Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Happy Friday to you, and have a great time with your friend. I am in need of some gal time myself. These days with work and the kids in school I am feeling overwhelmed so I must get some fun gal time too.

DebbieCalif

Love the little picture of your dog, and the cross looks wonderful. I really, really enjoy your pictures of your front and back porch. I love to see your ideas for decorating your "outside rooms." Glad your plant is doing great!
Blessings,
Debbie

Kim,
Your house looks so lovely- has always!
I love the painting of Ms Maggie - looks just like her!
What did you use to paint your cross with? I mean did you use spray paint or a brush?
Whatever you used it tured out great!
Have a wonderful weekend! :O)

It's always so colorful and cheery at Daisy Cottage. My favorite thing today is the lamp next to the piano; that red shade just pops against the yellow wall!

Kim

Love Daisy Cottage! Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday gurl! Love that bird house, so cute!

I don't usually leave a comment, but wanted to let you know how encouraging and inspiring I find your blog to be. Thanks so much for the pick-me-up. Have a fabulous Friday.

Kim, How funny to happen upon a fellow blogger at a yard sale. I found a new friend in town who has been reading my blog and I didn't know it. This seems to be making the world a little smaller. Have a wonderful weekend. Susan

I hope you have a wonderful weekend too, Kim. Do you know what kind of plant that is? It is so pretty. I see Penny's wonderful bird house too:>) Everything is just beautiful!

Nancy

Kim, Happy Friday and week-end to you too. You sure have a fun week-end planned. I bet you find something special this week-end to share with your blogland friends.
I love your yellow walls and everything else about your home! I keep looking at the walls in my trailer wondering do I or don't I want them yellow. I love yours so it would make sense that I would like mine yellow too. Ummm? Someday I will have a stick house again(what RV people call homes that do not travel) and then maybe I can have my cheerful yellow walls.
Peace

What lovely pictures again. I love the little birdhouse as well! And you made me laugh with your comment about the plant: I have such problems with my plants! Have a wonderful weekend. x

We love the picture of Maggie's bath time... too funny! Isn't it fun to meet a blog friend?
Best Wishes for a great weekend!

Well, if Ike doesn't knock the cable TV out my husband will likely make it through the weekend. He's scared to death he won't get to see the OU Sooners play tomorrow. Me, I'm just afraid for my garden. And losing the air conditioning. To me, more practical fears. And of course, don't want to lose my internet connection or I won't know what everyone's up to this weekend!

Hi Kim,
So happy to see Maggie's picture has a place of honor. Have fun at the game tonight. I love going to high school football games.

Hi Kim! I had to laugh at your Maggie bath post. We call it "spa day" around here for Murphy and he actually enjoys the bath so much that he falls asleep in the sink! ~XO~ Janet

Love the painting in its new vignette. Perfect, Kim! And I love the cross painted white. Believe it or not, I have one just like it which I distressed with some of the paint from our house.

Have a great weekend!

OK. So I'm most impressed about the plant still being alive after three weeks. What does that say about me? I have a "funeral black" thumb.

Everything's beautiful, as always!

Hi Kim!! How are you doing?

Hi there!

I'm from Brazil, Rio de Janeiro and completly fell in love with your blog!!!

I'm new with all this decoration stuff and you are a big inspiration! =D
I just got married and I'm decorating our home (a small apartament) little by little, piece by piece.
Oh my, I wish we had yard sales in Brazil too... It's almost impossible to find pretty vintage objects around here.
I look at your pictures and can almost smell the good scents of sun, wet gardens and cozy sofas....

Congratulations!!!

Many kisses!

Kat

My week has flown by too. I've been cleaning my master closet from top to bottom...a MAJOR job!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Hugs!

This post is like a big ole yellow ray of Sunshine!!! ::))

Diane

Dear Kim, Happy weekend to you also. Pictures of your home are always fun to see and I'm glad you kept your plant alive. It really is a challenge, isn't it? They don't live for me, either.

Daisy Cottage

Lisa, I just used a couple of Q-tips,dipped them in white paint and then dabbed the paint all over the cross. It probably took 5 minutes! ;-)

Becky

Hi Kim, My name is Becky and I too live in Florida. Tampa area. I love stopping by your blog to visit your lovely home. It just cheers me. I get so many ideas for color. I come away wanting to paint everything bright and beautiful.
Where is the shop Vintage that you visit, it is called that right? Do they have a blog? It could be time for a road trip. I should have asked before a friend and I went to the Barn in Lake Alfred. Have you been there. I can't wait until they decorate for Christmas. I love this place!
Have a nice weekend and let us know if the team won.

I hope that you will let me know.
Thanking you in advance

Good morning Kim :)

The days DO seem to be going by faster. I can't believe it's the middle of September already.

You found the perfect place for Fifi's painting of Miss Maggie and you did a beautiful job with the cross :)

I hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

love,

The cross looks beautiful!

Beverly

Maggie looks just beautiful in her place of honor on the piano.

Happy Friday, ahem, to you, too! Always a treat to stop by and see what you're up to. Your Maggie painting looks wonderful framed and propped there. I laughed out loud at the photos below of Maggie playing dead before bath time. Ha!!!!

Hope your weekend was wonderful. :)

Lori

My recent pregnancy got me out of my blogging mode. I'm finally back into the swing of things and I'm so enjoying checking back in on your blog. Loved the photo of Maggie playing dead - she's hilarious. Visited 2 mini doxies not long ago: Fred & Ginger. Boy were they sweet! I'm a You've Got Mail fan too. I could watch that movie a hundred times. Everything about it is so charming. I wish that little book store was around the corner from me...

Happy Sunday!

thanks for your comment on my blog I love your painting of Maggie...truly wonderful that FiFi is!!! all my best, Jennifer

Sorry, I posted twice! =P

I didn't remember if I had posted or not, but after posting the 2nd message, there I saw the previous one... Oh my!
I have such a bad memory! =/

Oh, well, you deserve all the praise anyway! =)

Yes, time does fly bye. I've noticed that the stores started putting out Halloween items in July and now the Thanksgiving and Christmas things are out.

It seems to me that we are pushed into thinking months ahead and it stops us from living in the "NOW". So SAD.

Maggie looks great on the piano in a yellow frame! She is so adorable! Love all her photos!

Thank you Fifi!

  • "It's people like yourself that make everything beautiful and worthwhile." ~ Fifi

Thank You Ida!

  • Kim I just wanted to thank you again for allowing us into your sweet home! I absolutely loved being there and looking around with you. Your hospitality and sweet spirit make the home even more beautiful! Thanks for reminding me that one day I too will have my "dream come true!" ~ Ida - MOPS Member

Thank You Jane!

  • "I just discovered your blog and am blown away with the comfortable, almost nostalgic feel of it...almost like finding a long-lost friend after many years apart...somehow familiar, but all so exciting and new." ~ Jane

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

  • "What I love best about Daisy Cottage is Kim. I love the way you appreciate every good thing in life and embrace joy in every moment." ~ Rose

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

  • "Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

  • "Your words and thoughts of encouragement help me see myself with value. You are a blessing. Thank you." ~ Tracy

Thank you Karen!

  • "Your humble spirit has not changed through your many posts here in Blogland. You have been blessed with a special gift and I am very thankful you share it with us." ~ Karen

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
