Now that I've spent the weekend cleaning and painting my dollhouse, I am happy to report that it is all ready for my dollhouse family to move in! Yay!
Oh, wait - I don't have a dollhouse family!
;-)
Well, I MUST adopt one!
Anywho - as you can see, I decided to paint the exterior of my dollhouse in very familiar colors ...
And while I haven't painted or wallpapered the inside of the house - yet - everything is spic & span ready for the dollhouse family-to-be!
See the red frame on the mantel?
That's a refrigerator magnet!
I painted most of the dollhouse furniture that I've been collecting for the past couple of years. I used the same paints that I use on my real furniture. I've found these pieces at Goodwill, yard sales, and thrift shops. All of them were VERY inexpensive. The adorable vintage chairs and love seats are Ebay finds, as was the dollhouse itself.
And a dingy brass hat rack got a coat of paint too - in red, of course! ;-)
Now, hopefully the dollhouse family won't mind eating out for awhile, until I can find a stove, a sink, and a refrigerator! At least they will have a place to eat and a place to write their shopping list!

And I also hope that the family doesn't mind that there is no bathroom yet either. ;-) Maybe the cozy bedroom will help to make up for it!

By the way, hankies make lovely coverlets - don't you think?
There may not be a bathroom, or a working kitchen, or window panes, or curtains, but there ARE daisies ...
And cozy chairs ...
I hope the family is VERY happy spending their days AND nights here.
I know that I've been very happy playing with my dollhouse - FINALLY!
I never had one growing up - so this is great fun and I HIGHLY recommend YOU treating yourself to a dollhouse too. You can make it be whatever you want it to be - the ideas are endless!
Let's see... I'm thinking aprons, candles, books, curtains, food for the family, oh and yes - a little dog too.
;-)
