Now that we've had our cookie at the the bakery, let's shop together at Vintage General, a shop located in the heart of historical Savannah that makes your heart go pitter patter as soon as you step inside ...
I did not have the opportunity to meet the owner, Liz Demos, as she was not there when I visited, but an adorable member of her friendly staff kindly allowed me to take photos of her delightful and inspiring shop to share with you. You may also visit Liz at her personal blog and at the store's website. I so hope that I will be able to meet her the next time that I am in Savannah.
In the meantime, let's browse and enjoy all of the charm that Vintage General has to offer, shall we?
Wasn't that SO fun? I will make sure to visit this shop every time that I visit Savannah! Who knows, maybe I'll run into you too!
Next stop - hmm.... which way should we go???
;-)
Love,
Kim

So many lovely goodies! And you were right. My heart did pitter patter a bit just scrolling through the post!
I'm wondering what made it back to Daisy Cottage? The quilted trivets perhaps? They looked oh so cheerful.

I love every single thing in that shop, but especially those potholders! I would get into some serious trouble if that shop was anywhere near me. It looks like there is something for every decorating style there, which I'm sure makes it a success. Thanks for taking me shopping with you!

Savannah is one of my very favorie places to visit! We were there last year for Thanksgiving week, and had such a wonderful time. Well worth the trip for anyone interested in history, shopping, architecture, shopping, eating, shopping, etc. etc. etc.

Thank you soooo much for inviting me along to visit this delightful shop! All the pics are wonderful, what caught my eye was using vintage yardsticks attached to the shelves under the many ribbon bobbins. Remember when stores gave these away to celebrate their opening, and advertise at the same time! It was a clever touch to use them here!
Looking forward to more of Savanah...

That was one of my favorite shops when I visited Savannah last Nov. I was lucky enough to meet the owner and she is a sweety! Thanks for taking me back there again..

What fun! I love browsing through stores like that. It reminds me of one of the last trips my oldest daughter and I took to a shop very much like that before she got married. Made me a little sniffly to think of it.
Thanks for sharing that with us.

I think it is so fun that even though I live far away I can visit some of the fun shops of Savannah with you! Things I would never see if not for you sharing them, oh those ribbons and trims! the Chalkboard above the bed, the pillows and linens and everything else! It all makes me want to go there myself:>)

Hi Kim,
Thanks for the shopping tour. It was fun as always. I especially liked the quilt pillow shams.
Liz Demos. Her last name is Dutch. Did you notice anything like Dutch Clogs or windmills in the store? Maybe she is married to someone from Holland. Just a little curious.

What a wonderful store. Lucky for me that I live in Australia and no where near that store or I would have no money. I am sure I would and could spend it all in there. Thanks for sharing it with us

Wow. I am really flattered you wrote about my shop. I am especially happy to read all the lovely comments your readers have made. I promise you, I practically live there so it is too bad we missed each other. Next time you will have to let me know you are coming.
You took such pretty pictures too!
And to Fay Marie...I am Greek, not Dutch. Interesting though. I have never heard that my last name was Dutch. I think it was shortened when my grandparents came to America.

KIM! I can't believe you've posted my MOST favorite store EVER!!! We've been to Savannah for vacay two years in a row now and this shop stopped me in my steps! I was in there for a LONG time while hubby walked the 5 kiddos around :)
And this is the store that inspired me to collect yardsticks to use on our schoolroom shelves like Liz did with the ribbon spools....she is super nice. Thanks for bringing a favorite memory back to me tonite :)

Thank you for sharing. I could just stay here all day. What a lovely place to go. Wow, I can imagine how it must feel to work there, to greet visitors, to sit and have tea during quiet times. Thank you for taking us along on this lovely day dream of a visit.

Kim, This store is Eye Candy to the 10th degree!! Liz's merchandise is so varied and there seems to be something for everyone.
I saw something on the ribbon display shelf that intrigued me- a wooden yardstick with the name of a familiar furniture/fur store here in SW Ohio. Tickled me... Thanks for taking us along on this tour. :-) Sue

Oh Kim,
The sights, smells and sound of my heals on the wood floor. I am right there with you. I adore the play horse in the window. How about the sewing basket on the ladder and the wire bird cage peaking out? Oh so adorable.
I can't wait to see the next stop.

Love the post- such beautiful pictures. I am blown away with one of the pics of ribbon. The yardstick is from Laura, Ohio- a town about 10 miles from my house. The population of Laura is less than 500 people! I don't even think there is a traffic light. How long ago was there a store that sold "Furs and Furniture"? LOL I love it. It really is a small world.

I spy several things that would have been purchased by yours truly. I love that shade of blue that I see in the pillows...my favorite right now. LOVE that couch and that huge chalkboard. She has wonderful collections and a sweet store!!!!

What a wonderful store -- I'm ordering the cute little metal squirrel to set on my patio -- maybe all the real ones will come and visit -- pesky little critters but I love their antics.
We hope to get to Savannah later this year (when the weather is cooler) and I'm keeping a list of all the places you mentioned -- you're my tour guide!!!
Best always --

Does anyone remember the bright multi-colored aluminum glasses from the 1950s or so? They came in sets of multiple colors. Are they safe to drink out of?
