color? Your sofa is just perfect as are the paintings that hang on the wall behind it... And could anything be more cottagey than all your sweet little birdie friends? Oh my gosh, I just love it all!... Donna

The blue fabric with the daisies... I am 100% certain that once upon a time I had something made of that. Now don't laugh, I think it may have been a dress.. my home ec sewing project. I'm seeing myself walking down the "runway" on the auditorium stage...
Mercy, now I'm laughing... it's ok if you do too :-)
Wonderful day,
