I have a question for you... What is the dream in your life that has come true for YOU? I would love to hear your stories if you would like to share...
AND if you have a question for me, ask away on this post, and I'll try to answer them - be gentle, okay? ;-)
So, who wants to go first?
xo,
Kim
Hi Kim,
First off, I would like to say just how much I love your blog!!! I check it everyday.
My question for you is: Do you have a professional background in photography, writing and design?? You are so talented!!
Have a blessed weekend!

Have you ever seen your picture on the left of the screen!

I think my greatest dream that has come true was to find someone to share my life with. A true and abiding love.
My question for you is have you ever worked full-time outside the home, a previous career, etc? And (is it okay to ask 2 LOL?) have you always lived in Florida?

"Ah . . . ." That's what I thought when I read your question. To write for publication. Now, I've done it and do it regularly. I also live in a log house (not quite cottage but close)out in the country on seven and a half acres. I grow beautiful things and feel close to God everyday.
Thanks for reminding me of my blessings. What is your fondest dream?~~Dee

Hi Kim -
I love your blog too. It's like receiving a greeting card from a dear friend every time. One of my long time wishes that have come true is having horses. I wished for a horse at so many birthdays and Christmas as a child that I ended up with 11 of them for a while. Be careful what you wish for, aye? I am animal crazy and just love seeing pictures of Miss Maggie, too.
My question for you is, what is your favorite fragrance?

My dream was to live in my own house in the country with a family of my own and some chickens. A cow and horse would be great too but as I live in a country town rather than countryside that wouldn't quite work. But near enough is good enough for me. I'm grateful.

Kim-
My dream was always to live in Maine (dating back to kindergarten when I told my best friend not to get too attached, because I was going to move to Maine one of these days! LOL) I visited Maine nearly every year of my life and one summer as a freshman in college when making the 1,000 mile drive back to Michigan for the start of school, I pulled off the road crying. My heart was breaking having to leave again. So I vowed right then and there that it would be the last time I left. Sure enough, the next time I came, I stayed! I live in the sweetest community of just 500- mostly lobsterman and have a quaint little cottage with a view of the water. My dream come true.
My Question for you: Who or what gives you inspiration when decorating?

My dream or prayer was to find a good nice and sweet husband, after having one bad marriage I was so concerned. A few months later he called and we dated and have been together 15 wondeful years. How could I ask for more? Next week he is taking me on our first cruise. My question is what part of the country do you live? I am located in north Texas, love finding sweet people in this blog land.

I have had many dreams come true: joining a choir, a great part-time job that was offered to me, friends that are dear, a role in a musical. Since we've moved to a new community, I'm trying to figure out what my new dream is. Still searching.

Number one dream come true, for me, Mr J! The births of my daughters is another dream come true. And, of course, all the little sweety pies my girls have given us; our delightful grandchildren.
A Summer Place, by Mr Percy Faith, is playing as I type this. Boy does that tune bring back memories! Oh my and there is Moon River!
I'm writing from another dream come true. My 60th birthday present...at least that's what the kids call our place at the lake.
Have a great weekend!

Two dreams: having my own cottage in the country - a dream that seemed impossible because of my career in the arts - and meeting someone to share my life with. I did meet the love of my life when I least expected it, and the impossible dream of our cottage came true! You can never say never, you know what I mean?

I am living one of my dreams..to live in a historic home with sidewalks, porch swings and a mailman that walks the neighborhood like when I was a child. I took the oppurtunity by the grace of God and love my 1925 Bungalow. It brings peace and happiness to all who visit. I only have 1 fear and that is that Hurricane Ike stays away and doesn't blow out my wavy window glass that gives me such a beautiful view!!
And another of my dreams come true is to have neighbors like you, just wish we lived next door to one another so I could pop in and lend a hand moving that chair or painting a mirror! LOL!. Love ya and all the joy you bring to me and others.
((Hugs)

Hi Kim,
I'm a mom and a teacher who has always wanted to be a mom and a teacher! Living' the dream every day.
I guess my grown up dream would be for you to come to my house and tell me how to make it look like yours. Love, love, love your style.
Question: How did you keep your home all cute and put-together when your kiddos were younger?

My lifelong dream will become a reality next year. I will retire and be able to putter around my house and garden for the rest of my life.
What is your favorite thing to do when you aren't blogging?

HI Kim,
My dream came true 14 years ago when my family and I picked up and moved to Tipperary Ireland! I love anything Irish and had always wanted to visit Ireland. We saved up enopugh over the years to get there and live for a year. WE LOVED IT. Such a lovely, slow, paced life we led. Hated coming back.
Love your blog.

Morning, Kim! So nice of you to ask aout our dreams.
I am living my dream. I always wanted to be a wife, mother, and nurse. I live in a great house with a pool and a white picket fence. I have lots of wonderful antiques and creative ideas galore. We travel and love to be together. Our son is a doctoral candidate in a pharmacy school, and we are so proud of him. My hubby is a business man. It's a good life and I thank my lucky stars every day.
In the future I would like to have an antiques business. I will probably use a little cottage we have right here on our property for that. It's all good!

Hi Kim!
I think my dream come true was after my divorce I got the incredible opportunity of moving into my 1910 Cottage Bungalow that has been in my family since my beautiful Grandma Rhoda lived there. I have such wonderful memories with her here and now I am here waking up in this wonderful cozy home I love and have remarried to the love of my life. I am truly blessed. I thank you for such inspiration and getting me started in blogland when one very lucky day I stumbled upon your creative inspiring blog and now it has consumed me. I check you everyday and enjoy it so much.

Hello Kim, Great blog this morning. I also visit each and every day and have found inspiration and joy. I had a dream for many years that came true in 2001. It was to retire, sell my home of thirty years, buy a 5th wheel trailer and truck and travel this great country for a few years. We ended up with a compromise and set our 40'5th wheel on a permanent spot and travel summers in a motorhome. I love decorating a small space and have a beautiful patio and garden with majectic mountain views. Home is peacefull! Our family has a place called myfamily.com where I practive being you. My daughters think I should start a blog. Do you have a good source of information to get started?
Thank you my blog friend, Nancy

Oh Kim, what a delightful blog you have. And to think we're only about 1/2 an hour away from each other! Someday we shall have to have a cup of coffee and chat!
I almost fell out of my chair when I saw the comment above by Elizabeth of MyMaineCottage blog. It could be my own words -- with the exception that I have not been able to realize my dream of living in Maine, as she has. There is something about that place, I tell you. On my first trip there, I also cried like a baby throughout the night before we left. There is something about the place that feels like you just can't leave once you've been there. I never, ever forgot it. I still haven't "gotten over it". When we bought this historic home we now live in, it was partly because I kinda knew we would probably never actually move up there and at least this home reminded me of Maine (its old and has sort of a "northern home" loook). I wish I could say that I still hold out hope for moving up there, but with each passing year, the hope has faded -- the dream has not, but the hope of it "coming true" has. NOW! All that to say this--you can STILL live BEAUTIFULLY no matter WHERE you are geographically. If that were not so, I would be sunk! So, dreams aside, life is still wonderful, a blessing and a treasure. Just a bit HOTTER lived down here! :)
Thanks for listening, Kim...almost like therapy! :)

Hi Miss Kim. what a clever way of making us think about all the things we have to be grateful for. At the top of my list is my family which starts with my husband and two daughters. I always wanted children and God was very kind to us. The wonderful thing about it all is that the family keeps growing and the circle completes itself. You always have a positive attitude and show us what is good in your life. Thanks as always for sharing. HTH Janet

All my dreams came true when I had my children and then, the icing on the cake, the 10 grandchildren.
Now, my dream is for all of them to find THEIR dreams...

Oh Kim,
This is such nice post and question. Love reading everyone's dreams. So sweet.
I think we should all have dreams and never stop dreaming.
For me, my dream is to have a great, loving & healthy family of 3 and soon 4. I love to be in my beautiful home (that God has allowed us to maintain) with my family.
This year 2 major dreams came my way. The 1st one is to get pregnant with my 2nd child which will give my little boy a sister to love and adore. And the 2nd dream was to become an American Citizen. I've been in this wonderful country since the age of 9 so becoming an American was/is HUGE for me.
I hope ALL your dreams and wish come true. Keep inspiring us.
Hugs,
Dayami ;)

Kim,
Your question brought tears to my eyes -- of happiness! For my dream, and everyone else's that I read. I have recently realized that I'm living my dream come true in every way. A thriving, joyful teenage daughter (yes it can happen!), a happy marriage of 21 years that has survived ups and downs and is stronger than ever, darling & devoted pets, my humble cottage home. And now having the ability to make friends with girls from around the world who are positive and creative, I feel as though I have found my soulmates! Life truly can be what you make it, with a positive attitude you truly can attract what you need. Blessings to all!!

Sadly we three girls of the family all have asthma so can't have pets but love seeing Maggie. My question for you is: Do you have a favourite film(s) or book(s)? Thank you. Jane x

Kim, I too want to say how much I have enjoyed your blog long before I had one of my own, you were in my favorites.
My dream was to raise happy, successful and responsible children with the love of my life who served and loved the Lord. Our four children are all that and more! Each have earned college degrees with our three sons either are or are still becoming doctors. They want to give back and help those who can't get care for themselves. Then being blessed with 10 wonderful grandchilden and watching the process be taught and happen all over again. Isn't life great?
Posted by: Beth | September 05, 2008 at 03:11 PM
Having children.
Seriously, when I was a child I couldn't wait to grow up and be a mom.
It took us a long time, and lots of procedures but we were able to have twin boys, another little boy 13 months later, and a year later our daughter who went straight back to heaven.
I feel so blessed, every single day to be a mom. It's the life I always wanted it, and I'm living it.
My next dream is to be a Foster Parent, we are done with classes and working towards certification.

Hi Kim, I am living my dream! I have always wanted to restore an old home and not have to get up and go to a job every morning. In the past year, my husband and I have moved from another state to restore a 100 yr old farmhouse, and I am not getting up and going to a job every morning-- that is, UNLESS you want to consider remodeling, gardening, canning, sewing, cooking, cleaning, painting, etc....BUT, I am enjoying every minute of it and wishing I had made the move years ago!
My question for you is: when do you have the time to write and post your blog? Don't you ever sleep?
Posted by: Jacque | September 05, 2008 at 04:54 PM
I love your blog...check it every morning before I start work. My dream was always to live in my parents 1940's cottage. They purchased the 4 bedroom house when I left to go to college! I always wanted my children to grow up there, but couldn't see a way for it to happen. God works in unusual ways. My father passed away, my mother put the house up for sale on a Friday, Hurricane Katrina hit on Monday flooded my house and I was able to buy the house. My dream came true. Now if I could just get it to look like yours!

My dream came true 5 years ago when a month in a half baby was meant to be ours. We waited 5 long depressing years. And finally the oppurtunity came just for us. Today i walked my son to catch the bus for kindergarten. I was so proud , so happy so complete, I just wanted to kiss him to death. But he did not want to look uncool in front of the big kids.lol. Then he drove away on the bus and I have never felt so complete in my life. The love for my son is unbelievable and i really thank god and my grandma( I really felt she had a big hand in sending him down to us from heaven,) that i have the chance to be the best mother that my mom was. (is).
My question to you is where do you store your pretties when you change out around the house? Do you have a big room to put things in? mishelle
Posted by: mishelle | September 05, 2008 at 06:00 PM
My dream has changed over the years. First, it was to find a sweet man to share my life with, which I did. Then to have children and we were blessed with three. Now that they are grown, my dream is to move to a small farm, give my "girls" (the hens) a larger place to roam and maybe even have a cow or two. Miniature ones, of course, because they are so darn cute and much easier to care for. :)
Posted by: Karin | September 05, 2008 at 06:36 PM
My biggest dream was to be a stay at home mom and I did. Then I also had a dream of being an author and I ended up writing four art instructions books. That wasn't what I had in mind, but I think it counts!

Hi Kim,well my dream was a rather simple one, it was one that no amount of money could buy or any amount of love could make a reality if it wasn't meant to be that way, you see my little guy(6 years old)is an autistic child, and my prayer every night was please if my son is never able to say more than one word, could it please just be MOM, then finally when he was 4and half years old, he just blurted out MOM, and I looked around because I didn't know where it came from, and now not only did God grant me such a simple desire he also blessed my son with the ability to speak YAYYYYYYY!!! luv your blog, Diana

Hi Kim,
Long time reader, first time commenter. My dream was to open my own shop, which I was able to do on etsy. I still dream of making it a real live storefront someday, but for now, getting to share my creations with people via etsy is good enough.
Someday a storefront!

My husband, my children, and now my shop and wonderful new friends like you are a dream come true! Thank you for being you!

Kim, that's an interesting question. Years ago when I was newly married, I wrote down some dreams on a piece of paper (which I found recently). One of the dreams was to restore an older home. That dream came true in spades. It's been five older homes! I enjoy leaving each one better than we found it. It's a blessing to take something that no one else would dare tackle, tackle the challenge, and then enjoy the reward of accomplishing something about which everyone else was skeptical at best and have the skeptics go, "WOW!" What's better than that, though, is how everyone who has bought one of our homes loves it as much as we did and are still in them. Witnessing their joy is the real joy for me!
Now, my question to you is this. What is your absolute favorite item in Daisy Cottage? I'm talking inantimate object... Maggie and your hubby don't count in this question! ;-)
Hugs,
Sheila

What a sweet question....:)
I have had MANY dreams come true. Meeting and marrying the sweetest man on earth...Creating a business of my own was always a dream and one that has far since become a reality. The rewards of seeing MY product sold in well known stores, shops and "theme parks" and catalogs......Seeing MY clothing designs in windows of boutiques and department stores.....BUT MORE THAN THAT....My four Granddaughters and the closeness we share....and after working so very hard for it, designing, building and now living in MY DREAM HOME....!!!
Life is good and I am blessed.
There are STILL two more dreams that have NOT come true....and I have FAITH that someday they will...:)
My motto is: Life is a dream you make for yourself....LOOK UP....Have Faith....Dream BIG....
Thanks Kim for sharing YOUR DREAM with us...:)

Kim sweetie, Of course you've asked such a thought provoking question. I have a ton of dreams that I desperately want to come to be, and several have, but one that has come true is: I have always dreamed of restoring an old 2 story home in an old historic section of town on a tree lined street and we are! I still dream of having it featured someday in someway. It has been wonderful to read how thankful people are for their families. I am so thankful for my wonderful husband and children. Change is certain and love can always grow! xo rachel

Every since I was a little girl and someone would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would respond "A Mom." I never let go of that dream and finally at age 36 I delivered a beautiful baby girl that we named Allison Victoria. She is definitely worth the many painful childless years I waited for her!

Obtaining my Ph.D. - definitely a dream come true. Lots of work to get there, but so worth it! The other was for my sister. She went through some very difficult times -cancer and then the sudden death of her husband at age 40. But God has a way of working miracles! He sent an angel into her life several years ago. It's an amazing story. I tell her that her life is like a Danielle Steele novel. Now if I could just write it...!

I just graduated from nursing school in June and started my career as a registered nurse. Even better than successfully completing nursing school is that my bestest friend is moving back to Ohio from Colorado. She's been gone two years - the entire time I was in nursing school and I am so very glad to welcome her back home. It's been a rough two years without my best friend down the street.

Hi sweet Kim :)
Are you sure you were ready for this?? You will be pummeled with questions LOL
My prayers were answered when I gave birth to my two babies, but when I met Rich... now that was a dream come true. You already know our story, so I won't get into it here. I'm still waiting for my other dream to come true and you know what that is ;)
My question for you is what decor styles have you had in your homes? Daisy Cottage is obviously Cottage style, but before that... oh and I would love to see pictures ;)
Also, what was your biggest decorating mistake? What really made you cringe?
I wasn't to difficult was I?
Thank you for your sweet complement and I'm so sorry if I tuckered you out on the journey :)
Goodnight!

My dream was when I was a little girl. I would sit in church on Sundays with my parents and I would watch this very, very cute boy with long (70's remember) wavy hair. He was so cute and 3 years older and 3 grades ahead of me in school. Fast forward, this cute guy asked me out when I was 19. We've been married 27 years now! Dreams do come true.

Hi Kim! What a thought provoking question and great responses. My dreams as a child were to have two daughters who be great friends to each other, and to be able to make my living as an artist. I have been blessed to have my dreams come true~ and then some:-). Love to you....Janet

I grew up in a very dysfunctional home, as did my husband. So my biggest dream was to let my children be a part of a loving, functional family, which they are.
Next dream to see accomplished is to publish a book on the subject of building a functional family.

My dream was to go to Disney Land. I grew up in Texas and only the rich kids went to Disney Land. I was raised in a family rich with love, but not so rich with means enough to travel to California to theme parks. I have been grown up for a long time and could have gone many times but since I grew up thinking you had to be rich I just never considered it. When I met my now husband 16 years ago... he being from San Diego, wanted to take me home to meet his folks for our first Christmas. He did not know of my dream of Disney Land but had planned a trip there for us because he thought it would be fun. I was the biggest kid there and I will never forget it. He had no idea what he had done... he had fulfilled my childhood dream.

Oh I just love your blog! It made me feel all warm inside reading the "dreams come true" comments. Wow. It's great that so many people can recognize the blessings in their lives.
In my childhood, it seems like the rug was constantly being pulled out from under me. I always wanted to create a safe haven for myself and have a family of my own that truly loves each other. And, that dream has come true. I am blessed with the best husband and kids (and grandkids) possible. And, of course our sweet doggies and kitties too!
Thanks for challenging me to think about this today.

I thank God for my husband and child...and for our animals. They bring a lot of joy and laughter to our house. In times like this I am just glad to have a roof over our heads and food on the table. I don't mean to sound duragtory..know I didn't spell that quite right. I am just thankful. Can I ask how many rooms you have in that lovely cottage? You seem to have sooo many noooks and crannies...love it. Hugs, cherry

Nice question! I'm now living in my dream come true. My husband prays with me and goes to church with me! After many years of (me) going to church alone. This was a desire of my heart that I have received. PTL!
I always enjoy your blog, Kim.

One dream I had for many years was to learn to Oil Paint. Just ask my kids....they remember me watching all the Bob Ross programs on TV. I had just lost my youngest son(age 25) and just "happened" upon a gal at the Farmer's Market who not only sold her paintings, but was an Instructor. That was almost 2 years ago and I LOVE every minute of it!
I love browsing your Blog...it's so relaxing to sit and listen to the music while catching up with you :) And Miss Maggie...what a charmer...she sports an attitude and seems to accept compliments quite graciously.
How long did it take for you to decorate your home so cute?

It's funny when I think about it but my dreams have sort of evolved and changed as the years go by. I thought all my dreams would come true by marrying my hubby and they have but now my most important dreams are that my family be happy and healthy. I think that dream became especially prominent in my life when my daughter was diagnosed with MS a couple of years ago. I especially have dreams that I hope will come true for my grandson who I love more than anything so that's a dream in progress.
Now for you Kim-have you ever been to NH or New England?

Okay, just a quick question for you -
How has blogging changed your life? :)
Posted by: PamperingBeki | September 06, 2008 at 10:08 PM
Hi my friend! Well, my dream was to have a family - good husband and children. I have been blessed with both and could not ask for anything better.
Now I'd love to meet Tom Selleck - as you know - but that has not come true yet. ha.
As a young girl, I used to play house and always wanted a good home to call my own. That is another dream that has come true - a blessing, too.
hugs for you and little Maggie!

Okay, a dream of mine that has come true~ it's kind of three dreams, but they all go together! I am so happy to be married to the love of my life, and am blessed to have three children and live my life with them in our own little house! :) This was what I prayed for when I was younger, and I am so thankful for these dreams come true! :)

My dream came true when I had my kids; love being a mom!
My question for you: What inspires your design and photography?

Most of my dreams have come true. I dreamed as a child of having a horse. Our dream came true as a married couple and have had horses while our kids grew up.
Then my dream was to have a quilt shop and be a teacher. That dream came through actually through our ministry. Better than owning a shop actually.
BTW my Daisy wrote about Miss Maggie today.
Come by and see the photo's we chose.

to have a (heathly-sweet- adorable-intelligent...) daughter, the love of my life !
Posted by: SierraMoon | September 07, 2008 at 07:40 PM
Kim, my dreams of having a wonderful family and husband came true when I married over 30 years ago. We were blessed with a beautiful daughter and son. We dreamed of owning our own business, and that dream came true also. (It took lots of hard work along with the dreaming.) Every thing changed for me when I lost my handsome husband, the love of my life in a boating accident almost 2 years ago. The thing I've learned is that when all your dreams are stolen from you, you just have to keep going and find new dreams. I now have 3 beautiful grandchildren and 1 lovable stepgrandson. They truly are my sunshine. Your blog has helped me in so many ways. It has inspired me to start decorating and thrifting and crafting again, and that has helped me heal. Thank you.

I always wanted children and the Lord blessed us with three children. This summer I had a hysterectomy and we were planning on having more. But, my three children even shine more to me each day that they are unique and a gift!

One of my dream come trues was traveling to Israel. It was over 20 years ago but it still seems like yesterday. That country wrapped itself around my heart and I will never forget it.
What would be your dream vacation?

My biggest dream so far is my son. He's such a great kid, and I love him to bits. At almost 15, he can be challenging, but it's so exciting to see him blossoming (can you use that word for a boy?) into the man I always dreamed he would be, even with the rough edges that need to be worn down. :)
Still lots of other dreams to live for, but so far, this is at the top of my list!

Hi Kim,
I can't believe that you asked a question that would require you reading probably for the next 2 months all the answers but here goes...
When my hubby became ill about 10 years ago and required chemo treatments we decided to live our life with goals and so we have done just that. Checking off the list so that each of us could see the others dreams fulfilled. My hubby is my #1 dream come true. # 2 the children #3 to build our dream home #4 to own a shop in Dunedin FL, #5 to restore an Old Victorian
#6 to turn that into a B&B # 7 to see my hubby pastor a church. All but 6 and 7 have been checked off the list so my dreams are coming and have come true.
What did you do to get published in a magazine?

One of my dreams was realized only a few weeks ago. My story covers many years of fantasizing over a dollhouse I loved and lost thru a family crisis when I was 7 yrs old. Recently, my youngest daughter and I were returning from a trip to Washington DC with my grandchildren when we found this darling little shop in Annapolis. It wasn't long before my daughter discovered a gorgeous dollhouse sitting high on a shelf. It's more magnificent than the dollhouse I loved and lost many years ago. She didn't hesitate to purchase it for me. And, actually, my daughter's responsible for quite a few of my dreams coming true. She's a blessing in my life and I thank the Lord for her. I'm now in the throngs of selecting paint, doors, windows, shingles etc. Needless to say, I'm excited to decorate and furnish my dollhouse in vintage, shabby chique :) It's an awesome feeling when your dream comes true.
My question for you Kim, is are you originally from Florida and where did you attend school? (2 questions)

In March 2005 a 14 years-long prayer was answered and my dream of being reunited with my husband came true (we had been married 7 years, separated for 14 years but never divorced). It is really amazing how when God grants you the desire of your heart He completes the whole package. This reunion brought me many other dreams as well: to live near the ocean in a historic home (our brownstone condo was built almost 200 years ago) and to travel -- last December I even got to Paris which was a dream I never thought would come true. God is good, always!

My first dream was to graduate from high school I know this sounds simple but I was only the second person to graduate on my dads side of the family. I also had a second dream answered last year when I married to prince charming. I also have a dream of owning my own shop with all of my hand made creations which is in progress as we speak :)
my question for you; how long have you and your husband been married? and what is your key to a successful marriage?

KIM:
The dream come true for me would be God's grace in sharing with me for almost 25 years the perfect life partner, best friend and wife - your sister.
Obviously it runs in the family.
Love ya,
Your bro-in-law.

My dream was to have all my children love the Lord with all their hearts and praise God, they do.
My question for you is, how do you keep the pet hair off all your darling furniture?
