Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Hi KIm
You find the most delightful shops! Thanks for taking us along with you. You didn't mention if you bought anything. Hope you have a happy weekend.
Hugs, Rhondi

Ooooh, I could live in a shop like this!

Hooked on Houses

Love this shop! You find the best places. Wish I could sit on that beach awhile, too! -Julia :-)

Hi Kim!
That is a beautiful store. Did you buy anything fun? I am longing to be laying out on that beach right now. It looks divine! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Janet Straus

Ohhhhh my.........That shop looks like my kind of place!!!! Would you mind if I ask it's location? I'm fairly new to this area and have no clue where to go other than Mt. Dora which I adore.
I have so enjoyed reading your blog and love your beautiful cottage.

Honestly Kim, you find the best shops. Maybe you need to put together a shopping guide for publication.

Kelly~Rose Vine Cottage

Thanks for the shopping trip, I needed that and I didn't spend a thing! Perfect. I'll be looking forward to the next shop!

Oh Kim,

Such chippy, yummy, vintage goodness!!! What a wonderful way to spend the day :)

Oh Kim the pictures of that beach are incredible and that shop.....hmmmm nothing like window shopping but oh what I wouldn't give to come across something that cute around here. That was my kinda shop.

Oh, I couldn't believe it when I read your blog today and saw pictures of this shop. Me and my family just vacationed in Bradenton a couple of weeks ago and I went into that very shop!! What a small world. I didn't buy anything, but enjoyed all the eye candy. I used to pass it alot when we were driving around town and I finally asked my husband to let me check it out before we went back home. Thanks for the memories. Ha!

Kim...I'm in love...omg, I found so many things I would like from that shoppe! Can't wait to see what you bought!

Thanks so much for the pictures of that beautiful Florida beach. I'm hoping to make a trip there next year when my sister moves back from Vegas. The Gulf shores are a delight!

The shop now...I could spend hours in there too!♥

Thank you so much for letting me tag along! What a fun shop. I loved the bead tassels on the furniture knobs!

I want it all!

My feet are still wet from the ocean! Thanks for taking me along; your pix are great! I love the detail and finishes on all the furniture pieces. Can't wait to see what treasure you brought home.
Have a great weekend.

Morning, Kim! Oh, what a perfect day. So that's the little bird who told you? lol The shop is darling. I'm in love with that big old green hutch and I spied the perfect little aqua looking framed mirror for your Daisy Cottage! Oh, please come to see me - I'm having a tea party and lots of pretties to show.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia L:)

Kim, Thanks for the virtual shopping trip! Usually I can spend money without even leaving the house, but today I got to shop and not spend a cent! And relax on the beach with the AC running. Beautiful photos and I love your blog.

The Decorated House

Hi Sweet Kim~
How refreshing is that beach!
I think I need some beach time and you just pushed me over the edge to do so.

Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs, Donna

Cute shop Kim. We don't have many little shops like this in our neck of the woods. We have some cute ones, but they are scattered here and there.

Happy Friday!

Ms. Tee

What a wonderful little shop! I found your blog on the house tour - it's so cheerful. :)

Shelley Jo

Oh, Kim, I'm afraid you're going to have to owe me a new pair of glasses because I'm getting a little eyestrain from staring so intently at these mesmerizing photos! Not that I mind..So many things to savor in every shot.

And I can feel the ocean spray...those pix are fantastic...HOW do you get the waves to pose for you like that LOL !!

Kim, I have two more words to say. Beautiful, charming.

Oh, thank you Kim! We visit my Dad in Sarasota once a year and I am compiling a list of your favorite stomping grounds for our next visit!

Brenda Kula

Looking at all that eye candy always makes me want to redecorate...something. Move something from one place to another. Add something fun to something plain. You get the drift. "Putzing" - Kim style!

Darla ~ UltraBeautyBoutique

Forget the store, I wanna join you on the beach!

That store looks like a fun place to dig :). What beach do you go to? I have been wanting to take the kids but all the beaches I grew up going to are on the Atlantic coast, not the Gulf coast.

You have the most--make that DEFINITELY THE MOST incredible blog (which I visit waaaay many times each day)! I love your stories, pictures & all of that creative stuff...thanks for sharing!!!

What a fabulous shop! And what a fun day you must have had! Love the beach photos.

I am coming over tomorrow so we can go shopping! I'll bring bagels and coffee too! What a FUN shop. The beaches look so peaceful and beautiful in Florida! :)

Oh what a cute and pretty store. I know where Bradenton is. I live in Fl., I just have to take a trip there and check it out. I will check back to see what you bought.
Many Blessings, Virginia

Wow! That store looks like your cup of tea! Its so colorful, whimsical and cheery! Great find!

what a darling looking shop. close to where I grew up..Arcadia, the way..if you ever head further check out Arcadia's once a month "Antique Days"event..I believe it is held the 4th Saturday of every month..a day when all the antique shops pull items out onto the sidewalk, and also there is an area under the town oak tree where folks set up their wares for the day..all antiques.
Have a lovely weekend.

Anna @ Rusty Cottage

Ah, Kim, I love it and do you realize that it has the same word in it as my cottage??? Ok, now tell me it isn't destiny that I come to Florida and go to that SHOP?!?! Hahaha, I luuuuv it! My oh my, I sure do wish I could grab through the computer screen and buy a few pieces. Thank you for sharing!

I love that shop too. Lots of wonderful treasures to take back home.

Kim- Very cute shop! I just wanted to say that I love that you love color! I have slowly found that I really do love a lot of color all over the house. Your blog is great; thanks for sharing all your adventures and house pics!

Absolutely wonderful!
You brought a smile to my face :-)

I am totally in love with all the fabulous shops you take us to, Kimbo...we just don't have this kind of wonderfulness out here in West Texas.
Your great photos always make me smile...
I love the look of controlled clutter these shops offer...I tend to want MY cottage to be FULL...the more I can get, the better I like it.
Thanks for a fun post...

The beaches in Florida are so pretty and CLEAN! Wow, the water here in the gulf is brown :( Rosemary

that was a fun trip-thanks for taking us along!

What a delightful shop! It looked it had some Daisy Cottage influence.

Oh my, those beach pics have me so envious! I would love to spend some time on the beach. Little hard in northwest Iowa! And what a great shop you found. Can't wait to see what you bought.

Toni from NC

Such beautiful things to look at. I love the way that each of the spaces in the store is grouped by the color painted on the wall -- clever!!

Hi Kim... I love this shop!! It reminds me of another adorable shop in Crystal River. Thanks for taking us along and sharing the beach too. I've never been to Bradenton but Clearwater was always my favorite beach because I lived in Tampa at the time.
I wonder what you brought home... maybe those cute li'l blue tables, the handy blue tool carrier or, antique blue mirror. Can't wait to see.

Barbara @ Southern Lady's Vintage

Loved the shop!! Thanks for the trip!

Hi Kim :)

The beaches are so beautiful there. I can almost feel the sand between my toes ;)

That shop was incredible. In fact Annie was looking at it over my shoulder and asked if we could go :)

I can't wait to see the next one!

Dear Kim, Thank goodness for little birds. What a fun shop. Looks like there were a lot of things right up your alley, and mine! diane

That water looks fantastic especially since I'm from the Midwest! The shop looks like fun too!

Thanks for a great shop tour! What fun! And I really love the beach pictures! I don't live near a beach, so a vacation at the beach is always such a treat! My computer background right now is a beach picture! Patti

What lovely photos of the beach. Although I'm not a beach person, I love the picture of the wave and the serenity of those shots.
The crickets are too cute, we are currently listening to the melody of the crickets in our courtyard. They've been here for about a month so far.

For me, they are very calming. (There aren't that many of course.) It's kind of like white noise for me.

Keep on blogging!

Kim- Thanks for treating us with a trip to the sea and that cute shop! I love your pictures!

Marie @ Make and Takes

Love it. I want one of everything in that darling shop!

What an awesome store!! I highlighted you and the store on my blog today. Thank you for sharing the pics and all your great stuff here on your blog.

So what DOES a rusty cricket sound like? Just wondering.
Go back and pick me up the wooden mermaid on the mantle, a few of the dried starfish and the black scrolly-birdcagy-thing.
Just kidding....looks like you had fun though! Take care!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
