Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. Old & New

Play in Progress

I am literally right in the middle of moving things around, scooting furniture here and there, and playing with the living room and dining room.  We've had rainy and very cloudy days for the past week and while I was dusting off some books, I saw the sun trying hard to peek through the windows.  I stopped what I was doing to take a few pictures to share these TINY changes with you. Of course, I'm not done, but I know that YOU know I never really am anyway! So I might as well show you my play in progress!  ;-)  To me, this is one of the MANY wonderful things about cottage style - things can go from room to room and changes can be made with casual ease.  No perfection or formality required! And we can get a whole new look without spending a dime!

So..... I moved the dining room buffet to the living room. I keep our wine glasses and bottles of wine in here.  The drawers contain cocktail napkins, corks, openers, and candles. Again, I just moved this moments ago. The yellow sofa was pulled away from the wall and is now across from the fireplace. I will continue playing in here in a little bit.... (note to self - must get some ferns for the fireplace and pedestal)

And then I moved the red cabinet to the dining room and it is where the buffet was. (do you see why my hubby just shakes his head?) This cabinet holds serving dishes.

I'm still loving my green lamp and upside down curtains ....

Oh, and I don't think that I ever showed you this $20 rocker that I found while yard saling one Saturday.  All it needed was fresh red & white polka dotted fabric to be happy!  I'll be finding a little pillow for it in a minute...

And you know me SO well - the bedroom mirror which became the living room mirror has now become the dining room mirror.  ;-)

And seems to like this reflection too... should I spray paint the vagabond mirror red??

I guess that's it for now.  The sun has slipped away again but that's okay.  I'll light some candles, turn up the music, and keep on playing.
