Here are a few miscellaneous things that I thought I'd share with you today..
This candelabra was looking so forlorn when I found it in the back of a local shop. Its' price was greatly reduced because it was thought to be damaged - in a very crooked kind of way. I went ahead and bought it and brought it home. Happily, I discovered that its' crookedness was only a temporary state - the poor thing just needed a proper adjustment and it was as good as new! Do you think that I should paint it white or red? Or maybe even black?
************************************************************************************************
My Santa boot collection is growing - thank you Goodwill!
**********************************************************************************************
There are no Christmas decorations in the brown office, but I captured a little bit of the afternoon light - I think that sunlight is the best "decoration" anyway! ;-)
And I love it when the light sprinkles on our red quilt too!

One of my FAVORITE things to do during this cozy time of year is to snuggle up in a comfy chair with my stash of magazines. I save the holiday issues each year and they are always a treat to reread!
I hope you have a wonderful day filled with lots of sweet, miscellaneous things!
Kim, I love everything in, and about your home. You have such a flair for decorating, making things feel elegant, and yet still very welcoming and homey. Love the last picture!

White, black or red? Hmmmmm.
I think black would be elegant, white would be charming and light hearted but RED would be sassy and jazzy! What mood are in? ;)
You can ALWAYS repaint it when you are in a different mood....or DAISY'S in a different mood.
Always love to see your warm and inviting home. Thanks for inviting us in!
And there must be a couple of barefoot Santa's roaming around out there!! :)

Thanks for sharing the miscellany, Kim. My favorites are the Santa boots and the doggies--oh, wait, the doggies are real aren't they. Have a good day, dear. --Susan

Kim,
Tough decision on the candelabra. I think red would certainly be the most unexpected, but black would be the grounding element. Go for whatever suits you at the moment; it will look wonderful.
Enjoy,
Janet

i have a little Santa Boot collection too! What fun. And I also have a cool candelabra similar to yours, and it is black and I love it! Also a great thrifting find!

Hi Kim, I would leave the candlebra as is or paint it black. I loved the pic of you and your Christmas baby yesterday, I am just late in replying. It is a very busy time of year! We had our Church's Christmas program on the 9th, so I should be around more now. Love all the peaks at your home, it is looking very festive!!! Hugs, Cindy

Good Morning,
I would paint it black or if it's home is next to the piano I would leave it just like it is !! Whatever you decide will be the right decision.'
Such cute little touches around your Casa.
Happy Holidays,
Kathy :)

What a terrific chandelier! I think I would paint it black.....or red......or white....lol. It would look wonderful in any of Daisy Cottage colors!

What a great candlestick! I think you can't go wrong whatever color you paint it. You're right about the sunshine being the best decoration. I love my house at different times of day when the sun shines in a particular across the hardwood floors, or catches the light of a piece of glass.

Oh Kim, I'm torn on the color to paint it...I think red, no black...oh boy I'm no help here but I can't wait to see what you go with!
Hugs,
Dena

I think black for the candlholder - that way ANY color candle would look wonderful. The last picture, oh my, I just want to give them a big hug!
Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Kim,
I love to visit your website. It feels like home! I especially like the way you celebrate the little things and special moments of your life-looking at old magazines, the light coming through the window. The special moments-those are what we remember. God blesses us with many each day.
Merry Christmas,
Sara

I love anything that starts out a little crooked and then works out so perfectly. Another great buy!

Hi Kim, Love the Santa Boot Collection. Your photos with the light streaming through the windows are fabulous - I just love the way it changes the colours in the room. I thionk the candelabra would look great painted red with black candles in it.

Hello Kim, thank you for sharing so many delightful things with us today. I too love the holiday mags and I think I would be really happy snuggling under that red quilt in your gorgeous office with your darling dogs at my feet reading them!

Beautiful pictures as always!
I vote for black or white, esp. if you will
always be placing red candles in it.
Your "ceramic stocking" collection is fun!
I also love to relax with my magazines and
I save many of them, too.

Kim,
I love that candle holder.....just the way it is.....from what I can tell by the photo anyhow...it is nice as is. But then again I can't see it in real life, so hmmm....it looks nice and not too flashy of a color....have fun deciding!
Posted by: Laurie | December 11, 2007 at 03:10 PM
I love your candle holder...it adds such a unique element...I don't think you can go wrong no matter what color you decide to paint it...or if you decide to leave it as is...you are the best at this sort of thing...I could never advise you as to anything better than what you decide. I do love those Santa boots...it reminds me of some we had around our house as a child. And...your pups...well, my heart is always with them...I just love the 4 legged furry creatures...all year long.
Blessings...and Merry, Merry Christmas...

As always, lovely. I especially love the red quilt! And I would probably leave the candelabra the way it is if it were me. But you have such a great style, whatever you do is going to look fabulous!

hi Kim!
I've missed you!
I love all that you have been doing as usual.
love the red of course, and those Santa boots, too cute.
Your new candleabra is so nice, is that green I see on it? on the leaves?
if so, I think I would leave that, and maybe paint the base black.
Although I think it's pretty cute the way it is, but knowing you, whatever you decide it will be perfect!
Hope you have a wonderful holiday with your family! I'm So happy I met you this year!
I look forward to seeing more of what you are doing in the coming new year!
big hugs!

Oh, there's Marley with Maggie! I hadn't see a Marley pic for awhile. The candelabra is such a great find, with the leaves and flowers festooning it. Cute Santa boots! You have such an "Advent" way of living, slowing down, paying attention to life. Just beautiful, Kim.

Kim, I think the candle holder looks delightful, just the way it is. I would only add black and white check ribbon and I think it would look fabulous!!

Kim, I love your miscellany! Those Santa boots are fantastic! I've been behind on my visits, and just saw your tree today -- love those colors! And I think Marley and Maggie have the right idea -- find a comfortable spot to watch the world go by...

I love your santa boots and the picture of your fur babies makes me smile - they are so content.
I save my Christmas magazines and reread them at this time of year too.
Your home looks so beautiful and I love the way you have captured the lighting in each of your pictures.
Love your candle holder too - you find the neatest things - just think it was crooked so you could buy it and make it right. LOL

You have thoughtful and unique ideas. What about green for the candelabra?
Posted by: Dee | December 12, 2007 at 01:22 AM
This was a nice long post! I never get tired of seeing pictures of Daisy Cottage.
I would paint the candelabra, but I'm not sure what color.
I love your Santa boots and I'm looking, but no luck so far.
I forgot about the brown office, so I was happy to see you repost pictures. I love that room!

Any color you wish! Like a previous writer said, you can always repaint it. I saw a candelabra the other day that had red plaid ribbons tied in bows hanging down from each candle cup. This would be very festive on you new treasure. Christy :-) <><

As always, I love your posts and the beautiful picures of your beautifl home. As for the candelabra . . . so many choices! I personally love its personality just the way it is. Black would make it more regal. White, maybe more chic. Red would definitely say "here I am" and would look wonderful in your cottage.
We are definitely planning a field trip down towards your neck 'o' the woods to do some serious thrifing. Haven't been there in years and had forgotten how many great treasures there are to find! Maybe you could clue us in as to the best locations and the best days for treasure hunting.
Merry Christmas!

The Santa boots are the perfect Christmas decoration for Daisy Cottage! I love them there!! I also save my holiday magazines, usually for a snuggle in the big chair with either a glass of chewy red wine, or a hot buttered rum. MMMMMmmmmmm....

Kim, everything looks so pretty! I think that the boot collection is so fun! I'm like you in that I love the way sunlight changes the way a room looks...that play of shadow and light.
I always enjoy my visits here.

my mom did ceramics when I was growing up and I remember a Santa boot she made one year. The white "fur" around the top was shiny and glittery and she filled it with candy canes every year.
Thanks for bringing back a wonderful memory!
