Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Hi Kim,

How wonderful to be able to spend a wonderful Birthday in Savannah. One of my favorite towns. We are finally back in MI for the summer and fall. Back to my regular routine and visiting your sweet sharings here at Daisy Cottage. Have a wonderful week~end Kim!
Huggs, Nancy

So glad you had a wonderful birthday trip. I would love to visit that bakery someday. Looks like my kind of place. Glad you are home. YOU were missed dear. Now...if I could just EAT that cookie!

You had me at banana pudding in a cup to go! Seriously, I think I need to go visit my family in Georgia!

Glad you had a birthday surprise to Savannah and that you are going to share it with us! My mouth is watering! :D :D

What a cute bakery! Thanks for the tour!

Hi Kim
I missed you but figured you were probably away somewhere celebrating your birthday and what a better place than Savannah. I love the bakery too. We may stop in Savannah for brunch next Sunday. Do you know if it's open on Sundays?
Hugs, Rhondi

Daisy Cottage

Hi Rhondi!
They are closed on Sundays.
I miss this bakery already!

Wishing you a very happy belated birthday. I love Savannah as well. Will definitely have to visit this charming bakery - thanks for sharing. Best wishes for a wonderful year ahead. - Julie

What a neat bakery. I love the colors and your photos are beautiful.

Welcome back Kim!
I have never been to Savannah, it sounds dreamy!
My 15 yr old daughter is taking a culinary course for the next 3 years of high school and her dream is to open a bakery. I will have to share your post with her. See now your site really is a family affair, Madigan loves the music!!
I love the different coffee cups, I could start collecting for DD's future bakery, hmmmm a thought!

What a perfect place!!!! LOVE love love the aqua tables! And the cookie looks DELISH! I was born in Savannah. :) And many many years later got engaged there on a vacation with my (now) hubby. What a nice birthday present for you!

Kelly~Rose Vine Cottage

OMG I love how they have it decorated! The colors are so pretty and the cookie looks delicious too, I'm so glad you had a fun vacation(;

What a wonderful, perfect place for a girls lunch! Your photos are fabulous and I felt like, if I couldn't be there, it was the next best thing. Thank you for sharing - your blog is divine!

The banana pudding got me too. Looks like a wonderful little bakery with so many yummy treats on the board. Glad you and hubby enjoyed yourselves!

So, while listening to Judy Garland...I enter into a charming piece of Americana and think that I simply must go and visit this wonderful shop (or open up one of my own!). Thanks for sharing your adventures, its just the kind of place I would like to be right now ;)

Glad you had a fun trip, Kim!

Sheila :-)

Rose - The Center of My Self

What a wonderful birthday trip you must've had, Kim! I'm sure hubby got lots and lots of hugs from you for his special thoughtfulness.

Wow - you can sense the love that the owners have put into the bakery. Every element, every detail shows it. The colors, the cups "spilling coffee", the seat doilies, the hand-written sign - I truly hope that Griff and Cheryl are very successful. You can't find that kind of loving care in a chain store. I adore you for sharing with us!

What an adorable place!!! I want to go visit and stay for a long time :0)

Carol @ Old Glory Cottage

Kim, I love how you feel like all you did was eat and shop....we feel the same way when we go on a trip! That bakery is so sweet looking. I wish we had a bakery in our town, but it's probably a good thing that we don't, because I love my cookies and cupcakes, and I would be big as a house! Sounds like you had a great birthday, and I can't wait to hear more!

I'm so glad you had a wonderful birthday, too.

I love Savannah. We first went there when I was a little girl, and I've always loved it.

Thanks for sharing your cookie. I was hoping you were going to offer me a bite.

What a very cute bakery! Someday I want to visit Savannah! What a fun way to celebrate your birthday :)

All the best,

Mary Lou

Hi! Welcome back!
Thanks for the visit to the bakery. I just love real, old fashioned bakeries. There are so few of them now, and such a part of my childhood. Yum..................
Thanks for the treat!
Mary Lou

That is the sweetest little bakery ever! I love all the vintage decor and oh my, that lime sherbert cookie..I need the recipe!! :) Happy belated birthday!!

Kim, you always find the nicest places! And then you're so nice to share them with us. Thanks. I can almost taste that cookie!

What an adorable looking bakery! I miss the bakeries of old ~ the yummy pastries, the friendly waitresses, the smells.... This place looks like what I remember. Glad you had a good time. Sue

Glad you had a good birthday Kim! I so enjoyed your sister - she should visit more often!!

We love Savannah, but it is second to our first love, Charleston. Do you ever visit there? We normally end of staying on one of the various (and blissfully not very populated) surrounding islands and driving into Charleston. Many neat cities in that area.

Can't wait to see/hear about your trip!

What a lovely bakery and the cookie...mmmm. I liked all the homely touches in the decor, it reminds me of traditional bakeries here in the U.K. Glad you had a good time. Look forward to reading more.

Oh, I can already see that you were in your element, Kim. All that vintage eye candy that makes it look like a bakery from our childhood. (I'm two years older than you are, but still the same era!) Can't wait to see what you came home with! (Oh, and hon, the fifties are the best years for women, I've found.)

So happy that you were able to visit my home town again! I hope you had a wonderful time. Hopefully this HOT weather did not hamper your visit! I did a little sightseeing this week along Broughton Street and found a wonderful French boutique and cafe that I had never even seen before! I hope you took lots of pictures to share. A belated Happy Birthday Kim! I have so enjoyed this blog. I stumbled upon it in the midst of a "funk" and got lost in the wonder of it all. Truly it was a factor in snapping me out of my funk! So thank you and God Bless you. I was out "thrifting" yesterday which I haven't done in way tooooo long and found a little bird on a perch...I've never bought this kind of thing before but at .99cents, I couldn't resist and it reminds me of Daisy Cottage. I brought it home, not sure where to put it but it found a little spot peaking out behind a vase on a table in the loves it there and is chirping to me...cheer up, cheer's working!!

Josephine Tale Pedder

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
