See?
I'm trying to add a little bit of whimsy to our new Daisy Cottage garden!
Hubby doesn't understand the dishes but that's okay. He doesn't need to, right?
;-)
And Maggie doesn't understand why she still can't capture this guy who apparently has found his new home ....
Perhaps it is because she is too busy sniffing around here ...
and here ...
I'm happy to report, however, that everything is still alive and blooming, even though we have had no rain since it was created!
And maybe one day our garden will grow up to be like hers.
Until then, we will enjoy its' infancy and I will enjoy the dishes.
xo,
Kim
The dishes are precious as is the curious Maggie. Enjoy your garden!

Love the plates! I copied that idea from Linda at Blue Gate Blog and used plates in my window box and planters. Yours so perfectly capture Daisy Cottage and echo what's going on inside. Perfection!

That is LOVELY. I have seen the dish idea once before at a lovely Tea Room off the coast of central California- LOVE IT

Darling! My neighbor has plates in her garden also and uses large colorful mixing/serving bowls for planters and teacups glued to saucers for bird seeds. It is so charming just like your new garden ~ it matches your charming home so well . . . . . you must smile from ear to ear everytime you come home! :)

Sounds like Daisy Garden needs a pretty watering can for her garden since there has been no rain. I like the dishes and my Hubby would not understand it either... *giggles*

I think it is an adorable idea. My hubby wouldn't understand either. After all he didn't "get" the Fairy Garden I planted for my girls. But, now he says how "cute" it is.

Being a dish-o-holic... I would love to try this. BUT Hunter is nothing like Maggie... He's exactly like a "bull in a china cabinet" He'd snap the tops off dishes and keep moving...lol I still love your idea...and No, hubbies don't need to understand.
Posted by: Ketha | May 06, 2009 at 10:54 AM
What a LOVELY idea... if you don't want to wash the dishes... just stick them in the garden... lol! Those are ADORABLE plates too!

The dish idea - so not mine - has definitely been done before - and it is a wonderful, fun idea isn't it? Especially when you make it YOURS with the dishes that YOU choose. And of course when they are thrifted dishes too!

Charming, and perfect for Daisy Cottage. I will send you some Ohio rain. It hasn't stopped in a week. I just posted my garden in the rain because I can't get any sunny days to take photos. It is looking like a jungle out there. Enjoy your warm sunny days.

I did this several years ago, and took a grease pencil and wrote the name of the perennial on the plate, then stuck the plate in front of the perennial. I love your cheery plates! Color to the garden when there's not much color there yet!

I LOVE the dishes!!! No, the hubbys don't get that kind of stuff. I had Artie remove the bedroom door to my craft room so I could install a hutch in that wall space. No door to a room? He was horrified. Way to outside the box for my Love Monkey. He grasped for straws. Conversation went like this:
"What about when Stella (my niece)comes to visit? Won't she get into your things?" Artie sputtered.
I pretended to ponder this. "Well, first of all, Stella is now seven years old, and since she lives on the other side of the US and we see her every couple of years - I really don't think that is going to be a problem. Here's the screwdriver."
Gotta love 'em for putting up with us.
By the way, anyway we could get a pic showing as much of the front of Daisy Cottage's new garden as possible? Would love to see the whole effect!
