Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. Somerset Life

Do you remember when I mentioned that I wanted to collect little fabric hearts made by YOU? 

Well, shortly after that, Jenny Doh , the editor-in-chief and director of publishing for Stampington & Company, contacted me and asked if I would consider sending in several of your hearts that she selected for a future feature in Somerset Life , a gorgeous publication filled with pages and pages of artful inspiration.

Of course, I was more than happy to pack up those chosen hearts and mail them across the country, after I was assured that they would be safely returned. And I am now VERY happy to share with you that the sweet hearts, created by real-life sweethearts, Kelly, Sher, and Arlene are featured in the current issue of Somerset Life!

Isn't that exciting?  Thank you SO MUCH Jenny (you can visit her here)  and thank you Amanda Belle Nolan, the writer of the story, for the wonderful feature on these special artists!  It was a pleasure working with both of you!  

If you have the chance, please treat yourself to a copy of this issue - you will enjoy it from cover to cover!  Promise!  :-)

Oh, and while I was so excited for these hearts to make their special journey to California, I must admit that I am REALLY excited that they are back home with me so that I can treasure them FOREVER!  ;-)

Napkin Love

Speaking of love, I really LOVED reading your wonderful responses in the post below about the colors that YOU  would choose or have chosen for the outside of your houses! Now I can picture you in your sweet homes and I hope that one day ALL of you will be able to have your home painted in the colors that you love.  Oh, and no, I'm not thinking about painting Daisy Cottage another color... a yellow house was what I always wanted and I still love the color that we chose!  :-)

And speaking of color, may I just say that colorful cloth napkins are MUCH more fun to use than white paper ones...

A Reminder

I'm not putting the punch bowl away, even though the holidays have come and gone. 

And I'm not going to fill it with pretty green apples, like I did here.

I think I am going to leave it on the red buffet, ready at a minutes notice to be filled with frothy delicious punch, and as a reminder of the recent joyful celebrations that we had at Daisy Cottage.

And to help us remember, that EVERY day is, indeed, worth celebrating.

*edited so that I may share my favorite punch recipe*

Sister Jill's Pineapple Champagne Punch

1 can of pineapple juice

1 liter gingerale

1 container of pineapple sherbert

1 small bottle of champagne (optional)

Mix together in a punch bowl right before serving and most importantly - ENJOY!
