Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

That is a tough one! I love the blue, why not live with that until you tire of it, then paint it when you are ready for a change. xo, suzy

Jennifer

Hi Kim! Is there anyway you could take a picture so we could see it with everything else? I could probaby answer the question better? Its a darling question. I love the blue. I would just want to see the blue in the entire room... Thanks!!!!

Thirkellgirl

I like it blue! It looks cute the way it is, and I agree with Suzy, you can always repaint it when you get bored with it!

tinam61

I like the blue! Cute little table.

tina

Adrienne

What a darling table! That's just what I'm looking for to put by my chair in the living room. I hope I can find something like that soon. I like the blue but agree that you can always paint it if you get tired of the color. Did you notice how it is the color of the book on the piano?
~Adrienne~

Rosie's Whimsy

I am not a blue girl (I would most likely pain it red) but that shade of blue is indeed pretty and really says "Summer". So, perhaps leave it alone until Fall and then get out that paint can! :-) Rosie

Sue

I love the blue...and that is coming from a red gal! I say leave it but never be afraid to change your mind! I love your home and love to peek in. Thanks for sharing!
Sue

Catherine

I just noticed the books on the piano in the same colors. That really ties everything together. You are so talented!
Cathie

Jennifer

that little gem would be pretty ANY color.

Katie

I think the blue looks great for this season! Plus, I already see it picking up hints of cooler colors like blue and green in just this small picture, like the two books on the piano and the grass in the painting on the wall. Enjoy the blue punch for a while! I love it!

Kathy :)

Oh I love the blue Kim....I see the blue book on top of the piano and it blends so nicely. But you know best....you always do a wonderful job. Oh that is the sweetest table ever it has such a Daisy Cottage feel to it, if tables could speak it would be CHEERING...so happy YOU brought her home !!!

Have a great day Kim,
Kathy ;)

Maureen

I'd keep it blue until another mood strikes! As one who used a lot of blue in our home in the distant past, I culled it all over the years and have just recently started to add a bit back-- most likely, this is due to all the blue inspiration I've resisted the past few years. Sure looks great in your charming home! PS Isn't it fun shopping with Rhodie???

Dianne Wood

No need to get the paint bucket out. The winner by far is BLUE....:) It's the perfect touch and just pops out to say..LOOK AT ME.!!!
I Love it....:)

Hugs from me and Pearl,
Dianne

dotsie

A "punch of blue" is right and looks so fresh and inviting. Try it for awhile ... paint is always there if you want it!

Donna

Hi Kim. How about blue if you send it to me, and red if you decide you really, really have to keep it for yourself :) Love it either way, but I just love all the red and black touches in your home, so I'm saying either red or black... Donna

sam

I am by far no expert when it comes to interior design, that is why I frequent your site. However, I really like the blue. I am normally not a blue person but I think it is a great accent piece in that color. I also like what someone said above about leaving it blue for the summer (it is a summery color) and maybe painting it in the fall. The longer you live with it, the more you'll know exactly what you want.

Chris@Cats on my Quilts

I vote for blue. That blue book on your piano is calling out for a blue cousin in the room!

Andrea

Boy, I love red, but that blue is soooo pretty. I would live with it a while.....

Karla

Definitely leave it blue. It is like a breath of fresh air and isn't the color the reason you were drawn to it to begin with?
Karla

Tami

The blue is great! I'd leave it blue. What a pop.

Meghan

GO RED!
GO RED!

Sheila

Love, love, love the blue. I vote keep the blue!!! Blue, red, yellow is a classic combination. Looks great as it is.

Keep up the good work, Sheila from Michigan

LeAnn Huntington

Hi Kim,
Isn't it wonderful when we go back to get something and it is still there. That's when you realize it is truly meant for you. I absolutely am crazy about the blue in there. The books tie it in. I think you should definitely leave it. It really pops.

Hugs,
LeAnn :)

Pat

Hi Kim...I asked J this morning if we have to do anything at all today and he said no, so I'm visiting my blogs and catching up on a little bit of rest, before we start over again next week!

So happy I stopped by here.

I would definitely leave the table blue. I've been seeing this color quite a bit, this spring and believe the table is perfect, not only for the punch of blue. It also adds bit of the unexpected!

Pat

Jackie

Blue, Blue!! I love the particular blue that it is and it matches one of your books, so I think it's meant to be!! So cute!!

stacy

i think its so summery that i would leave it for awhile but i know when fall came i would be painting it red if it were mine. its adorable!!!

Cece Marie

I love the blue! It is a great counter to the red. How cute would it be with a white vase and red flowers! (and the yellow flowers look great too!)

Oma

Blue! I have to agree the punch of blue is lovely...yes blue!....

SummersCamp

For the love of all that is holy, keep it BLUE!!! *B

Jill

hmmm... I like the blue, but without seeing the whole room it's hard to say. That particular shade of blue is so lovely, though! And summer is coming, so maybe the table should stay that color and herald the season? Paint it red at Christmastime!

Devilish Southern Belle

I like blue!

kathie

I like the blue - it adds the element of surprise.

Erika

Wow, what a great find! I wish I could be so lucky. :o) I love the blue. I think it works beautifully with the reds & yellows in the room. I say leave it "as is".

Susan Ramey Cleveland

Well, I love the blue. Red would be pretty too--but you already have so much red. Blue would give the table its own personality and make it stand out in Daisy Cottage. Anyway, it would be a shame to cover up that beautiful blue.

Dena

Oh I think it would be really cute in red but then again, I'm a huge red fan :)

Hugs,
Dena

Haley Nisky

I absolutley love that tabl!. I think it would look great in any color, but I do love that blue. It is such a calming color and great for Spring!!

Rachel Going

OOOHHH Kim, I like the blue, LOVE it in fact. I'm putting touches of that color all over my house. I like the whimsy it adds. Love,Rachel

Rachel Going

Oh, I like the blue. Love it in fact. I'm putting touches of that color all over my home. I love the whimsy that it adds. Love,RAchel

Carol

It doesn't need a thing! Why paint it? You already like it blue.It looks perfect to me!
If it's crying red tho,by all means...go for it :-)

Rue

Kim, I think you want to keep it blue or you would've already painted it ;) It looks absolutely darling in the spot you picked. I love the book added in the same color. If you decide to paint it later it will look cute in red too, but for now, I'd stay with this lovely spring shade of blue :)

Hugs,
rue

Elizabeth

I think the blue is delightful. Live with it awhile before you decide. I love your blog.

mom2fur

Oh, please, please, please don't paint it! Turquoise with red is so vintage and pretty!

Donna

What a pretty table Kim! I like the blue, it's a great accent piece!
Hugs,
Donna

Cindy

I'm liking the blue too! Always fun to have a touch of a different color for contrast!

c

Kelly Henderson

Well I think it's one more vote for blue-but a big picture of the room would help me decide for sure...Is that a sneaky way of getting more pics from you or what? And are you sure you're no just teasing us with this Daisy Cottage name? Or is it really about a 5,ooo sq. ft. little mansion? There's always room for one more thing without it looking cluttered. You've got the magic touch!
Love,
Kelly

~Heidi

Super cute table! I love the color!!

Sue

I agree with Pat. It is an unexpected treat to find this sweet blue table.
I adore red and blue but seeing this, as it now is, is such fun.
You can always get out that pain later on.

Love to you dear Kim!
Sue

bj

Before I read the other comments, I want to voice my opinion without any pressure!! heh heh
I LOVE the unexpected jolt of blue ! And, knowing how great YOU are at decorating, and you say you like it, there's not a doubt in my mind that it should stay blue....at least for awhile. Paint is so easy to change colors so.....be blue for awhile....come winter time, when you want things all cozy and warm, give it a lick of red....
hugs, bj

Bobbi Jo Nichols

Kim,
The table is so sweet blue. It reminds me of a robins egg and so cottagey (if that is a word. I would keep it blue. It's kind of like hair you can always change the color. hehe Hugs, Bobbi Jo

sharron

Oh I am lovin' that punch of blue!!! So Daisy to be very versatile!!!!

Sharon K

Hi, I love the red wlack and white that you have in your home so I would vote for red. The blue is nice but red would go so well with all that you have.

Amy

Love the blue....don't change a thing!

Wendy

I like it blue!! Would you mind sharing which store it's from? Ive only been to a few shops around town. Thanks!!

Alice W.

I personally love the blue and think it looks good with some red accents near it!

perryjane

The blue is so fun. Live with it a bit and you will know, Kim. You have a great eye for color. perryjane

Teresa

I love it just as it is...in its found beauty! Also, the blue books on top of the piano help pick up the blue in the table...great "pop" of color!! Live with it...in blue for a while...as you know...it's just paint...it can always be changed...RIGHT? Great find!!

Blessings...
Teresa

Marann

I love the blue! So unexpected and yet picks up the blue book cover to connect it. What a sweet find! Enjoy it and repaint when you feel it's time :) Marann

Rhoda

Oh, you got it!! I'm so glad, it really has such a cute shape and you know what....I love the punch of blue too! It does work, I see a blue book there too. You can always paint it later, but leave it like this for now.

Let's go shopping again!!
xo,
Rhoda

Dee

Gimme a B, gimme an L, gimme a U and gimme an E!

Nicole

I love the blue!!!

Betty

My hubby votes for you to leave it BLUE. That's his vote.

I like it blue, too. You can always change it later, if you wish.

Betty in Oklahoma

Bethel of Bethania

G'day Kim
I gotta say I love that shade of blue your little table is - would remind me of Miami, beach & sand ... maybe I'm just a romantic. But there again if you were to paint it the colour of that red picture frame... ummmm No I think the aqua blue wins in my book but hey it's only a coat or two of paint and if it doesn't suit you can paint it back to the blue again. Maybe your can change the colour of the table in one of the photo programs - always an idea.
Kim I also wanted to say I love your selection of music - when Strangers on the Shore started I nearly cried and then Summer Place & now Last Date - song I've grown up with and favourites of my late Dad. Tears of joy thinking of him ... thank you Kim ... OOroo ... Bethel

Cindy

Buyers remorse is sometimes rewarding like this moment. I've learned if it's meant to be ..it will be !! I love the blue..and we all know nothing stays the same in our homes for long. What is the name of your favorite consignment shop.. I'd like to check it out!
Hugs!!
Cindy H

Rose

I say leave it blue, it adds just that element of surprise to the space. Yep, like it in the blue!
Hugs,
Rose

Betty @ Country Charm

it's cute in blue but I think in Daisy Cottage it is crying out RED!
I think Red!

Ashley

Oh, leave it blue! It is so fun with all the red and yellow.

Jill

Blue - definately. Especially since you have the blue book on your piano. It ties it all together. :) Great find !

Valerie

I'm not a "Blue" person but boy that table looks great w/ that chair and really makes the red pillows "pop"

Shelley Jo

I like the punch of blue, too, and like the way it pulls out the blue on that book on the piano. Fun!

Patty in Kansas

Sweet Kim: the blue table is perfect...it's a neat punctuation mark for all of your other red and black treasures. I love to check in each day and hear what you have been doing....thanks for sharing your lovely home (and Miss Maggie) with all of us. Patty

Tina

I love that punch of blue, and the thing about it is you can always add a doily up under the flower vase that is edged with red if you feel you need a bit more red in the area...and you can change out your floral arrangements with the seasons too on that table....I can see it at Christmas time with a white mini feather tree with silver accents on top of the table..or even a pot of poinsettas..it really looks rather charming in the color it is.

Rose

Adorable. Love your place, it is so sunshiny and bright.

Elaine L.

If I were you, I'd live with it blue for a while. You can always paint it, later.

~elaine!

Mandi

Blue.....

Carolyn

I love that shade of blue.

I really like the combo of chocolate and blue that has been so popular. But It really wouldn't go with anything else in my house.

Oh....pass the word....I am having my first contest!! Come visit my blog and enter!

Carolyn

Heather Ferris

What a sweet little table! I went back through some of your old posts to look for pics. of the room to refresh my memory concerning the furniture already there. I would stay with the blue for now, but wouldn't it be great to be able to snap your fingers any time you wanted?
One week blue, maybe red the next and black would be pretty as well. Whatever you decide I know it will be a pleasure to look at.

Tammy

Blue!Great for the season, maybe change to red in the fall.

Jennifer Takala

Keep it blue! I love it! I've been dropping by your site for a few months now and I love it! Cottage style is totally my fave, and having a real, live cottage is my dream, too. My husband and I are buying a house right now, and I'm using you for some decorating inspiration!

Connie

You have such a colorful home and you make it all work. My vote is to leave it blue until you tire of it...then paint it red or black.
...from another colorful home lover.

PamperingBeki

That's my favorite shade of blue so I say leave it! :)

Claudia Hill

I am very partial to that shade of blue. I think its perfect as is! Every room needs a bit of unexpected color. Congratulations!

Claudia

What a simply wonderful, delicious find. I adore the blue. It looks stunning against the yellow and red.

Liz

Oh, I adore that color. But you paint it what you want! It's your house! :)

christy in georgia

The blue table is ADORABLE!

Patti

Hi Kim,
I love the table dressed in blue. She reminds me of a sweet robin's egg. I was just thinking the other morning of painting my kitchen table blue - and now, I wonder... it just might be the right thing to do. As always, you are an inspiration!
Hugs, Patti

Fay Marie

I personally would go red, since it would go with the picture at present on the wall and the red cushion. Love your piano. By the way, yes, your Mom is pretty.

  • "I just discovered your blog and am blown away with the comfortable, almost nostalgic feel of it...almost like finding a long-lost friend after many years apart...somehow familiar, but all so exciting and new." ~ Jane

Thank You Dena!

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

Thank You Francesca!

  • "Oh my! I have just stepped into heaven. A nostalgic, magic, getaway place where folk love one another and life is sweet. Kim, you will probably never know just how many hearts you have touched with your site. " ~ Francesca

Thank You Kathy!

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank you Rue!

  • "That hankie is like you and your blog Kim. In the middle of all of the other beautiful hankies, it's the one that stands out and makes you feel at home." ~ Rue

Thank You Jeanette!

  • "Sigh.... between your music, red and yellow mellow feeling and wonderful writing I just feel so calm. What would I do without you in the morning with my cup of coffee." ~ Jeanette

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

Thank You Rose!

Thank You Lisa!

  • "Here's how I can best describe into words how your blog made me feel. You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

Thank you Pamela!

Thank You Anne!

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
