"My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists.
In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna
I used to live in Florida (until 2 1/2 years ago), your pictures brought back memories. I know the town in which you live, you are a lucky woman, it is nice there. The first shot of the lake gave it away. I know you must enjoy all of the wonderful little shops and restaurants. Your pics will make many folks buried in snow very envious.

Hi Kim,
Will be there in 4 weeks! Can't wait!!! Where's the pic of the"Palace"? Can't wait to take Andrew to the Museum. The "promised land" is also on the list along with Anna's. Hope to get to see you. Love, Debbie

Thanks for a little blast of spring! Those sculptures are amazing--so lifelike. The snow and ice will be on my doorstep this afternoon and evening so your little trip downtown has surely brightened my day.

Brooke Pottery - one of my all-time favorite stores!! I used to do all my holiday shopping there. But when I lived there, it was about the only thing nice downtown - it looks so much nicer now!
thanks for the trip down memory lane. :)

I was in "your" town last Thursday for about 2 hours. Drove down for a funeral then to Jax. We cut our time so close, no time to really look at anything, but the twins got to see oranges growing on trees (they're 4). My DIL's uncle has a small grove he doesn't work and we let them run around and play there for 1/2 hour to get rid of some of their energy. They took handpicked oranges the next day to school for everyone...

Where are you? Charming town.

Love your downtown pictures. Very quaint. Do you still have a Kress store? Saw the sign on the building but didn't know if it's just there cause' it's old or the store is still there. I would love to go into an old Kress or Woolworth but most, if not all of them, are all gone. My town torn theirs down years ago.
Have a wonderful day!

Your downtown looks beautiful. And sunny and warm. I could use some of that. I was looking at the pictures and then realized I should recognize something since I did live there at one point but I don't recognize a single thing. I'll have to send my mom over to peek at the pics and see if it brings back any memories for her.

I loved seeing that! It brought me peace...

Hey, Kim, oh what fun to go back for a visit to your downtown, since I haven't been there in SO long! It really has changed a lot. The shot of the Lake (Mirror Lake??, I've forgotten so much) looks the same going into town, but wow, they've really revitalized it a lot. We never shopped down there when I was there, just that old pathetic mall. I hope ya'll have a good mall now! Although I really don't like the mall at all anymore, so you probably don't either.
Thanks for the memories!

I've only been passing through on my way to watch Basketball games at Florida Southren, but always love driving through your downtown and by the civic center. Maybe next time I can go a little early and explore a bit more........
Thanks for the lovely pictures and I think your Vistors Center should ask you to be their next photographer :)

Thank you for all the pictures, especially the one of Mitchell's Coffee House which I will forever remember as a respite in a difficult time!
Charming, charming town; as many others have posted, it's a wonderful 'getaway' while we're knee deep in snow, wind and subzero temperatures in the north.

Great tour. Seeing all that green makes me long for a trip south, which my husband and I have done many winters but probably not this winter. Seeing this makes me think I should move south but I don't think I could take the summers.

What a pretty place to live! Some of your pictures remind me of a favorite 'hangout' of my husband's and mine...Northport, NY. (Alas, I can't afford to live there.) Very quaint, 'Main Street USA,' with awnings and statues and old fashioned street lamps...and a waterview!
Of course, we don't have pretty flowers all year round like you do, LOL!

Hi Kim ~ I kid you not, your town looks very similar to a small town not far from our home - Oakdale, CA...where the last of the Hershey Chocolate Plants is closing in a few days. It is so similar and looking at your photos made me feel right at home..of course your music is enchanting as well and so comfortable. Visiting your blog is like putting on my favorite pair of blue jeans!!!!
love ya,
Becky

I just read what Becky said and I agree. My aunt lives in Oakdale, CA and there is a very strong resemblance to their downtown. Come visit California. You'd feel right at home.
