Let Your Home Be Your Heart

  • What I hope for my readers and for all keepers of the nest, is that they embrace their homes with their heart and all of the passion that it holds. I want them to know that they can decorate on a limited budget by seeing things in new ways; by rescuing the broken and transforming the ugly. I hope that they flaunt their favorite color and decorate their life with it. I hope that their homes feel like one giant hug that welcomes them each and every time they walk through their front door. More than anything I want everyone to have their own home-sweet-home dream come true! xo, Kim

You take such great pictures, Kim, and must always have your camera with you.
You made me homesick for Florida "snow". I spent a lovely New Year's Day on the white sand beaches a few years ago, actually dipping my toe in the Gulf and thinking of all the poor souls in Iowa suffering from the cold weather.
Wishing you peace and joy in 2008!

jessi nagy

aaahhhh that looked wonderful!!!
love the shop. yummy!
glad you could have a relaxing time!

A day well spent! I would love to spend some time in that shop. Here in Nebraska we have the real stuff on the ground. Brrrr! I looked at the link and they say they'll ship anything anywhere but they only have the one picture on the links to look at. Too bad they don't have lots more pictures so you can see what they have to offer.

ahhhhh a far cry from the snow of the northern midwest! Lovely to see, I will say I love the sun we have today even with said snow:) ahhh is that man of yours a fly fisherman? I've got a thing for those! xo daisy dear!

Peek-a-boo, missed you, too!! Thanks for treating us with a glimpse of Mr. Daisy Cottage/Santa Claus..what a wonderful smile he has (happy fisherman)! ANd thanks to Gina for treating you to such a lovely Wednesday escape...the eye candy at that shop is wonderful. Did you resist a purchase??! Oh, and we, too, have electric icicles along the eaves of our house :-)

I want some of that Florida "snow". I'll send you some of my NH snow-God knows I have plenty to share! You have a cute hubby there. Not as cute as mine but still cute. Happy New Year Kim.

Beautiful pictures. Looks like a wonderful time spent with someone you love.

Thanks for peeking in.

We got to Florida Thursday from Michigan and I am loving your "snow" as opposed to the cold wet stuff we left behind. Happy New Year!

Daisy Cottage

Elizabeth thank you for reminding me that I needed to add a picture of what I bought!

That shop looks like a perfect place to be visually over-stimulated and spend hours looking at every..little..thing!

Wonderful pictures. That beach looks gorgeous.

I've missed you, Kim, and wondered what you've been up to. Should have known you were doing fun stuff. That shop looks like it has some great things! Hmmmm...I think we need to get your fishin' lovin' hubby with my fishin' lovin' hubby. My hubby has a huuuuge boat that he likes to take out offshore in the Gulf to fish for grouper, hog fish, mackeral etc. and he's always looking for somebody to fish with. And while they fish, you could teach me the finer points of thrifting!!!! LOL.

Good to see you Kim, I've missed you too! Sounds like a fun day! That shop has soooo many goodies. Happy New Year to you :)

Those Chips look yummy!! Thanks for sharing pictures of your hubby with us...he is very cute...and quite the fisherman. When we go visit my inlaws in Foley, Al I must DH and Father are big would be such a great time....we will have. Happy New Year to you!!

Hi Kim, It's always so much fun to "vacation" at Daisy Cottage while we're freezing our, um, primroses, up here in New England. Have a great New Year with that handsome hubby.

Hi Kim,
Your are blessed with your wonderful family~Your photos make me home sick for our home in Florida, Palm Beach Gardens, I will be going down in February. Our other home is on Long Island and it is a bit nippy! Thanks for always sharing your home and family with us. Hugs, Rosemary

I've just discovered your blog and just love it. I'm seriously addicted. Love your beach picture since it's about 35 here in the midwest. I lived by a beach in different states for 20 years and sure do miss it's beauty. The pictures of the shop you visted are wonderful. I'm still looking for something like that here in St. Louis. Thanks for sharing with us.

Alison Gibbs

Wow what a fabulous shop. You could wander around the shop al day. Glad you had some fun.

I have missed you! Looks like you had alotta fun :)

Happy New Year!

Sara Duckett

That looks like a neat little store! Your hubby looks adorable too. Such a happy fisherman! :)

Hi Kim We go to Longboat Key the week before Christmas every year. We drove down to Anna Maria Island for dinner one night at The Waterfront restaurant, but I didn't know about that wonderful shop. Next year I'll go there for sure. Did you get the fish & chips from Rotten Ralph's? We drove through part of St Petersburg on the way to a quilt shop I like and as we were driving through a lovely old neighborhood I thought wouldn't it be a coincidence if this is where Kim lives? I think it was called historic Kenwood or Kingswood. Anyhow enough of my ramblings! Hope you had a lovely Christmas and a blessed new year. Rhondi :)

Kathryn Bechen

Hi Kim,

Happy New Year! What a handsome hubby you have and what a charmed life you lead with your sea island jaunt and beautiful lunch and shopping with a friend. You are truly blessed.

Love, Kathryn

I want to live where you live! You always seem to have the greatest places to shop in your area. But I would miss the change of seasons and the snow that we have in PA.

Penny @ Lavender Hill Studio

Mr Daisy Cottage is a handsome fellow!! It looks like you had a lovely day with your friend. I haven't been to Naples in about 5 months now and I am starting to miss the beach! Maybe that's why I just finshed a beach cottage chic mosaic buffet :-). The shop looks like alot of fun.

Daisy Bouquet

Well it looks like you had a special day and a very special Christmas. Whishing everyone a Happy New Year!!!

So we're not suprised that Mr. Kevin is a cutie, the whole darn family is good looking! Those fish & chips look wonderful, wish I had some right now. Glad ya'll had a great Christmas, Kim. My hubby is an avid fisherman too.

Glad you popped in after all!

Happy new Year, Ms. Kim! xo,

Elaine L.

Very cute hubby, Kim.

That sign is so perfect for Daisy Cottage!

Betty @ She's Sew Pretty

Oh! I want that blue table and that yellow dresser and that blue cabinet. Yikes, what a tease you are Kim! And your handsome hubby...Oh my!

Absolutely love the sign....wish life was always like that.

Oh, what fun you must have had with your friend. Your hubby is cute as a button and looks like he's a fantastic fisherman!
I love to find shops like this one! I would like to decorate my house to make it look just like this! The more stuff, the better I love it.

There is something about eating fish and chips right on the ocean that makes them taste so much better. Our favorite spot is in Bandon, Oregon. You have to eat outside and even if it's freezing, they are great. Love the shop. I would have definitely done some major charge card damage.

A husband who paints - priceless.

Raised In Cotton

Wonderful post Kim!!!
Happy New Year!

Kim, I always said I never wanted to do Christmas in Fla, but after your photos, I have changed my mind! Lovely to see the little fishing shack Christmas and a most Happy New Year!

Barbara @ Southern Lady's Vintage

What a great looking shop, just filled with wonderful things! A nice getaway to that beautiful beach! Happy New Year!
Southern Lady's Vintage

We don't have shops like that here. I would be in heaven if I stumbled on one though! I don't know how you can walk away with so few things. Oh how I'd love to be on the ocean right now enjoying the breeze and putting my feet in the sand. I guess in FL right now you all are cold and wearing sweaters - that always cracked me up.

Happy New Year!

tea time and roses

Oh Kim, I enjoyed your beautiful photos, and the shop is wonderful!! This is indeed a lovely post. Wishing you and your family a prosperous and beautiful New Year!

Now Kim you did NOT buy that yellow cabinet?
Great walk along the beach seeing the sites!
Wishing YOU a bright Happy New Year
filled with peace love inspiration and many blessings. Hugs NG

Fish and chips on the beach - now THAT'S what I call living, girl! Hey, Mr. Daisy Cottage is very cute - and you can tell him I said so. lol! How wonderful to find the perfect Daisy Cottage retail store! I'll bet you had a blast. Wishing you and yours the blessings of peace, health and happiness in '08!

Great shop and like what you brought home! The fish and chips looked yummy - never seen chips like that - definitely not British style!! The beach looked wonderful - but best of all, your handsome Kevin who, I'm sure, has plenty of good "fish stories" to share! Glad he spoiled you for Christmas - you deserve it.
Happy New Year - Mary.

You are the BEST tour guide!!!! Thanks for always taking us along on your travels....we go along happily in our robes and slippers...:)))).
I have already called my daughter in N.C. and planned a day trip to the Island!!!!
Have a Happy and Blessed New Year!!!

what lovely pictures. I enjoyed them so much! Happy New Year! I am glad to know you!

Kim, You and I were both spending Thursday visiting Anna Maria Island. Can you believe that????? My daughter took me there and we had lunch at the pier....(can't remember the name of it) and we shopped at Ginny's and Jane E's too. When I have a chance I will post pictures on my blog. We were probably eating at the same time and shopping at the same time !!!!! I just arrived back home last night after 10 wonderful days in beautiful Sarasota.

Dear Kim,
Your DH is as cute as the rest of the family - no wonder you two produced such beautiful children. Must have the name of that shop - that is eye candy - a little slice of heaven. The fish/chips look yummy and the "snow" that truly warms my heart.

DH and I are just trying to decide where we are going this coming year. My first request was to see Kim. LOL I must visit those Goodwills around you. With my luck, all the goodies will be gone. Darn, I wanted some Santa boots. LOL

The pictures of AnnMarie Island are awesome. I am afraid the farest I have gone was Longboat Key back in the 80's.

Love your sign and your pictures always makes me feel like I am right there. You take such wonderful photos.

Enjoy your family during the holidays. May God grant you many Blessing in the New Year.

Kim, what a wonderful relaxing and shopping day you had! I'm loving that shop full of awesome vintage/shabby furnishings and decor! Your hubby looks so friendly and a cutie, just like you. Have a Happy New Year! :-)

I want to come right down there and visit!! It is so cold and rainy here! We are making a fire tonight and snuggling :)
Your husband is a big cutie and I'm glad to hear you've been having a good time! Happy New Year! (2 days early!)

Oh, my mouth is watering for the fish and chips...did it come with hushpuppies?? Since I moved from Florida to Maryland I cant get hushpuppies, only a few restaurants have them. That shop looked like so much fun. Happy New Year!

Thanks for the sharing with us Kim.
Looks like a great time.
Happy New Year!

Love the pure and simple sign!!Hope you have a Happy New Year!

Drop the last year into the silent limbo of the past. Let it go, for it was imperfect, and thank God that it can go (Brooks Atkinson)

Thank you for taking the chill off of my cold, Pennsylvania day! The ocean views look so wonderful. I would give anything to be in a warm climate on the beach right now! Your shopping trip looked like so much fun. Your husband is a great fisherman--the fish were huge! Thanks for sharing a little sunshine with us today. Amy

Happy New year. Stop by my blog. I'm having a party for a friend of yours.

Dear Kim, what a treat to be spending time here this morning! I'm a stranger in the world of blogs and seldom find the time to navigate through a myriad of blog pages. Today is the day I'm visiting my online buddies and taking the time to catch up. Kim, it's no surprise that your blog is one of the most popular to visit. I've found peace within minutes. Your house looks wonderful under the magical care of Mr. and Mrs Daisy Cottage. Most importantly, it's filled with love, and it shows. We are knee high deep in snow in New England, these photos of the ocean, your fish and chips meal by the shore, and our shopping spree makes me long for a trip to Florida. Happy New Year.

I love your cottage! Looking at your shopping pictures makes me want to leave work early, and so some myself.

  • "Kim, I love your blog. I so appreciate you sharing every day. I miss you when you're gone. Losing my dear sweet baby boy in Iraq has made me treasure life and those so dear to me. Reading your blog is such therapy for me. You have made me treasure the finer things in life that I use to overlook. Birds singing, flowers blooming, my home and all of the treasures within it. I'm not sure that I ever looked at a teacup or saucer and saw such detail and beauty in it." ~ Dena

Thank You Grace!

  • "I would like to let you know what a joy it is to wake up each morning and read your delightful blog. I always feel as if you are speaking directly to me. Since I was diagnosed with an immune disease a year ago I wanted only to read positive and very inspiring blogs and your blog was the first I found. I think maybe the good Lord meant for me to find your blog and since then it has been nothing but smiles all around. I have tried very hard to stay positive about this disease and very up beat. I know that there is no cure and I have accepted this, but reading things with a positive message and filled with so much love helps. This is where you come in and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and to let you know how very much you and Miss Maggie are loved." ~ Grace

  • "I visited my friends with their tasteful beige homes and sometimes questioned if there was anyone else in this world who loved the things I did. Then I found Daisy Cottage and a whole community of other women who shop the side of the road, paint their furniture fun colors, and aren't afraid to fill their homes with touches of whimsy and fun. What a relief! We aren't alone! I'm not alone. Thanks for all your inspiration and for confidently sharing your home and the idea that we can have fun with our decorating. I never get tired of visiting here Kim." ~ Kathy

Thank You Lenna!

  • "My eyes have been opened to a world I never knew existed. Such vibrant creativity, such caring community: it literally takes my breath away. After so much loneliness and isolation it is overwhelming to me that such a world even exists. In time I hope to be able to fill my garden of life with lovely, loving friends instead of the weeds of loneliness. Until that time lace tablecloths will come out of storage, music and lovely scents will fill the air of this home. And I shall visit the Daisy Cottage when I feel despair raise its dark, obscuring head, for I know from experience, that it is ever lurking behind that next bout of pain and weakness. Your kind and generous response has strengthened my resolve, you have helped me more than you will ever know, my new-found friend." ~ Lenna

You know when you wake up in the morning and there's an early morning thunderstorm and every room in your house is as dark as night? Then, the rain and thunder stop and the sun comes shining through all the windows and you just know it's going to be a beautiful, sunshine day? Well, that's how finding Dear Daisy Cottage made me feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Kim. You blessed my day and may God do the same for you." ~ Lisa B.

  • "Thank you for your wonderful blog. I have been "lurking" but had to share with you how much you have helped me embrace the fun of decorating. I came to your blog looking for pictures to inspire me as I redecorate my house with cottage style. Today I was so tangled up in doing it "right" that it was really depressing me. I visited your blog again for some fresh ideas and came away realizing that there is no "right." Just me being me and enjoying my home! I am laying here in bed with tears in my eyes - tears of happiness that it is okay to be me and let that shine through in my house and what I wear and what I make with my hands. You are God's gift to me today and I thank Him and you." ~ Anne
