Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Well, come on over here dear girl. Trixie Gertrude, Peggy Sue, Dixie Belle, and Miss Lucky Faith and I would love you to visit. We play and have lots of fun with the 6 daycare children who come to Mom's house every weekday. On weekends there are always grand children to play with too. And FOOD. Last night I stole the steak off Mom's plate when Mom went outside with a neighbor to dig up a plant from her flower bed...sure was good. Mom made doggie eggs for us too. Our mommy takes good care of us like your mommy does and spoils us. So while your Mommy is busy, come visit us in Texas. Beaulah Mae Meiske

Hi, Maggie! You are so dang cute! I have an idea~while your mommy is cleaning, why don't you come to my house and have a play date with my mini doxies, Mattie, Maggie and Zack? We would love to have you, and we could always make some homemade doggie treats and have some frosty paws ice cream for dogs. Now, wouldn't that be fun?
Love, mary

Brenda Kula

But Maggie, when mommy is done, your house will be all clean and fresh! And she will be free to pay attention to you. Just head under something to stay out of the dust!

Poor, poor Maggie. How can you resist those eyes? Come here to Wyoming and I'll cuddle you. Guess that won't work, just try to have patience and your Mommy will be back.

OH, dear Maggie! How well do you get along with kitties? We have three here that would be happy to chase you around the house (or vice versa) if you'd like to come for a little visit!

Hang in there, sweetie, I'm sure that your Mama will be back soon!

Oh sweet Maggie! If you were here I would hug and hold you to your heart's content! Of course, my little pup would be quite jealous! Never mind, there's plenty of room on my lap for both of you.

Tell your mama that we miss her!

Hi Maggie from Jane and Emily, we are too far away in England but we'd love to play and send you hugs over the internet. we've visited Mommie's blog many times but don't always think of something to say. Hugs and hope Mommie comes back to play soon. Jane & Em x

Soon, I promise. :)

Have you ever been to Ybor City? Years back there was a store "La France", it was beautiful....retro & vintage items of all kinds. I worked in a stained glass studio "West of the Moon". It is a fun part of Tampa.

Well hello sweet Maggie :)

I'm sorry you're so very bored. If you lived in Ohio, I would invite you over to play with Shiloh, Mini and Fluffy. I'm sure mommy will be finished soon. The house looks beautiful and before you know it she'll be holding you much more :)

Sheri Ingrande

How on earth do you do it? Each and every picture you take is AMAZING! You have such an eye for detail and color. Thanks for kindly sharing your incredible talents and adorable home with us.

And speaking of adorable, look at that adorable Maggie! She needs to come over and play with Ty and Tootsie, though I fear they are currently in the doghouse for naughty behavior. More later.

I'm in your neck of the woods, and I drove past Daisy Cottage yesterday and oohed and ahhed and waved to her as well as to you and Maggie.

Up to my eyeballs in alligators, but I want to try and hook up sometime soon.

Sheila... who is on a borrowed computer!

Jean Eakin

Maggie , you just come on to Virginia, and me and my Maggie Mae will play with you. You are adorable. Everything looks beautiful as usual, Kim. You have a wonderful evening.

Give Mommy a big hug, she's just so busy.

Would you and your Momma like to come visit me in SC? Oh no wait, that would mean I would have to do the cleaning. On second thought, I would need weeks to prepare for a visit from my inspiration person..Kim.

Maggie relax and take a nap. She'll be done soon.

Elaine L.

I LOVE this post!

I wish that Maggie could come over and play with Daisy my mini hound.

Go hold that baby. She's making me sad just looking at that face.

Hey, Maggie! It's Mom2fur's doggie, Shadow Dante here. Bury your mommy's Swiffer duster in the back yard...then jump in her lap and refuse to get off until she pets you!
Works for me!

Hi Maggie!! You're so adorable and cuddly. just like my own precious puppy, "Jax", short for Jackson.

Your photos always provide a lift to the day, dear Kim! I love the way the tulips so beautifully mimic the crocheted afghan, and the delightful way the reds, blacks and white are accented with small pops of yellow and bright green. Your home always looks happy and ready to dance!

Becky from Tennessee

Oh Kim, what a cute personality you and Maggie have!!! How can you possibly resist that face and those eyes??? I'm sure your little Maggie will get plenty of attention and hugs and kisses when the cleaning is done.....she certainly is an adorable little "ham"!! I also have a Maggie that I just love to pieces!

Sweet Cottage Dreams

Hi Maggie ..... are you still bored? Have you rolled over for your "mystery guest?" I am sure that your sweet visitor is enjoying her visit with you and your momma as much as I did. Now if you didn't live 3,000 miles away, I'd invite you over to play with Duhgall. He would just adore you!!

Tell your momma and the mystery woman HI from me.

Love you oodles and bunches.....

Oh Maggie, you have loads of bloggie love coming at you; you will never be alone. Tell your mama to take a break and give you a big kiss!!

Poor Maggie! You are too cute! I'm sure mom will be there to cuddle with you soon.

Hello Sweet Maggie....This is Barkley typing this message. My mom leaves me alone to fend for myself with a basket full of toys, while she does her "business stuff", I too dream of playing ball non-stop and having her undivided attention, 24/7 but sadly, I end up following her around in her studio and wishing she would play with me more too. Is asking for ball tossing 23 out of 24 hours asking too much? I don't think so.... Understanding how you feel, your NBF, Barkley ~ as typed by my mom ~ Joy

Greetings Miss Maggie! You know that I will take care of you. You, pretty girl! don't fret, I used to be a pet sitter as I have lots of great tricks up my sleave to keep your mind off of your mother and her "intermission." Upon a quick clean up she will be back soon!

Hi cutie pie you! My Miss Daisy would love to play with you.

I've enjoyed "catching up" with you today. My Mom and Aunt were here for a week, but left yesterday morning, so I'm working hard to visit all of my blogging friends.

As always, I enjoy seeing what you've been up to. Your photos are always "eye candy".

BTW...I'm celebrating my blog's 3rd birthday! Amazing! Thanks for being such a sweet blogging friend!

Tricia Arledge

The color of the cottage is so bright and cheery. Poor Maggie Mae. I know she loves her sweet cottage too. Can't wait to find out who the visitor was.

Maggie is SOOOO sweet! She could make me rush out and get a little dog, if I was not allergic to them :(

How exciting to have your "home" in a magazine!

How sweet! she is so precious and I love her name. btw i'm having a giveaway - stop by & check it out :)

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

  • "What I love best about Daisy Cottage is Kim. I love the way you appreciate every good thing in life and embrace joy in every moment." ~ Rose

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank you Joy!

  • "Your blog has helped me start to see the beauty in life again." ~ Joy

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne

Thank You Tracy!

  • "Your words and thoughts of encouragement help me see myself with value. You are a blessing. Thank you." ~ Tracy

Thank you Karen!

  • "Your humble spirit has not changed through your many posts here in Blogland. You have been blessed with a special gift and I am very thankful you share it with us." ~ Karen

Thank You Betty Jo!

  • "You truly inspire me to do whatever I can in my own little nest. I've always been an artistic dreamer, but you've enlarged my dreams with your way of seeing." ~ Betty Jo
