Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. Fifi's Cottage

My hubby and I took a little road trip to visit Fifi - she was having a yard sale, and let's just say that her yard sale was like NO other... everything was displayed so beautifully and there were so many treasures to be found! I treated myself to a few too, and will share some of those with you later, but first I wanted to share a few glimpses of her precious cottage with you. Let's step inside, shall we?

Pumpkin Cookies

Pumpkin Cookies

1 cup shortening

1 cup sugar

1 cup pumpkin

1 egg

2 cups flour

1 tsp soda

1 tsp cinnamon

1/2 tsp salt

Cream shortening, sugar, and pumpkin.  Add egg and mix well.  Add sifted dry ingredients.  Drop from spoon onto cookie sheet.  Bake @ 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.

FROSTING

1 T vanilla

1 lb. powdered sugar

1 stick butter

8 oz cream cheese

Beat frosting ingredients until smooth.  Frost cookies after they have cooled.

Makes about 48 cookies

It's been one of those days, but that's okay - I'm taking a batch of these cookies to a special someone tomorrow and I know that tomorrow will be a BEAUTIFUL day... and of course I'll share all about it with you.

Maggie's New Fur Coat

Maggie wanted to show you her new winter coat and silky locks on her ears that grew just in time for our current cold snap... brrrrrr!

She doesn't have the really long hair that many other long-haired dachshunds have - and remember how upset she was when she lost her locks? So naturally she is quite proud of her winter fur coat and natural highlights...   ;-)
