Once again, she's NOT dead and she's NOT asleep - she's faking it. She thinks that if she runs to the living room and assumes this position, she will NOT have to endure this...
She pleads with her eyes for me to put the camera down and rescue her ...
But I don't, as her Daddy is right - she needs this bath!
And even though she wants you to feel so sorry for her...
She does enjoy being all clean and pretty when the bath is done - and she knows that she gets an extra treat as compensation for her pain and suffering...
Next time Maggie, try hiding under the bed like your big brother does!

A Day To Remember
September 11, 2001
Hi Kim,
Maggie is a unique dog with sweet personality! Every day spent with her must be a delightful experience. She always has such a sweet expression on her face - I am sure she takes after her sweet Mom. Thanks for sharing her "faking" it. I always laugh when I see that pose. My dogs hides under the bed when its bath time. LOL

That is so funny! I just love her expressions, she is like my Lulu, she is a Victorian Bulldog, they always have so much to say with their eyes and looks.

I think maggie needs a "drama queen" collar, lol! Oh the indignity of the bath:>)

How could we ever forget?
Posted by: Kathleen Grace | September 11, 2008 at 07:48 AM
Bless her little heart! Look at her playing possum in that first picture! haha!
Posted by: Katie | September 11, 2008 at 08:00 AM
Aren't they funny? My little pup is the same way. She looks so sad when you're bathing her, but she is so happy afterwards when you tell her how pretty she is and how good she smells! LOL
Always remember - 9/11/01

Kim, Maggie is adorable. How did she know it was bath time?
I will always remember and never forget!

Rachel, she sees the shampoo and towel come out of the closet and notices the sink being prepped and so she runs to the living room and "faints" on the floor.

Kim,
I just wanted to tell you that I have been reading your blog for several months now and it is the highlight of my morning. You have such a charming home and I love seeing what you add to it. I recently changed my home to all white, creams etc but every morning I look at your house - I want to go out and get some color! :)
I was wondering ~ I thought maybe I would start my own blog. Could you give any hints on how to get started?
Your dining room is most favorite room and I adore the wild wing back chairs in your living room! Sarah

LOVED this post!
I, too, dread bath time with my pooch.
I'm having a GIVEAWAY over at my blog, and plan to have my doggie pick the winning name on video next week... :-)

That is so funny ! A friend of mine can say to her dog "do you want a bath ?" and he will start growing at you, LOL .
Posted by: Theresa@TakeASentimentalJourney | September 11, 2008 at 09:57 AM
Isn't it funny the things they do to try to avoid the bath. We don't even have to say "bath." Sophie knows when it's time and she goes up to my office and hides under the desk.

Awww, big kisses for Maggie from me! Love those pics, Kim. She's such a cutie...now a clean cutie.

Absolutely adorable and FLUFFY!
Posted by: Miss Jean | September 11, 2008 at 10:08 AM
Maggie is so funny!! Our doggy hates her bath, too. If you just say the word "bath" she'll duck her head and refuse to make eye contact with you... but she hasn't figured out that she could play dead. Just as well, because like Maggie, she gets a bath when she needs one anyway!
Thanks for sharing the adorable pictures!

Kim, theres nothing any sweeter than smelling our babies after a bath, even if they are the four leg kind. I know my Maggie doesn't like her bath until its over too. You have a great day.
Remember 9/11, a day we can't forget.

Morning, Kim..
Thanks for sharing pics of Maggie's Bath Time. She is quite the little gal. Her pictures just make me melt!
Our doxies dislike bath time as well. We put warm water in a big plastic basin and do them one at a time....they really do not like it at all, but when they are dry they fly through the house with JOY..it's hysterical.
How does Maggie do in wet weather? Our dogs looks at us as if to say "Excuse, me. Let me get this straight, you want us to go out THERE? Yup, we do want you to go outside! LOL, never a dull moment!
Take care~ mary

I know how your heart feels when you get the sad eyes, my baby does me the same way. The only difference is I am the bath giver, so I hurry, and tell my sissy what a pretty girl she is.
Posted by: Bea | September 11, 2008 at 10:45 AM
This is one of the funnest posts! I just love Maggie - what a great actress! My Lulu and Braxton are the same way with the pleading eyes while Daddy bathes them. But the "Fainting" part - that is strictly "Maggie"!

How do they know? When I'm bathing, my Jakie wants to be in there with me on the rug, but when I'm running a bath and I set out his shampoo, he disappears. They are amazing!

Oh, no, the dreaded bath. If anything can illustrate the torture it's those eyes! But what a beautiful lady now that she's done. Lovely tribute to 9/11, Kim.

What a cutie pie!!! You know she just speaks to you through her expressions! The eyes to melt your heart!

Maggie, you are a PRO at playing opossum! You made me really LOL with that pic. You look so soft and fluffy. Baggins and Oliver want you to know they send their empathy because they each got bathed this week too. And Maggie, I had a dream last night about dachshunds. Really! It wasn't a nightmare, it was very sweet and I woke up wanting one.

What a funny girl! Usually she has such a lovely pose. Her dog Dad seems to have it all under control. I wish just a bath would make me look so gorgeous. I love Maggie pictures. She is lovely. Her look...her markings...even faking a road kill she is glamourous. Lots of dog luv and hugs. My dogs try to blend into the linens on the bed. Maybe I won't notice the huge lump in a different colour.

Ah, yes, doggies and bath-time! I had a big old gold retriever for 12 years---bath time was a blast! :-) Your Maggie is a doll and your photos prove it.
I enjoyed reading your answers to questions readers asked about you and your background. Thank you for taking the time to do that---I am so surprised you don't have a photography or decorating background. You are certainly gifted in those areas!! Dana

What a poor little face! If there was ever a face that you could shower in kisses it would have to be Ms Maggie may's!
We know Maggie May how you HATE those awful baths but... You look so BeAuTiFuL afterwards!! ( i bet you smell better too! LOL)

I had to laugh at the bath time pictures because that is exactly what we were doing with our yorkies today. I have a Maggie of my own and her best friend Max.
I live in Longwood, north of Orlando. We were just down in Winter Haven on Friday for a $5 deal at Cypress Gardens. We love to head down your way! I LOVE YOUR HOUSE! I also decorate in reds and yellows, so I enjoy looking at your decor and groupings.

I love your blog and have been visiting often. Maggie's bath was adorable. We have
a basset hound, I usually take him to the doggie self-wash so I don't have to clean the bathroom when we're done!!!! Thanks for the inspiration!

Oh my gosh, Maggie is so cute. She makes the same faces that my 4 daschunds make when they are bathing. Why do they dislike baths so much? Is it because they already think they are doing a good enough job cleaning themselves and don't need help? I have been away from my blogsurfing for awhile so it is good to come back and visit your blog.
