Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

Ahhh, what a sweet front porch!
I love your cozy cottage.
Happy weekend,

tea time and roses

Beautiful post! Thanks so much for sharing, and I so love the pretty red flowers. Have a lovely weekend...

Kim, I'll be missing my daddy, too. He has been gone for almost 26 years. I could use one of his great hugs.

But, I will be honoring my husband and our son. They are both fantastic fathers.

Your porch looks just lovely! I almost feel like i am there with you ( and Ms Maggie May)
sitting, the warm sun on on our faces sipping on mint ice tea. AHHH.... how relaxing! :O)
I know what you mean about your sweet daddy~ I lost mine last July and although tomorrow is going to be a difficult day to get through I know that he's not really gone~ He's with me always, in my memories, in my heart. Just like i know your dad is with you!
Tomorrow i will think of all the funny things that my dad did to make me smile. I think he would like that!!
Whatever you have planned for your dear hubby i know that you will make it a very special day for him. Please wish him a very happy fathers day from all of us!
love, lisa

Have a wonderful Father's Day with your family. I know how you feel in missing your father. Mine, too has passed away five years ago. I still pick up the phone in an attempt to call him to tell him about something going on in my life. He's still ever present in my heart and my thoughts.

Hi Kim,
Daisy Cottage is looking lovely. I know exactly what you mean about tomorrow, it happens to me with my mom, almost 11 years this November and I too feel she is with me all the time.
I hope your weekend is filled with love & happiness.

Happy Father's Day to Mr. Daisy Cottage tomorrow. Your home looks lovely every time I stop by. I wish I lived close enough to stop by and visit over a cup of tea.

I, too, miss my father a lot. He's been gone just past five years and Father's Day is always bittersweet. Celebration of my sweetheart, my son and son-in-law. But missing my dad. So much. You are right, they are close. In our hearts. And such sweet memories.

HI Kim! I am not a blogger but I have enjoyed looking at your's very much.

I lost my dad and my best friend four years ago...two days after Father's Day. I have such and empty feeling inside today thinking about him. It is comforting to know others have the same feelings and thoughts this week-end.

Enjoy your day with Mr. Daisy Cottage and Maggie. :-) Debbi

Oh, Kim...what lovely photos. you are so good at what you do.
We, too, will be honoring my kids daddy...and, like you hubby, he is the best dad! We are all blessed!

Hi Kim,

Happy Father's Day to Mr. DC and Happy (bit early) Birthday to you.

My own Dad has been gone now for almost 13 years (Nov 1) it's a bitter sweet day, my kids also have a wonderful father. This will be the first time my son won't be around to celebrate he moved to CA last month. It's like college all over again, we miss him something awful :(

I'm also thinking of Tim Russert and his family, what a shock !!!

Have a wonderful day with your family Kim,

Kathy :)

Happy papas day to Mr Daisy Cottage:) I'll be celebrating in my lucky kids day too:) they got a good one! I'm daddyless too:( wish I were're so right tho, he is still around ! xoxoxoxo enjoy the weekend!

Hi Kim,

I miss my Daddy too, but you are right, they are always in our hearts. Happy Father's Day to Mr. Daisy Cottage :)

I lost my Mom 31 years ago on Father's Day (June 19, 1977). No one can take the place of a parent. I miss my Mom so much and I know you miss your Dad. My Dad died in 1991, so I don't have either parent.

God Bless You and we will both make it through this special day with memories to carry us through.

Betty in Oklahoma

Kim, I think it is sad for all of us that have lost their Dad and to think about them on this day. But to celebrate with the one you love is a cherishable memory for our children to carry with them. Thank you for sharing and have a happy day.

Beautiful entry! I hope Mr. "D.C." has a wonderful Fathers Day! and you and your family have a great weekend.

Enjoy your day!

~~ flo ~~

Your front porch is so cheerfully inviting.
Happy Father's Day weekend to you, Kim,
and to us all.

What a wonderful way to remember your Dad, my Father died 4 years ago, gone but never forgotten!!!!

Hope you all have a great Father's day

A beautiful, heartfelt post, Kim. Having a special father is a gift and my daughter, too, is very lucky to have such a gift.

May your day be as gentle and beautiful as the flowers that fill Daisy Cottage.

Hug u. Elizabeth

What lovely images, Kim. And beautiful thoughts. My dad left us about 15 years ago and as I celebrate the holiday at the lake, I am constantly reminded of the man who loved this place so very much.

I'm always so uplifted by you and your "daisy cottage". It is one of my favorite places to come and visit. Have a wonderful day with your family.

Hi Kim...I miss my father too. He has been gone 13 years now. He is in my heart everyday...

Hi Kim. I hope that you have a lovely day with your husband today. What a birthday for a special lady to remember. I have precious memories of my father too and he is with me in my heart everyday.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this special day.

Wishing you a lovely day filled with happy thoughts and memories of your father. Happy Father's Day to Mr. DC.

Kim, I just noticed the new photo of you.
Self-portait I think?
Very nice!

Hi Kim,
I am spying that new tablecloth, it looks pretty.

My father is still alive but suffers from a severe mental illness that took him away from us about 8 years ago. He was only 68 when it happened, way too young. I mourn him even though he is physically still alive.

Hi Kim,
I know...
We need to "talk" my Dad passed on the 22nd.

How wonderful and blessed to be loved with a father that loves you though ~ I knew you'd do something special today.

I miss my daddy too, Kim. I lost him a long time ago but my memories are sweet.

Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I'm glad you enjoyed my posts about our trip to Ireland. It's a wonderful mplace to visit!

Hugs, Pat in NY

I hope that Father's Day was great for your family. I am so thankful to still have my Dad but lost my Mom four years ago. Mother's Day is really hard but I- like you-feel like she is in my heart and all around me.

I came to your blog via a blog from a far off place only to realize that you are out my back door literally. What a small world! I have admired your house for years and drive by it just about every single day. Your dresser on the front porch sent me on a mission to find one for mine. I LOVE your decorating style. I have always wondered what your house looked like on the inside..I have been so tempted to come up and knock on your door!!

Thanks for your beautiful inspiration!

Beautiful Kim! I keep thinking back on how far "we've" come...Daisy Cottage is just so precious. And YOU...the supa-sta of blogworld!!!! :)

Sweet Cottage Dreams

Kim, this is such a wonderful tribute to your father and husband. Hope you all enjoyed the day.

Very sweet post! I hope you and your family had a very nice Father's Day. Happy birthday (a little early, I think)!!

Everything is looking great at Daisy Cottage!

Have a happy Monday!

I know it's corny, but since I grew up without a dad, and "Stranger on the Shore" has sort of become my personal relaxation music, (thanks to you and your Daddy) I was thinking a little about your dad yesterday on Father's Day...these blogs can create such a lovely feeling of extended family in this hurried, far from our roots, world. Thanks again for sharing with us! Bobbi

Hi Kin,
Here in Spain, Father's Day is celebrated the day of San José. I hope that his family spent together one day so happy! A hug,

What a beautiful and lovely post. I lost my father 5 years ago and miss him everyday. But, like yourself I know that he is here every moment of the day. Thank you for such lovely words.

I hope Mr. Daisy Cottage enjoyed his favorite meal :)

After reading your whole blog (not so long ago), I remember how much you love your dad and I'm sorry he's not with you here on earth, but he IS there :)

(((hugs))) and Love,

The Decorated House

Hi Dear Kim~
I'm sure you dad was a wonderful man from knowing you. My thoughts were with my dad on Sunday, too.

What sweet pictures of Ms. Maggie, and I so loved the telling of the 3 sisters coming to visit. What a gift, from all of you to each other!

Hi Sweet Kim, We had a wonderful father's day. My hubby has been the most awesome father, like your hubby, and I wish their special day came around more often throughout the year. I know your father is there with you too! He is sooooo proud of his precious daughter and family. Your photos are always so gorgeous, and I especially love the one of the white geranium. xoxo

Sweet Cottage Dreams

Such beautiful photos and sentiments. Hoping you and your hubby had a lovely day.

Hi Kim, I came over from Rachel's Romantic Porch. You have a darling cottage and porch. It is so cheerful. I am so sorry your dad is not here any more. Hugs, Kathi

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Love the red flowers :)

Hi Kim

Remember me? I've been so bad about blog reading lately...not because I don't want to read, but because of my crazy life recently. Lots of company, which has been wonderful and then all the medical tests, "hoopla", etc. You've been a busy, busy girl. I've really enjoyed reading all your posts I've missed and seeing all your gorgeous photos.

Hi Kim :)

I came over to see if you had posted anything and low and behold you have a new picture of yourself on here!! You look beautiful :)

Have a great night!

I'm sending you a virtual hug sweet Kim. I hope the wonderful man that helped your raise your wonderful children enjoyed his day of celebration.

I so enjoy reading your blog...I was looking for the little hearts in your previous posts..i love looking at those adorable hearts..

Just popping over to say "Hi Kim!"! Hope you are having a lovely week!

Thank you to all for the kind Fathers Day wishes. Kim made it a great day for me.

You should know that her father was a very special person. He was my best friend. I have missed him every single day for the past 24 years and can only imagine the emptiness in Kim's heart.

Oh Kim, your Kevin is a doll !!!

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

  • "I am so touched by your words and photographs. Whether in happy or sad times, you inspire my heart and soul. We all need each other's light and you offer us that dose of sunshine." ~ Pamela

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
