  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. The Shop Where More IS More!

I DID have the opportunity to meet Marlene Oberst, the friendly owner of this delightful shop where the fun vibe of more is more can be felt as soon as you walk through the door!  She has owned The Shop since 1980 - how wonderful is that?

You can read more about her place here and here,  which boasts 3500 square feet and is filled to the brim with home, office, and vintage decor everywhere you turn - literally!  I lost Lori a couple of times!  ;-)

Marlene graciously allowed me to take photos to share with you and she said that she would love to meet you if you ever have the chance to pop in for a visit.  And of course, you can tell her that I sent you!  ;-)

Can you believe how much there is to see?  And I only captured a teeny tiny bit of the whimsical fun!

Well this concludes our little Micanopy adventure - for now.  I do want to go back in the fall and I'd love to explore the areas that I haven't seen yet.

Micanopy Wanderings

Before we continue on our adventure in Micanopy, I need to tell her that she won my little giveaway!

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful pictures of places that I will probably never get to visit... I love your style and your photos... your blog inspires me to make my home "me" and create my own style... thanks for all you do... for some reason I thought you would have bought the little pillow with the crown.. It would be wonderful in your little cottage... although, I saw a lot of other things that would look wonderful in your home as well as mine...

Debb please email me your mailing address and these pretty tokens of Dakota Mercantile style will be on their way to you!  I'm so happy that you all enjoyed visiting this shop and I promise that we will go there again - maybe in the fall?

Lori and I also went to several wonderful antique stores during our day in Micanopy.  She found fabulous china pieces for her beautiful mosaics that she creates and I found the perfect pair of vintage white cowboy boots that I have been looking for, but alas, they were too small!  So that search continues!  ;-)

I love shopping with Lori, because, like me, she enjoys venturing off the beaten path to see what is around the corner.  While walking down the quiet country road, this historic mansion called our name ...

Can you imagine staying here?  Well you can!  You can read about it here.  Which room would you choose to hang your hat for the night?  Hmm, I think I would pick this one or maybe this one.  We had great fun simply walking the gardens!

As we meandered about through town, we passed the old Micanopy cemetery, founded in 1826. We were moved to stop and spend some quiet time, reflecting on these souls who passed before us so long ago ...

First Stop ...

Lori and I visited Micanopy yesterday. What a charming old town! And the crickets! Their song played so beautifully in the background of our summer day - one spent chatting as only girls can do, and shopping, exploring, and eating, of course!  I had SO much fun spending the day with my neighbor and friend and I will share more about our adventure this week, but I wanted to share today about a lovely shop that I know you will love visiting too.
