What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true!
xo,
Kim
It was a busy day - chores, errands, lunch with sis and Mom. Chats with neighbors and pizza with the kids.
It was a good day.
How was YOUR day?
I'd love to hear all about it.

Oh, Kim,
I need you to live next door to me. I sent the link to your blog to a friend and I told her I wished you lived on one side of me and she on the other. But your blog is the next best thing, I guess. I always enjoy it so much!
Your day was filled with blessings and so was mine.
Love & Hugs,
Hattie
Today was a good day! I'm finally about over the cruddy stuff (sinus/upper respiratory infection) and have only a teeny cough left. I did almost all the laundry - washed, dried, put away - yippee! I also worked on a couple of projects outside! I painted a couple of planters, an old 50's plant stand got a coat of periwinkle blue, and turned a former pineapple fountain into a bird bath, complete with a couple of coats of 'hammered bronze' paint. I also rearranged the front porch so that we can do our new hobby - playing chess - while sitting in the wicker rockers out there. I'll have a post about the projects on my blog in a couple of days. OH! And hubby wanted chili dogs for dinner, so I made them for him and I had leftovers from dinner out on Sat. night - cheese ravioli with meat sauce and baked with mozzerella cheese from Provinos - yum!
My day...spent refinishing floors in the Chateau Room--Shack to Chateau! Will share sometime! It has been splendid weather here...
life is so full of goodness...the flowers in the garden and the little bunnies in our yard that EAT them...its all sweet....even Oliver(rabbit hound by lineage)yawns and stretches as he lays across his 40's rattan sofa and watches them!
Thanks for asking...and glad your days are always good!
Hi Kim, I just discovered your blog via Tara Frey's new book! I love your site! I'm planning to start a blog of my own this fall! I spent my evening with my three grands! I was gone for 3 weeks to our mountain cabin and I missed them so much! We had a blast!
Thanks for a great blog!
Gwyn
Thank you Kim! Yes it is definitely summer time here in Florida - scorching heat, BUT the evenings have been quite nice. Hope YOU are doing great!
It is SO nice to meet you Gwyn! I'm glad you are here - and I'm REALLY happy that you will be joining us in Blogland! That's wonderful - be sure to share your link with me when you do! I know your evening with your grandchildren WAS delicious, indeed! Thank you very much for your sweet words about my blog!
Your day sounds like a perfect summer day, pizza sure sounds good! I spent the day noodling around with fabric, running errands and staying in my p.j's til late in the day. Not a perfect day but a good one. Tomorrow we have friends coming for dinner and I plan to have a little more fun and a little less work:>) Have a good night Kim!
My life, like most of ours, is very busy. Since I have been introduced to the world of "the blog" I have tried to end my day reading yours. It is AMAZING how your pictures and you words just speak peace to my heart! I know I am not alone in my feelings. Thank you Kim!
Kim, my day was spent with my Handsome. we also did chores, ran errands & ate pizza. Coincidentally, earlier in the month I titled one of my posts "A very good day". Synchronicity? Or just two lucky girls?
Pleasant evening!

today was my day to watch my wonderful grandsons - bryson 2 l/2 and caleb l0 months! now that it's just me watching them i only watch them one day a week - but it's a great day with them. Bryson stills asks "where's grampa" when he comes in..we've told him that grampa is with the angels..these little delights make my heart happy and i hope that i make a mark on their littles lives. We have started saying prayer over our lunch..bryson will bow his head, close his eyes and at the end say "amen"! precious boys in my life..thank you Kim for sharing YOUR life with us.
Work- cleaning teeth all day, came home to find Bailey had opened the kitchen cabinet door and helped herself to a dog bone. She, of course, didn't clean up after herself and left the wrapper torn up on the kitchen floor. She left the cabinet door open, too! We took the dogs for a run, did laundry. Lots of fun stuff!
Things I liked about my day : felt a cool morning breeze, played with my flowers, found a cute little book about what dogs teach us, held one of my grandsons, piddled with some decorating, played with my dogs, talked with my mom, visited with friends, watched a movie with my husband, got a package in the mail, and read this blog and few others that had such positive messages in them!
My day is about done too. Going to bed to get some z's. My hubby took really good care of me today. I got to stay home from work, since I wasn't feeling myself today and it was nice to stay in my pink pj's all day. Updated my blog, read up on others, cleaned my closet, and watched "America's Got Talent."
Your blog is so fun to read and I always look forward to reading it daily! Thanks for asking about our day and I'm glad you had a good one.
glad to hear your day was nice:) my day was spent with friends and singing happy birthday to our friend karen. it was sweet to just be together and garden.

Kathy, love the "noodling around with fabric" - and a day spent in pjs can be just what the doctor ordered sometimes. Have fun with your friends - how nice of you to be having them over for dinner!
Thank YOU Cindy. I'm so happy that you are blessed with grandchildren... as for me? I'm not a grandmother - yet. Maybe one day! I hear that there is nothing more special than being one. :-)
Julia - a day with your "handsome" - how perfect! Something tells me he is the lucky one! (((hugs)))
((((Sarita))))
I am so happy that beautiful you have those boys and your loving family in your life..you are an angel here on earth.
Brenda! Bailey sounds like an impish LOVE - so glad you have her to come home to.. even if she didn't clean up after herself! ;-)
Yay D! A freshly painted washroom! You worked hard! I bet it is beautiful now!
Sondra! How I love that you noted the cool morning breeze and included that as noteworthy in your lovely day.. xoxoxo
Thank you Jessica! I hope you feel like yourself TODAY (as it is indeed a new one as I type this) and what a sweet hubby you have! Speaking of closets - I so need to tackle mine!
Aimee - what a lovely day you had! A garden AND friends! Perfect, perfect.
Had a good day here too. Walked my DIL around the mall (it's raining yet again here) trying to get her labor started as she is 2 weeks overdue. Grandson Carter made a bear for himself and his soon to be here brother at the Build A Bear store. Then a nice nap at my house for all. A good day.
Kim,
Aren't we blessed to be ABLE to do errands and visit with friends? My day today is filled with picking out paint, picking up my granddog and volunteering doing some crafts with some precious ladies at a senior living complex! Life is great!
Blessings and ((hugs)) to you!
The photos are lovely. Thanks for sharing. It makes me want to take an evening stoll down your street. It was a stressful day at work and afterward hubby and I ate left over BBQ and then took a ride in the Mustange with the top down. Nothing like an evening drive with the wind in your hair to relieve the stress of work. Then home to do a little monogramming and laundry and then nighty, night. Headed to Panama City Beach Monday for some REAL relaxation. Wish I could drive further to get a glimpse of Daisy Cottage in person.
Blessings,
Patty
Had a really good day. Drove with my sister to wish my oldest daughter (38) a happy birthday and take her a cake and a gift. We had BLT's and cupcakes and then when the grandkids were down for their naps, Susie and I left to do a bit of shopping before heading back (2 hour drive). I bought a little box with a dachshund silhouette on the cover with black polka dot paper napkins in it, an old flour sifter that's white with apple decals on it and an elephant bottle opener, elephant "poo paper" made from recycled poo (no kidding - some proceeds go to the elephant care) and of course, one of my favorite indulgences - slice of soap. I got cherry one of my faves and got my youngest daughter cranberry lemongrass. Good visit, good shopping and food out when I got home. My doxies were awaiting my arrival when I got home. It's always good to see them. I LOVE the photo of Maggie and the ant.
Hi, Kim! It sounds like you had a busy, but very nice day. I love sitting on the deck in the evenings, just settling down for the night.
Yesterday I spent the day working on the slipcovers for my sofa, which is what I am doing again today! Hopefully today will finish them, and then it's on to the chairs.
Hope you have a wonderful day today.
Mary Lou
Oh Renae, your special ladies are going to love YOU! That is awesome!
Susan, I am so glad that lovely you had a lovely day too. ((hugs))
Patty - pure bliss to ride with the top down! Good for you for treating yourself to an evening ride! Have a great time at the beach! Dip your toes into the ocean for me!
Oh Elizabeth - what a FAB day YOU had! Thank you so much for sharing with me!
Mary Lou how exciting - slipcovers! How I admire those of you who can sew and who have that kind of patience! They will be gorgeous for sure!
It was a rainy, humid day here and just great for me to open my book, I just started the 3rd book in the Twilight series....loving me some Edward & Bella :)
thank you Kim for your kind words - i am truly blessed to have my family and friends around me..and most of all to have God to give me the peace that passes all understanding..
Kim Dear,
Your pictures are so beautiful. We tell you that all the time but you keep amazing us.
I had a great day even though the temperatures are 110 degrees. Hubby and I went to a dairy with our youngest daughter and our two year old granddaughter. Besides cows there were chickens, a donkey and a horse, goats and a goose. We looked in the gift store and I bought our granddaughter a little pig that squeaks. We had lunch at the Farmhouse and then visited the Gilbert,AZ historical museum. Little Eva fell asleep on the way home. She is so sweet. Now I am home enjoying one of my favorites things; visiting you and Daisy Cottage.

Kim I just wanted to thank you again for allowing us into your sweet home! I absolutely loved being there and looking around with you. Your hospitality and sweet spirit make the home even more beautiful! Thanks for reminding me that one day I too will have my "dream come true!" ~ Ida - MOPS Member

"I just discovered your blog and am blown away with the comfortable, almost nostalgic feel of it...almost like finding a long-lost friend after many years apart...somehow familiar, but all so exciting and new." ~ Jane
Thank You Dena!
"Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena
Thank You Grace!
"I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace
Thank You Francesca!
"Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca
Thank You Kathy!
"I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy
Thank you Rue!
"That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Lenna!
"My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists.
In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

"Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.
Thank you Pamela!
"I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

"Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy
Thank You Anne!
"Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
