Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

The Decorated House

Thank you Yvonne! and Sweet Kim for sharing such a charming cottage. There are many homes around you that are beautiful, and it's impossible not to wonder what they look like inside. Is anyone as talented as Kim at loving their home? Yvonne certainly has put her own personal stamp on hers as well!

GASP! It's so beautiful, Kim. You and Yvonne are definitely kindred spirits!

I'm in love... when can I move in?

Karen B

My goodness! Her house is so cozy and beautiful! You can tell she really loves it and loves making it homey! I always love red in a home, though. There are so many details to take in that I'm going to have to check it out again.

Thanks for sharing,
Karen B.

Carol @ Old Glory Cottage

Oh my goodness! Loveliness at every turn! I can see why you like Yvonne's home, because you both share a love for color and decorating! My only question is: How do Maggie and Ava get along? Are they BFFs?
P.S. Can you talk Yvonne into starting a blog?!

Daisy Cottage

Please ask Yvonne if I can move in with her! I love her decorating style, it is so warm and inviting. Gorgeous!

Thanks for sharing

Love it! Thanks so much. I share her love of color, especially black, yellow and red, so I could move in tomorrow!

Thanks to you both for sharing. Could we see more of her home?

Terri Morse

I love Yvonne's home! It feels so warm and welcoming. I couldn't help but notice all those beautiful handpainted trays. The red one in the kitchen is my favorite. I'd love to see more of her home and your friends' homes. You all have such a gift for creating an inviting space. It's funny, Kim. When I was younger, I longed for a big new home. Now, thirty years later, I'm looking forward to my son graduating from high school this year so we can sell that big house we waited so long for. I love the mountains of Pennsyvania, and my husband and I are talking about making a move. I already put in my request: a nice old farmhouse or bungalow with a wrap-around porch! I love things with a history. Thanks again for brightening my day and take good care of yourself.

Thank you Kim and Thank you Yvonne!
I feel like a just went on a mini vacation, thank you for sharing your beautiful nest with me.

Feels just like home. Makes me really miss my little bungalow in Sanford too. Thanks so much for sharing Yvonne's home with us! It is scrumpdelilicious!

What sweet place. It's easy to see why you and Yvonne are friends. I think you can tell a lot about someone by the house they live in. I love Yvonne's creative use of color and acessories...layers and layers of perfectly appointed vintage goodies!
thanks for the tour and the inspiration.

Julia @ Drawn to the Sea

I'd be on her doorstep looking for iced tea & lemon cookies every day or so.

I long for a cottage so badly. And I want Yvonne's painted floors... (sigh)

Julia @ Drawn to the Sea

And please thank Yvonne for sharing. And yes, please do share more homes.

Devilish Southern Belle

I think I'm as envious of Yvonne's place as I am yours!

oh thank you so much..what a lovely sight..Yvonne's home is so fresh, charming and to see your many friends' homes..take care..

I loved the fabric that Yvonne used in her kitchen windows, lampshade, and towel. Its the Waverly Norfolk Rose collection and I have it everywhere in my home! :) I also loved the little touch of folded hankies in glasses, and the YO-YO quilts thrown about...I have gotta learn how to make those! simply gracious home!

Brenda Kula

Kim, is there some sort of decorating stimulant in the water around there, ya think? Cause I've seen your lovely sister's house down the street. And now I've seen this wonderfully talented woman's house. And I sure know yours. I'm thinking there must be something phenomenal in the water!

Daisy Cottage

Brenda, come on down girl - YOU would fit right in!!!

I wish ALL of you lived right around the corner too.

Nancy Hutson Maisenbach

What a great HOME! I love the fact that she decorated with a lot of antiques and vintage items rather than newer items. I am going to come back for another look when I have more time. Thank you dearest Kim, for the look into this home. And yes, please feature more of your friends homes, if they don't mind us snooping around their private domains, that is. Hugs, Cindy S.

Hello Kim - Lovin' Yvonne's beautiful home! Thank you for sharing these gorgeous photos with us.

Sometimes when I read your blog, it's like browsing through a beautiful magazine. That's actually one of my favorite things. It's so relaxing and inspiring.

In fact - I'm now inspired to clean up and decorate my own house. I've lived in my home for about 4 years and I have yet to do any decorating. When you mentioned how much love Yvonne puts into her home, it made me realize that I should be doing the same.

I'm a country girl at heart, but also love the cottage feel and am trying to figure out how to mix it all together. And I love the color painting my kitchen cabinets red. It sure makes my white water pitcher collection stand out.

Jolie Anne

Hi Kim,

I love the house tours you have posted and written about with fabulous photos! I loved your sister's home tour, also. I just found out you live in Lakeland...did Rhoda say that?
Anyway I live in Martin County, Fl (near Palm Beach County, FL)in a light pink "cottage!" It was pink when I moved in and we have kept painting it that shade.
I call it a "cottage" but it is actually a larger home that you cannot see since it is larger in the back. I love your style of home and your blog has certainly been one of my best finds in blog-land! I love Miss Maggie and her photos are so sweet. I think you should do a book on Maggie and Marley! I would buy it as I am a dog lover (We have 5 dogs, 2 being puppies!) Please consider! Almost forgot to include the fact that we have 3 sons; 2 teensagers!
But this house is perfect for us! Please keep finding homes for us to tour! You write one of my favorite blogs!
Thanks, JolieAnne

Tracie~My Petite Maison

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
